8. Those Awkward Moments

I woke up the next morning with a cheesy smile on my face and remembered the kiss from last night. The way he kissed me last night made me want to kiss him even more than ever. Surprisingly, that was my first kiss. Every girl's dream is to be kissed, like in a fairytale story where the prince saves the princess. At the end of the story, the princess gives her an unforgettable kiss, just like in Disney princess stories. My first kiss was everything I imagined, with him holding me in his arms and having that sparking sensation when our lips touched together. A girl's first kiss can be magical or terrifying, like the one that happens when a stalker guy stalks you and has a huge crush on you. I feel sorry for those girls who first kissed like that, because no girl should be scared during their first kiss. Anyway, after I woke up, got dressed, and got ready for the day by packing my backpack and cheer bag, I walked downstairs to the kitchen to help my mom cook breakfast while Kaylie and her mom helped the younger kids get ready for another day at school.

While walking into the kitchen, I saw Hazel stuffing her face like a chipmunk. This is because someone told her that we were leaving in, like, five minutes. This was not true. She is always the first to finish any meal we have, and she never experiences a stomach ache from eating too fast. Hazel loves eating so much that she is hyper all the time due to the high metabolism that she gets from her father. For a little girl, she can be feisty when someone else takes her food away. Once she bit a classmate at school because he took her cupcake without asking, and we will just say my mother was not too happy when she had to pick her up from school and the boys got in trouble for teaching her to bite others. The boys are not allowed to teach her anything except things like sports, basic kindergarten things, proper manners, especially princess tea parties, and the daily things that young children do. Anyway, I asked Hazel...

"Hey Hazel, do you want to ride with Kaylie and me or the boys to school today?" I asked while picking up some sandwiches for our lunches.

"I want to ride with you and Kylie today because Colton drives way too fast like he is a race car driver, which scares me," Hazel said while putting bags of cookies in the lunch bags.

"Well, for now, you will ride with Charlie and Kaylie." I do not want you to be in a car accident with Colton, who drives crazily. "I will have to talk to him about driving," Mom said with a look of concern on her face.

"Ooo... Someone is going to be in trouble. Mommy, are you planning to ground him and take his car away?" Hazel asked while putting some juice boxes in her lunch bag.

"Well, I gave him three warnings already with his driving." "I will take his keys away when he comes down here soon," Mom said while she finished packing about six lunches.

"Oh boy, so who is driving today?" Hazel wondered while putting her lunch box in her book bag.
"Well, since I cannot drive today due to helping your father with the Harvest Fest ideas, you can take the minivan if you like, or I can have Troy drive.
" "At least Hazel will not have to wear a helmet," Mom said while double-counting the lunch bags.

"BOYS! COME ON. We don't want to be late for school." I HAVE A LUNCH DATE WITH A BOY AT SCHOOL!" Hazel screams at the top of her lungs while running towards the kitchen stairs.

"You got a date with a boy at school?" You are only four years old. "What is going on in today's world?" Mom asked while looking like she was about to have a mini-heart attack.

"Who has a date?" Colton asked while running into the kitchen while putting on his football hoodie.

"Hazel has a cute afternoon lunch date with a boy in her class, and it's so cute, Colton," Kaylie said while checking her bookbag.

"OH, HELL NO!" Colton said this angrily while packing his football stuff into his book bag.
"Damn Colt, it's just a play date, you know, like when you were her age, but you had a childhood wedding," Troy said while pouring himself a cup of milk.

"Oh, hush, I only did it because you made me, and it was a bet," Colton said while looking at Troy.
"Now that it's time to leave for school, you'll be late if you don't leave now.
" Colton, you are not driving today or for a few weeks, so you will have to take the minivan because of your driving. There is no excuse to drive fast while having your baby sister in the car. Tonight, we will discuss when you get your keys back. "Have a good day at school, everyone," Mom said while helping Hazel get her jacket and backpack on.

"Hey, Colt, can you please not get pulled over or even possibly kill us in the van this morning?" I said it jokingly.

"Ha-ha, very funny." "I am laughing so hard that my stomach hurts," Colton said while grabbing the van keys off the key hook by the kitchen door. I woke up the next morning with a cheesy smile on my face and remembered the kiss from last night. The way he kissed me last night made me want to kiss him even more than ever. Surprisingly, that was my first kiss. Every girl's dream is to be embraced, like in a fairytale story where the prince saves the princess. At the end of the story, there is a magical kiss, just like in Disney princess stories.

"All right, it's time to leave for school; you'll be late if you don't leave now.

After about ten minutes, we arrived at school. I was surprised that the ride to school was not as bad as I expected; we did not get pulled over by the police or even die. Once we parked the van in our parking spot, we all started walking toward school, ready to start another day at school. Kaylie and my locker are right next to each other, while the boys' lockers are farther down the long hallway. At least our lockers are not on the other side of the school. Anyway, the school morning passed so fast that it was lunchtime. This is an excellent thing because I am hungry, and I love pasta every day.

Sometimes I wonder what type of pasta it is because sometimes pasta is not enjoyable at all, especially with some types of dishes. Anyway, today is the day I get to see my crush, and I do not make a fool of myself, especially right now.

The morning flew by super-fast, especially like the flash that messes with time. Finally, lunchtime is good because soon I will chew on the caps of my pens, which is an unhealthy habit. Thankfully, I get to spend some of my lunchtimes working on my art projects as well as, of course, eating with my group of crazy mutts. I saw Kaylie in the hallway while walking with the boys. The look on her face looked like she wanted to escape from the boys talking about the first football game this Friday night. I walked right up to her, linked my arm with hers like we did as kids, and started talking to her down the hall.

"Hey girl, you must be hungry, especially when I can hear your stomach rumbling," Kaylie said while checking her phone.

"Yeah, I am hungry." "Do you think it will be chicken Alfredo today for pasta day?" I asked while guiding her through the hallway crowd.

"Did someone say chicken, Alfredo?" "You know how much I love chicken, Alfredo?" Troy said this while looking up from his phone, which happened to be on a dating app.

"Yeah, I did, and you should get off those dating apps." Who knows? You might end up with a stalker or a serial killer. I read that this can happen to some weird people around the world. Am I right? I said this as I searched for Alecx in the hallway.

"Wait, what are you guys talking about?" Max said this while fixing his hair after making out with a girl he met a few days ago.

"You know what?" Never mind; let us eat. "I am starving," I said while we walked into the cafeteria with everyone and grabbed a tray for lunch.

We finally got our lunch. I was right about chicken Alfredo on pasta day. We were even given the choice of what kind of side we would like. I stuck with some potatoes, cooked vegetables, and a piece of chocolate cake that paired perfectly with my milk. Once we all got our food, we sat at our regular table. We were eating our lunch when Alex spotted me in the lunch line. He started to walk over to our table when, suddenly, he tripped and fell while his food splattered all over the floor. I would immediately get up and walk over to him to see if he was okay and ask him.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay, Alecx?
" I asked while helping him pick up some stuff off the floor.
"Yeah, I am okay.
" "I was distracted by something, and I am embarrassed now," Alex said while cleaning soup and food off his pants.

"At least you didn't hit your head on the table and end up in the nurse's office." "Our nurse is hot, and I would bang her if I had the chance," Max said while picking up Alex's backpack.

"Dude, that is so gross, especially when she is only twenty-something years old and just graduated from college," Troy said while helping clean up the food on the floor.

"Hey, don't say that while we have the girls in our classroom and teachers nearby," Colt said while holding a trash bag.

"Yeah, we don't need to hear that, and is this Charlie?" Kylie said this while looking at Alex's drawing book.

"Um, you don't need to see that," Alex said while grabbing his drawing book out of Kaylie's hands.

"Is this me?" "This is a beautiful drawing," I said while looking at the drawing.

"Yes, it is." "I have been working on it since our coffee date," Alex said, blushing and looking around to avoid some eyes connecting with her.

"Did you go on a date without me knowing?" Colt said, sounding mad.

"Relax; it was for a school project that ended up as a date," I said while looking at Colt.
"Well, this is awkward, and I am trying to see if there are any extra brownies I can buy for Hazel and Hunter," Kaylie said while walking backward.

"Hey, we will come too, because sometimes the lunch ladies give us free treats because they love us," Troy said while pulling Max away from us and following Kaylie.

While they walked away to give us some privacy, I looked at Alex and then Colton in silence. Kaylie was right; this is very awkward, especially when I did not tell Colton because I knew he would be angry since he is very protective of me and does not want anything to happen to me. I hope Colton can at least give Alecx a chance to get to know each other better. I hope Colton does not kidnap Alecx and tie him up to a chair in the basement. This is like the last time I liked a boy, which happened a year ago. Anyway, I finally said it.

"Maybe we should talk about this when we get home, Colt, and not in front of everyone in the lunchroom because everyone stares at us," I said while cleaning up the mess on the floor.
"Yeah, we will talk about this at home, and Alex, I have my eyes on you," Colton said while picking up his book bag from the table.

"Alright, see you later, Colt," I said while putting some hand sanitizer on my hands and rubbing them together.

"Well, that was one way to tell your brother about us; anyway, I need to talk to my mother about something, so see you later, cupcake," Alecx said while grabbing his things off the table.
"Yeah, see you later, and hopefully my brother can chill or something.
" I do not need to make anything awkward. "Bye," I said while picking up my empty tray to throw away.

After I walked away from Alex, I threw out all the trash and placed my tray on the dirty pile of trays. I walked to my next class, but first I stopped at my locker to change my books for the rest of the school day. The afternoon classes flew by fast; it was finally the end of the day. I got to drive home because I wanted to drive and make sure the younger kids did not throw up in the car. This is especially true when one of the boys drives. When I got home, Colton gave me the whole big brother talk about dating and protectiveness.

Anyway, it was so weird to listen to him talk about dating when he needed dating advice, especially with having a fling with random girls every week, and I wonder where he gets that. Thanks to Troy, they are both players. It is in the form of football captions. It was finally bedtime. I swear I am in a sleep coma where I cannot even get up from my bed, which somehow Hazel slept on. I told Kaylie she could sleep in my bed too, but before I did that, she was fast asleep with Hazel and snoring away. I put some blankets on them, crawled into bed, and fell asleep.
