2. The Pack

When we finally arrived at the lunchroom, which was mostly packed with other wolves and humans since our town mostly has humans rather than werewolves for our safety, I sniffed the air and smelled my wolves from about fifty feet away, thanks to my super wolf nose. I grabbed Alex's hand by his look. He looks like he enjoys it, like he wants to hold my hand all the time or something creepy. When we reached the table, my brother's pack of wolves looked at me with their eyes open. This was like they had witnessed a ghost or something. I looked down. I saw my hand still holding Alecx's hand, quickly let them down, and blushed like crazy. I saw Kaylie's eyebrows twitching up and down while giving her a "so hot, is this not your wolf purring yet?" expression. I swear, she always gives me that look when I am near a guy. Oh no, where is the time to find our mates? I just hope mine is not the kind of human who sucks, like sticky gum under a table or on the bottom of your shoe. Finally, Kaylie started to talk since the whole table was quiet as a mouse trying to sneak a piece of cheese into a trap.

"So, hottie, what's your name?" Are you a newbie here? How did you meet my best friend and sister? "Where are you from?" she asked while talking fast and recovering her breath.

I am a newbie here. I just moved here from a small town called Riverwood Hills in Washington. I just met Charlie in AP Art; we spent the rest of the day in the same classes. "If you have any further questions, please ask them, and don't be shy," Alec said as he looked around the table.

"You must like art, sports, and cars more than our Charlie." Isn't that right? Oh, I am Kaylie's best friend and sister. This is Troy, my twin brother. Right next to him are Hunter, Cassie, Jacob, Skylar, Max, and Lindsey. "There is one person who is too lazy to show up, and he will butter his butt there soon, so he can meet you," Kaylie said while cleaning out her purse, where she was looking for something.

"Nice to meet you all; how many twin sets do we have here?" Alecx asked as he glanced around, confused as hell by the look on his face.

"There are two sets of twins, and we just have two friends who are a lot alike, so basic things like a pair of twins and two peas in a pot, since one of each of their parents died, so both of the living parents fell in love and got married, so now there are siblings." Now the twins are Troy and Kaylie, and Charlie, her twin brother, speaking of the devil here, said, "It is about damn time I got hungry," Max said while trying to keep his stomach calm. "Boy, does that man get hungry?" It is like hearing an earthquake close by.

"Sorry, I'm late." The office ladies would not let me leave without telling them about the football team for this year, like goals and all that stuff. So, who minds? Char will tell me later. "Let us eat," he said before kissing my cheek while putting his tray of food down. I looked down in front of me, wondering where my lunch was. Well, oops, he forgot about me. Ugh. I got up to get lunch.

"Colty, you forgot my lunch." It is fine. I get it. It is no big deal; you need to eat. "Are you coming to Alex?" I asked while getting up and grabbing my wallet for lunch.

About a couple of minutes later, Alex and I were standing in line to get our food. I paid for him since he was indeed newly acquired and, oh my gosh, delicious. I wish he was my lunch. He focuses on Charlie, telling himself to calm the hell down; there is no need to become hyper or anything. Anyway, today's lunch was Mac 'n' Cheese with mini corn dogs, freshly baked brownies, salad, and a choice of drinks. I got all the food since I am a wolf, and I am hungry. In addition, I love eating a salad with French dressing and having a bottle of water. Alecx, on the other hand, did not have a salad; he had a plate of mini corn dogs, a bag of chips, and soda. We walked back to the table and started talking.

"Alecx, this is my overprotective twin brother, Colton." He is older by five minutes. Colty, this is Alecx, the new guy I met in art class. Oh, and did you get your classes switched to mine like you wanted to? I said this while pouring the dressing onto my delicious salad.

"Nice to meet you, Alecx, and yeah, Char, I did." "You had better help me with art." "I swear I do not want to get a poor grade, so I cannot play ball," Colton said while eating some chocolate chip cookies and trying to speak properly.

"Ditto, dude. Your sister is hot. Can I tap that, if you do not mind? Alex said, his face red as if he had said something wrong. Colton's face was red and angry. food in his mouth and a plastic fork in his hand.

"Brother, he's kidding; it's just a joke; relax; he won't even try; he will have to go with us if he wants to touch any of our girls," Jacob said with a serious face while looking at Alex when the lunch bell rang.

When the lunch bell rang, it was time to head to our last three classes of the day. These were auto, gym, and free periods, all with the same last class. When the free period arrived, I found out that Alex was trying out for the football team. I just hope my brother takes it easy on him. He said he was proficient at being the kicker—the guy who kicks the ball into the space between the upper posts of the football goal. Kaylie and I were on our way to pick up Hazel from school and get something to eat. While we were on our way, we could not stop talking about Alec. He was so dreamy, hot, and sexy, and, oh boy, he was my type. I can tackle him and lick anything tasty off of him. He reminds me of the guy who was in the woods near my house that one night when I walked to my private clubhouse.

Anyway, we picked up Hazel. She practically ran to the car when she saw it, like a spy on a top-secret mission. I must admit that seeing her run like that made me laugh, and her expression was as if she knew she wanted ice cream. We always stop at the cave ice cream place, where wolves always spend time together, eating or doing whatever people do. I ordered the extra-large banana split with extra toppings. I know Hazel will cry if she gets the ice cream right. However, Josh, it is just ice cream and not the end of the world. We ate the ice cream as fast as we could so we could go back to the high school for cheerleading tryouts. Kaylie and I were co-captains, and Hazel practiced and helped the team.

About ten minutes later, we are finally at school on the practice football field, ready for tryouts, all dressed in our practice clothes. They were playing around on their field. Whatever the guys do until their tryouts, I know our brothers help the football coaches with their tryouts. I hope Alex makes the team. I spotted him at a fountain without a shirt. I swear, I could have had a heart attack. I mean, he is hot. I noticed bow and arrow-type tattoos on his upper back area, right between the shoulder blades, in black ink.

It also has a weird word in a different language right under the tattoo. Next time I see him or wait for an appropriate time to ask him, I will do so. I snapped out of my daydreaming about Alec and Hazel. She said something I could not hear.

"Kaylie needs you back in the cheering area." Let us get started. Come on. "Charlie, are you listening to me?" "Hazel," while tugging on my arm, trying to get my attention.

"Sorry, Haz, what did you say?" I zoned out, saying, "I apologized," giving her my most adorable puppy eyes and face, hoping she would forgive me.

"Hey! I can only use that sad puppy's eyes and face. Besides, it is no wonder why guys cannot say no to princess parties." And Kaylie wants you back for tryouts," Hazel said while dragging me back to the girls.

Finally, let's get this tryout started. Everyone, please stretch and get ready a bit. "We do not want injuries," Kaylie said while looking at the clipboard with all the girls' names on it, then handed it to Hazel.

"Sorry, I was distracted by a hottie on the football field with the guys." Okay, I am here, so let us start by introducing everyone, including us, the co-captains, and our manager. Charlie is my name. This is my best friend, Kaylie, and this is my little sister, Hazel. She is the manager of the team, but she likes to help us out, so if anyone needs something, go to her. "So now Hazel is going to be in trouble," I said while looking at every girl who was trying out.

Hazel, if you could do your thing, you would know what to do. Okay, everyone pays attention when Hazel calls your name, introducing you. "Do not forget to say what cheer position you are in," Kaylie said while grabbing the whistle around her neck, just in case.

"Ready girls, now when I call your name, please tell us how you got in cheer, any flips you can do, and some background too. Emily, Becca, Hannah, and finally Megan, it's your turn, guys," Hazel said.

Emily stepped forward to introduce herself: "Hi, my name is Emily, but you can call me Em for short." I started cheerleading when I could walk, and it helped me with my gymnastics. I can do front and back flips with tricks here. "Let me show you," she said before she got into her position and started doing many flips, twists, and jumps.

Kaylie, Hazel, and I noticed that she was an incredibly proficient power tumbler; the look on her face and her mouth were open as she saw herself on television. With that performance, I remembered that she needed to be added to the team. The other girls took their turn, which they did amazingly. Hazel wanted to show them her tricks and dances, which I had no problem showing off. After we took a break while all the girls watched the guys' football tryouts, I noticed Alecx standing around the team water cooler, drinking water from his water bottle. He looks hot. I mean, not enough water can stop him from being so hot. I need to control my female wolf hormones before they get out of hand. Anyway, it was the end of cheerleading and football tryouts. We all hopped into the two vehicles and headed home, while I died hungry. I know everyone is too.

When we got home, which only took about fifteen minutes, we all showered, changed, and were ready for dinner. Our family dinner is just the Alpha and Beta families; we live in the same mansion, and we are also a family. I was thinking in my head while walking down the stairs, while Hazel skidded down the stairs with her favorite stuffed animal. This is indeed a gray-white wolf named Skylex. I wonder how the tryouts turned out for the guys and Alex. I hope he makes the team. I would love to see him on the field playing ball while I cheer from the sidelines. Finally, I reached the dining room and sat down in my favorite chair while the rest of the family sat in theirs. Since it was not the girls' turn to choose dinner, the guys picked their favorites, which are usually simply basic sports-type food. My mother was the first to speak, and she asked us.

"Darling, how were the tryouts?" She asked, cutting up her bloody steak just the way she liked it.

"Football tryouts were a blast." There is a new player who is a good football player. He has played since he was a kid. He sure does make a particularly good running back and kicker. He has such a powerful kick that every time he kicks the ball, it goes straight into the goalpost. Colton said this as he cut his bloody-rare steak to his liking.

"The cheer tryouts were impressive." Some new girls were also doing well. Some of them did cheerleading, dancing, and gymnastics while growing up. "I think we will become state champions again," Kaylie said while pouring some iced sweet tea into her glass. Hazel held her glass for Kaylie, saying she wanted some of the drink.

"Today at school, I got finger paint." I painted myself in wolf form. I always wanted to know what I looked like as a wolf. "It stinks that I did not get to change yet," Hazel said while poking her fork into tiny pieces of steak.

"You will soon, sweetheart; don't worry; not everyone transforms at once, just in their own time, and I have a feeling you will very soon." While Aunt Karen said she helped Hunter cut his steak, he always needed help cutting his steak.

"That would be sweet if you got a rare royal wolf birthmark, like a prophecy or something." "If you do have one in your wolf form, you would be leagued," Hunter said with a killer smile on his face.

"Ooo... like a half star and the moon, now that will fit your personality, plus I hope you don't get it on your butt, although that would be funny," Troy said while laughing, trying not to choke while having some bloody, chewy steak in his mouth.

"Today in the office, I saw this extremely cute bunny hopping around the room while I worked with Adam." "We almost thought it was free food that was just there waiting for us to eat it, plus I was thinking of a bunny burger for an afternoon snack before dinner," my dad said while cutting his steak up with an evil, funny grin on his face.

"NOO! Not ginger! Do not dare touch my bunny. Hazel yells at the top of her lungs, her brows knotted and her steak knife poised in her hand. She is ready to stab someone if the unexpected happens.

Haz, relax, and breathe. He was kidding. He will not do it, so please put the knife down. You look funny in that. Hmm... I may as well use it for my screen background. Ahh... "Well, it is set and done," Luke said while clicking some buttons on his phone while Ian looked over his council president's shoulder.

"Send me that photo; I will attach it to her door, but on a poster with the caption "Don't let her out, oh, you will be my next meal in bold letters," Ian said while he tried to hold his stomach while dying laughing, not trying to fall off his chair.

Hazel glanced down with a straight, sarcastic expression. "Oh, ha-ha, really funny dad and Uncle Ian," Hazel said, smiling sarcastically.

"Anyway, who wants dessert?" How about some delicious peanut butter and chocolate pie? "Boys, wipe that drool off your chin." "It makes you look like a little girl who just saw a hot superstar walking by," Mom said while holding the dessert while Aunt Lily followed her with some extra plates and forks to the dinner table.

When you see a hot girl walking past you, you also look like that. You should use your fast-footed football skills to scoop them off their feet. "You should do whatever you do that I do not want to know," Kaylie said with an evil smirk on her face.

We ate a double chocolate and peanut butter cream pie with vanilla ice cream and lots of whipped cream. Hazel had her dessert all over her face. She eats messy, her favorite dessert. When dinner was over, we all cleaned up the dining room table. The guys headed off to walk to their first-day back-to-school tradition run while we girls were setting up for a movie night in the movie theater with popcorn, drinks, pillows, and blankets. Hazel always loves movie nights, especially when it is her turn to pick the movies. We always end up watching a family movie with a sad dog death scene. I swear she is the first person who ends up crying when the sad death part happens. During half of the movie, the guys burst through the movie, smelling all sweaty and out of breath from the run. Mom made them all go take showers and change into pajamas for the rest of the movie night.
