4. Chemistry Sparks

The next morning, after waking up to the loud alarm clock noise, I am now debating if I should get up and throw it out of my second-floor door window. My alarm clock can become very annoying at times or not go off, which makes me late for school sometimes. I woke up to a mess on my face. I turned my head to the left and saw my baby sister sleeping against me, which meant she must have either had a nightmare or just did not want to sleep in her room due to the guys who kept telling horror stories or showing her horror movies. As soon as I get my firsthand experience from them, they will learn a valuable lesson: What scares a four-year-old to have nightmares?

I honestly do not mind if she sleeps here or joins my girly sleepovers with Kaylie and other girls from the cheer team. Those girls love her to the point where they consider her part of them and like a little sister to them. She has a small stuffed animal named Luna, which I gave her when she was a baby. Although she doesn't need to do that, it is one of the sweetest things she does for me. Anyway, her eyes flew open, and she yawned, then smiled, which melted my heart. Then she said...

"Morning Char, I had a nightmare again due to the boys telling me horror stories. "One will haunt me so much that I cannot turn wolf when it is my turn," she said, rubbing her eyes after waking up.

"The boys shouldn't scare you like that." "How about we teach them a lesson after we wake up Kaylie, then let us get some breakfast?" I told her while stretching my arms in the air.

"Yes, let's do it." "They all fell asleep in the movie theater room, too. Let us soak them with water guns from the game room," she said while giggling.

It is perfect. At least you will not have to share a bathroom with those smelly mutts. "In addition, it is a girls' bathroom, so they will not be allowed in it without our permission," I said, getting up from the bed and holding Hazel.

After a few mixes, we reached Kaylie's bedroom in our pajamas. I was about to slip out...

BOOM! The sound of the door being kicked open by a child with a childish roar and Kaylie waking up screaming at the top of her lungs

"Jez Haz, you scared the hell out of me." We should put a cat collar with a bell on you. "I was dreaming of a hot guy from school," she said, sounding tired.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to; I thought it would be cute," she said while her sad puppy eyes were filled with fake tears and pride.

"You should have seen your face, Kay; it was funny and priceless too," I said while laughing.

"Bring it on; besides, the guys made Hazel have a night terror, and she couldn't find you because you were out on a date, so she slept in my bed last night," I told her while pulling Hazel's hair into a ponytail.

"Sorry, I was out late." "I wish we could have a girly sleepover," she said while getting dressed for the day.

"It's okay; now we can scare the boys and give them a lesson," Hazel said while rubbing her hands together with an evil grin on her face.

About five minutes later, we reached the movie theater room, ready to teach those boys a lesson about not scaring Hazel. We all got our water guns ready with ice-cold water and made our plan to scare them so convincingly that they did not want to scare her again. We are dressed in black from head to toe. Slowly, we enter the room, where the boys are fast asleep and have chocolate on their faces. As soon as I planned to take a picture of them sleeping, I accidentally took a video. Suddenly Hazel jumped onto the couch and yelled "Rawr!" so loudly that it scared the boys so much that they fell off the couch with a big thumping sound. We laughed for a while, then got ready for school.

When we got to school, it was the second day of school. A-B school schedule days mean we all have different classes than yesterday. Today I have chemistry, history, the gym, and some other classes that I do not remember. As soon as I got to my locker, I gathered some school supplies, notebooks, and books for my morning classes. I stuffed some granola bars into my mouth while walking into my first period. Someone bumped into me, and I lost my balance and fell to the floor. I almost broke the cast off my right lower arm. I looked up from sitting on the floor, holding my cast in place, when I saw a familiar face.

"Sorry, I didn't see you. Oh, hey Charlie, I'm sorry I bumped into you." "I got lost looking for this classroom," he said while looking all over the classroom, trying not to make eye contact with me.

"Yeah, sure, you didn't see me; I was in front of you." "What is wrong with you?" I yelled at once, in a state of pain and resentment at the same time.

"Well yeah, actually I am." "I was in a rush this morning because I was late and could not find my glasses," he said while looking at the floor, though he still could not make eye contact with me.

"Next time you are in an urgent situation, please be careful." "I am the one with the cast on," I said while walking to my desk in chemistry class.

"I'll be more careful next time and make it up," he said as he finally reached out to the cutest, saddest puppy face in the world.

When she put her long, messy brown hair in a ponytail, she said, "Oh whatever, next time it's your turn for fun."

The bell rang when I was replying to him, and the chemistry teacher walked into the room with his white lab coat on and a huge cup of coffee in his left hand while looking like he wanted to take over the world. He must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or had a rough summer teaching summer school. I already know he wants this second day over with. I do not blame him; I do too. Anyway, Alex sits next to me, drawing pictures I cannot see. When the teacher finished starting the class, he said:

"Good morning, class; my name is Mr. Oakland." I teach Chemistry 1 and 2 this year, so the person you sit next to at your lab station will be your partner. Please take some time to get to him or her because there will be no switching partners in class. If you have questions, please ask me. There is no way I get aggressive; maybe if you pissed me off, then I might be joking. All right, since it is not elementary school, I am not trying to have you stand up and introduce yourself because we have a lot to cover. So, let's start. Everyone, please take out your chemistry books, turn to the first chapter of Chapter 1, and let us get started. Please do not forget to bring your notebooks and something to take notes with, which will be on the projector and in your book. The important thing is to get the notes off the PowerPoint, no matter how much you write. I will let you copy the PowerPoint notes on the blackboard too, just in case you miss anything or are absent. All right, let's get started, everyone. "After the notes, we are going to do our very first simple project," he said while putting the notes up, so we could all copy them. Of course, the first chapter is about lab safety and what we will learn in this class.

Alecx, who is sitting on my right at our lab table, was not paying attention to his fantasy world. I started to think of any ideas that could help him snap out of his daydreaming until I finally got an idea, which I ended up saying...

"Alecx, we have a pop test on the notes." I hope you took notes since you cannot use your heat to escape this pop test. Anyway, we have our first lab to do, if you mind. "I would like to pass this class before I get in trouble," I said, looking at him angrily.

"It's okay, cupcakes; wait until your brother isn't here to come after me." "He looks scary when he's pissed off and protective," he said as he looked around.

"No, you are safe." He already took this class last year and accepted it too. "If we are in trouble with this class, we can always ask him or look at the notes he gave me to help," I told him while looking through my twin brother's Chemistry 1 and 2 binders of notes.

"Alright, cool, I will keep that in mind, but if we are, I don't know if we are studying in your room, and if you ended up on top of me because I tickled you or something like that, then your brother walked in on us; would he get mad and chase me out of the house or something?" He said this while blushing and looking so cute.

"Well, my baby sister did that to her school friend." He was on top of her, pinning her and tickling her, and boy did Colton get pissed about that. I said this while giggling a bit.

"So, what happened to the poor kid?" "Did he end up missing or something?" he asked while setting up our lab station for our lab today.

"He ran away from Colton whenever he saw him, so it took him a long time to be found," I explained.

"Well, at least I'm skilled at hide-and-seek; no wonder my little sister gave up after half an hour," he said while pouring the chemical liquid into the beaker on the desk.

"I didn't know you had a little sister too, and watch out for them." I said this while in shock when the beaker fell over with the chemical mix.

"Shit, sorry, cupcake. Here,  let me clean it up," he said while reaching over to grab the paper towels, while I grabbed more from the left side of the desk by the sink. Our hands touched with this firework chemistry spark that rippled through both of our bodies.

Suddenly, the bell rang for the next class. I knew it and what it meant from old memories, as well as the whole sex talk with my mom about finding your mate. I am so glad I got the talk from my mother instead of my dad. It would be so embarrassing for both of us, but for my brother, he got the whole sex talk. Anyhow, it was weird when our hands touched when I returned home to clean up the spill. I should tell my mother that I found my mate, but I do not know how my partners and brother will react. As soon as I cleaned up the table from the chemistry lab, I ran out as fast as I could. I tried not to blush or make eye contact with him.

I ran into history class with my twin brother. Oh, my goodness, he is the one I must tell, and I cannot lie to him. I hope he does not faint or something. He always has my back when it comes to secrets. Well, I might as well tell him in class before telling my parents at some point. I just want to make sure what happened is real. When I approached Colton and sat down at my desk, which was right next to his desk, I turned to my brother and said...

"Hey Colt, "Um, I found my soulmate, and well, um, he is a human," I said while looking down at my legs and trying not to make eye contact with him.

He said, sounding angry, "Hey twin, what did you just say, and how did you look at me this time?" at him.

While looking back at me and then looking around the room, he said, "Don't panic; wait until your brother isn't here to come after me." "He looks scary when he is angry and protective."

"No, you are safe." He already took this class last year and received a good grade as well. "If we are in trouble with this class, we can always ask him or look at the notes he gave me to help," I told him while looking through my twin brother's Chemistry 1 and 2 binders of notes.

"When he saw Colton, he ran away fast and hid well in the house, and it took a long time to find him," I said as I started the experiment.

"Well, at least I'm proficient at hide-and-seek; no wonder my little sister gives up after half an hour," he said while pouring the chemical liquid into the beaker on the desk.

"I didn't know you had a little sister too, and watch out for them." I said this while in shock when the beaker fell over with the chemical mix.

In response, he reached over to grab paper towels, and I was more than prepared to take over while our hands touched each other, shocking us with a firework chemical spark that struck both of us.

"I know what you just said, but why did you look at me this time?" He said it, sounding angry or something.

"I think I have found my soulmate, and he is human." I did not know I would find mine before sixteen. His name is Alex. He is in my art and chemistry class and on the football team. He is also the boy I introduced to everyone at lunch yesterday. I told him, "Can we keep this as our twin secret for now?" while making eye contact with him since he is the alpha in our group. It would be rude not to make eye contact with him.

"Well, I didn't get to meet mine yet, but I will when we both turn sixteen." "I will not tell anyone it is our secret, but we will talk about this soon in private," he said while giving me a surprise twin hug.

History class was boring. All we did was take notes about how to write a history paper. We also talked about our art and history project due in a couple of weeks. Anyway, I am stuck with Alex, which I cannot switch to, so it should be fun working with him. Since my twin knows what happened today, I know he is happy for me but worried about what could happen. This is because we rarely have both wolves and humans who are soulmates. This morning we all took the same car to school, so I barely spoke to Alex on the way home, so I don't have to talk about what happened with Alecx or have a long-term conversation. When I got home, I walked straight to my room without saying anything. I just wanted to be left alone and draw or write for a while. I also wanted to be left alone so I could think about what had occurred, how to deal with it, and tell my parents.
