17. The Enemies

I woke up feeling like my neck was on fire, my mouth felt dry like a desert, my hands were tied behind my back, and my ankles were tired to the point where if I moved one inch, the rope would burn my skin like an intense sunburn on a summer day. My eyes were still covered with thick black fabric, so my wolf could not use her night vision. The thick black cloth was so tight that I started getting a headache from it, squeezing my head like it was about to burst. The cold was so intense that I could feel my fingertips getting cold, to the point where I could get frostbite in seconds. I could smell a musty smell and knew where I was, which was the dirty, damp basement of some random house. I could not figure out where I was because I could not detect my scent. And once, I could not smell the scent of anyone, not even my own twin brother's.

Scent. I knew I was somewhere far away from the people I grew up with—my family, friends, and home. I used my wolf ears and heard some unfamiliar voices that I did not recognize. I started to panic and realized the voices were from our most dangerous enemy. You would think werewolves had no enemies, but we do, especially hunters with vampire bloodlines. However, not just any vampire, but a special vampire family known as the Hunters of the Night. I pondered and remembered what my uncle had told me about this special vampire family. They specialize in hunting and killing supernatural creatures. I immediately panicked when, suddenly, someone ripped the black blindfold off my face and spoke.

Well, what do we have here? Ahh, it is the female Alpha; we have been looking for you for a long time." It is sad that we could not take your sister." We were so close a few years ago. It was a shame that we missed the opportunity to take her. "We were so close, but someone fucked up," the leader said while bending down to eye level and touching my left cheek.

As soon as I saw his red, thirsty eyes, I immediately felt a hunger for blood. I knew he had not had a fresh bag of blood or even a fresh bite of human flesh in a while. My uncle told me that vampires were among the most dangerous creatures of the night. He said they would either bite you or kill you, but when you come face-to-face with one, you never know what will happen next. Did you ever see the movie "Finding Nemo," where the dad clownfish sets out on an emergency rescue mission to find his son and comes face-to-face with a big white shark? Well, the same fear Martin has of seeing the shark is the same fear I have when the leader puts his face right in front of me and smiles. A shiver ran through my spine, giving me goosebumps for a few seconds. I do not know if it was the creepy grin or him touching me, but it scared the living hell out of me.

Suddenly, a few more unknown people come into the basement room. As soon as I smell them from across the room, I immediately know they are vampires. This is because no one smells like anemic blood with a silver or copper taste. The smell of their scent bothers my nose, like a bunch of allergies hitting me at once. One of the new guys walked towards me, bent down to my level, and spoke.

"Ah, I saw this hottie in school, and you are right, Eric." "I can smell the royal blood on her, and I bet she tastes delicious," he said in a raspy, sexy voice, licking his lips.

Eric backed off. You know, we can never tell you that she is here in the basement. "You know he will fight us, especially when he is the leader's son," another guy says while standing at the door with his arms crossed over his chest.

So, where is Vincent, our magnificent leader? "I thought he just left somewhere to grab some supplies, so I do not know how to kill her like we did to her sister a few years ago," he said, laughing. "

While they were talking, I began to piece things together like a puzzle, and I realized they were out for vengeance after my father and uncle killed the vampire hunter leader's wife, who was present during the big attack and was the one holding Hazel and planning to bite her neck like a vampire to kill her. I know what kind of vampire hunters they can be. Well, this family has been hiding in society for many years—even centuries—and pretending they are only regular humans living in our area of the country, right under our noses. They must be clever, but once my twin brother finds out where I am and who kidnapped me, he will unleash hell's underworld on these creatures. No one can get away with it, especially being one of the most powerful wolves in our pack. I would not feel responsible for anyone who died. There are our most frightening nightmares and enemies of the night.

"Hopefully the big bad Alpha and Beta will come and hurt us." "Oh no, I am so scared," a random guy said, holding up his hands in the air.

"Shit man, I am more scared of the former Alpha and Beta because they killed our female leader and, well, his mom," another one said while giving me a creepy stare.

Now I knew why he was so scared of the former Alpha and Beta; he was one of the sons of the woman who was killed by both while in wolf form. I remember seeing her body being torn apart into multiple pieces, and I still remember what her face looked like when she took her last breath. I was there, close by, protecting Hazel with Kayla in case the vampires tried to take her again, which they failed to do as soon as our twin brothers and other wolves from our pack showed up and circled us, snapping their teeth and growling so loudly that Hazel was between Kayla and me in human form, crying.

I snapped out of the fight memories and looked around, trying to figure out an escape route. This is just in case things get tense when I tear their necks open with my bare, sharp teeth. This is as soon as I can get my hands and feet free from tie-ups. As soon as I looked out of a window, a random guy came up and stabbed me again with an enormous, thick needle. I slowly felt knocked out again. My eyes started to get heavy, and I thought my head would drop from the drug in the needle. I felt like I was preparing to throw up, but one of the vampires put me gently on the floor and walked away. I was unconscious when I heard them talk.

I wonder what will happen next with the plan. We've got the girl. We should ransom her for a million dollars or so. I heard the dad was so rich that they had two separate mansions, one for the Alphas and another for the Betas. "We can make money on this chick, plus if they do not pay, we could kill her, and then there will not be another female Alpha for a long time," he said, chuckling.

I heard what he said about killing me if my father did not pay. The thought of being killed and not seeing my family, friends, or relatives sent a chill down my spine. This made me shiver while being knocked out. As soon as they left, I was abandoned and left alone in the cold, creepy basement behind a cell door that was shut. I finally passed out cold in the middle of nowhere, thinking about what could happen next.
