12. Awkward Study Date

Have you ever had one of those awkward dates where one of your family members, friends, or even someone you know comes up to you and starts small talk? Or, he says something that embarrasses you and will haunt you forever. Well, that happens to me all the time. Sometimes it is so embarrassing that I just want to hide in my bed under the covers and never come out of hiding. One time my brother crashed one of my "study dates," or that is what I told him, but it was a romantic date at the lake on the pack's territory with another wolf from another pack that lives on the outskirts of the borderline of our pack. That date was special, especially when I lost my virginity for the first time. There were blankets, a bonfire, candlelight, and a delicious romantic dinner.

It worked well until my overprotective brother showed up out of nowhere and scared the living hell out of me. He was standing there with his face as red as ghost pepper, and his hair was curled into a ball at his side. He growled so fiercely that my heart skipped a beat. As he sat in boxers, he looked as though he was about to pick me up half-naked in a blanket. Colton marched right up to me and picked me up in his arms without exposing me.

To take me home, he told me to get dressed and get my things quickly. He walked over to the guy and told him to stay away from me. I know my brother protected me, but that was uncalled for, which ruined my date and special night. Sometimes I wish we did not have twin telepathies for privacy, but it comes in handy, especially when we are in danger.

Anyway, today was another boring day until history class. I have the same class as Alex, which I am excited about, especially when we can spend time together. History class is right after math class, which is overwhelming, especially for my brain. Learning math and history hurts my head, but I cannot do anything about it.

I walked into history class with a smile on my face, and my eyes were glued to my phone while reading on this phone app, where I found tons of good books to read, such as classics and many other types of genres. I like classic books, but I read many types of books whenever I can. While walking to class, I accidentally bumped into a desk, which caused me to lose my balance. Luckily, Alex caught me in my arms. He caught me just in time, so I did not fall to the floor. When he grabbed me, I stared into his eyes, which made my heart skip a beat, which is like love at first sight. He began to say

"Hey cupcake, it's good I caught you before you became a flat pancake," he said while helping me from the floor.

"Yeah, sometimes I am not so adept at balance." "I am surprised my clumsiness does not affect my cheerleading," I said with a soft giggle while fixing my shirt.

"So, would you like to sit next to me in class since there are no assigned seats?" "We can plan our project out even more," he said while walking to a far desk table in the back of the classroom.

"Yeah, maybe we can get somewhere and plan more of our project since we are partners on the whole art and history project," I said as I sat on the chair and pulled some of my class items out of my book bag.

"Well, that sounds like a clever idea." "How about we meet somewhere after school, plan our project, and get something to eat?" He said it with a smile.

"Are you asking me for a study date?" I asked him while looking into those gorgeous eyes.

"Maybe I am; who knows, but would you like to be on a date with me tonight?" We can visit anywhere you want. He said it with a smirk and pulled out his notebook for class.

"I would love to, but my brother ruins all of my dates, even study dates." This is still rude of him. "I mean, I need to live my own life too," I said while copying down the notes from the board for the project.

Well, I see. Let's go to the café and bakeshop after school. Let's meet at 5 p.m. to chill while working on our project. "We can talk, eat, and hang out together," he said while dealing with boredom.

In the process of looking back at my notebook, I said, "Okay, but I cannot tell you that I said something about my brother coming to my date." "It's just that he can be embarrassing sometimes," I said, looking bored.

"Well, it's a date, and cupcakes—don't worry about dressing up because you are adorable just the way you are," he said with a slight blush and a cheesy smile.

"When you get to the shop around 5 p.m., you just bring your project stuff, and I will surprise you with my gorgeous eyes," he said.

"Okay, I will be there; see you there, and don't be late," I said, and I waved bye because the classes were over and it was time to head to the other classes of the day.

I walked out of the classroom to my locker to change classes. Suddenly, Kaylie jumped out of nowhere and scared the living shite out of me to the point where I turned white as a ghost. I smacked her on the arm so hard that she said...

"What was that for?" I did not mean to scare you that badly. I just wanted to know what you and Alecx were talking about in class instead of paying attention in class. "You better spill, or I will tell Colt about you for not paying attention and talking to him while flirting," she said while leaning on the locker behind her with her arms folded together.

"Well, fine, since you are my best friend, I will have to tell you before you scare me again or do something terrible like tell my parents." So okay, Alex walked up to me in class, and we started to talk. However, he asked me out on a study date tonight at Café and Bake. We will work on our project and hopefully get to know each other. Also, please do not tell Colt about it. "You know what happened last time on a date with a guy?" I replied to her while closing my bookbag and locking my locker.

"Okay, fine, but you better tell me everything afterward, and after school, let us get you all together so we can kiss those lips again." Do not worry; I know what to pick for your study date. "Oh, this is going to be extremely exciting, and I cannot wait," Kaylie said, wiggling her eyebrows at me.

School was so slow that it felt like a never-ending daydream. After finishing my classwork, withdrawing, or reading, I had something to distract myself from. Every time I look at the clock, my daydreams never end. After three hours of torture, I am finally free, which means freedom. As soon as I got my things from my locker, I met up with Kaylie to plan my dates. This included hair, makeup, outfits, and more. As soon as I got home, I walked to my bedroom with Kaylie to get ready for my study date. I took a long, hot shower after a stressful day of thinking about the date or how I would embarrass myself. After the shower, I got dressed and let Kaylie do my hair and makeup. When Kaylie started to work on my hair, Hazel walked in while eating a cookie that she stole when mom was not looking.

"Woah, you look pretty." "Are you heading somewhere, like on a date or something?" She asked while eating her cookie.

"Yeah, I am heading to a study date with a guy from school, but you can't tell anyone, or I guess I can't tell you where mom hides your cookies," I told her while looking at her.

"Fine, but what about dinner?" she asked while climbing onto my bed.

"I will be back in time, don't worry, and I'll grab you some of those cake pops you like so much," I said with a smile.

"Alright, you are finally done and look so damn pretty; he is going to kiss you again," Kaylie said while taking a final look at me.

"Have fun, Char, and boys have cooties." "You will not see me kissing a boy," Hazel said while making a disgusting face.

"Oh, you will kiss boys when you are our age." "Do not worry; they do not bite," Kaylie said with a kissy face.

"What time is it?" I asked them while I was getting ready.

"I have no idea; I can't tell the time," Hazel said with a confused face.

"It's about 4:30 p.m.; "you should get moving and tell me the details later when you get back," Kaylie said with a warm smile.

"Alright, I better get moving, and don't worry, I won't forget this secret," I told them while getting up from my make-up table and putting my bookbag on my left shoulder.

"Don't forget about my cookies, and I promise not to tell you," Hazel said with a grin on her face.

"Alright, I have everything I need, and I'll see you guys later," I said while walking towards the door.

After I left home, I drove to Café and Bake. This only took me fifteen minutes, and when I got there, I found my favorite spot right next to the fireplace. I opened my sketchbook and began to add more things to my art project when someone tapped on my shoulder and said,.

"Excuse me, miss, is this seat taken?" he asked, referring to Alex as the person in question.

"No, not at all." "Have a seat and stay for a while," I replied, closing my sketchpad and watching him pull out of the chair.

"Here, I brought you a rose, and I know it is cheesy, but I thought you should have this after all; this would be our first time studying together," he said with a cute smile.

"Thank you; it is really pretty, and have you ever been here before since you moved here?" I asked while smelling the red roses.

"No, this would be my first time, and I did hear someone say that this is your favorite place, and your favorite flower is a rose," he said while looking at the menu.

"Did Kaylie say something to you at school today or something, and she knows everything about me?" I asked while looking for my favorite sandwich on the menu.

"Excuse Charlie, are you ready to order?" Marley said this while standing next to me with her small notebook in one hand and a pen in the other.

"I would like to study favorites, and may I have some extra pickles?" I asked her.

"Sure, anything for you, and what would you like?" she said while writing it down.

As Alex handed her the menu, she said, "I guess I'll eat the same since I don't know what I want."

"Alright, I will leave you two cuties alone, and your food will be served shortly," she said with a cute smile.

"So how about we get started on this whole art history project that is due at the end of the semester?" he said with a wink that made my heart skip a beat.

"Well, we both know about our family history; maybe we can do that by comparing it with each other's family history in this town," I suggested.

"That would work, and this would be a piece of cake," he said while getting out his stuff and putting it on the table.

"Alright, I am about to start looking into my family history of the town, and well, I guess you can do yours," I told him while clicking the keyboard with my fingers.

"Sounds good. "I need to look up some of my family histories as well," he said while turning on his laptop.

After half an hour, our food is here. I am so hungry I can eat a cow—not literally, but close enough. While we were eating, we asked each other many questions to get to know each other, like favorite things and the basic stuff that everyone should know. We kept talking and laughing at each other's jokes about random stuff until the sun went down and the shop closed for the night. I looked at the time and said,.

"Oh sh*t, I have to get out... Umm... I missed my family dinner, and I must leave. Sorry, Marley. "Can you put my order on my tab?" I asked quickly.

"Yeah, don't worry, I got you covered, and here, give these to Hazel," Marley said, giving me a small bag of cake pops.

"Sorry, Alecx, I will text you later when I get back home," I told him while he paid for his food.

"Well, I will see you tomorrow at school," he said as we walked out the door.

"Yes, I am grounded or something and have a safe drive home," I said while walking to my car.

"Wait, you forgot something—your purse—and there were some pads and tampons that fell out," he said while trying not to look awkward.

"Umm... thanks," I said while grabbing my purse from his hand.

Just like that, his touch sent a thousand sparks, like fireworks, out of my body and made my heart skip faster than normal. He leaned in for a surprise kiss while holding me close to the point where my legs almost gave out. This was one of the most memorable kisses I have ever had in my life. I kissed him back, which made him blush even more, and he looked so cute when he blushed. We kissed for five minutes until Marley came outside and told us how cute it was. It made both of us blush more. We finally said our goodbyes and departed for our own home. As soon as I got home, I walked right to Kaylie's room and told her all about what had happened and how awkward the date was. Hopefully, our next date will be better and more fun than studying, which is boring at times.
