3. The Art Project

The next morning, I woke up to birds chirping and the warm sun coming from my open glass window doors. This was on my comfortable queen-size bed. It was like an idyllic, peaceful summer morning that was not too hot but just right. I got up from my warm, comfortable bed and walked to find Hazel, so we could make breakfast together like we always do. Since she wasn't in her bed, I checked Colton's bed because she also sleeps there. When I found her, I was right. She was stretched out with her arms and legs out, lying on her back with her tongue sticking out. This was like a dog enjoying a car ride with an open window blowing in her face. I feel sorry for Colton because he got kicked out of bed by our baby sister. It was so cute that I had to pull out my phone to take a picture. As soon as my phone flashed "off," Colton jumped up like a zombie from his bed. He made a coffin ready for a hunting feast at a very scary cemetery on Halloween, which scared me half to death.

As soon as I got my heart back and was breathing in the right rhythm, which it should be, Hazel woke up with a confused look, like she had missed something funny, which she did. Colton's hair was messy as usual, with some covering his eyes slightly. I do not know why he likes it so much. I think he would look better with a haircut with spiky parts. When Hazel saw Colton's half-asleep, half-zombie look, she laughed so hard that she fell off the bed, tears coming out of her eyes and sounding like a whale having an asthma attack. After ten minutes, we laughed. Due to what had just happened, it was finally time to make breakfast. My stomach growled with hunger at that time. If I do not get food soon, I might pass out or attack. As soon as we got everything back to where it was in his bedroom from the small freak accident he just had while walking down the tall spiral wooden stairs, I slipped on the edge of the stairs and took a quite clumsy tumble down the stairs. It happened so fast that I blacked out. I did not think I could hear her, but I could.

When I woke up from being unconscious while lying at the bottom of the stairs, I started to think about where I was. I wondered if I was dead, what was happening, and many other things as well. I swear, I have terrible karma from random gravity checks. I am sure I bruised my right wrist and hand. It is good that it wasn't my left hand, which is my dominant hand. It is bruised, black, and blue, and it hurts like hell. I was referred to the pack doctor, who worked at the local hospital in the emergency room. I wanted to see if she could do her wolf magic on my hand. She made me take some X-rays and told me that I had a bruise and a fracture, which is why I will have fun wearing a cast for a few weeks to months. Well, this should be fun with a cast. I hope I can get it off before the Halloween moon festival since I would have to turn into a wolf while the full moon is out in the night sky. In human form, if you break or fracture a bone, you will let it heal. However, in wolf form, it is different from healing.

Anyway, when the nurse told me it was time to pick out the cast colors, I chose white so I could draw on it. I was thinking of some of my favorite things, like wolves or something. Since this town is a mix of humans and wolves, the hospital emergency rooms are very wolf-friendly, with physicians who are also werewolves. About thirty minutes after leaving the hospital, I was late for school. This was not unpleasant since I had to stop for breakfast. Well, it should be fun to explain to the teacher and everyone else at school why I was late. I have a cast on my wrist and half of my arm. I am glad I have pain pills that the emergency room doctor prescribed to ease the recovery pain. I still wish I were in my wolf form to heal, so I would not have to wear this thing.

As soon as I walked into school, I walked straight to the office to give them my note explaining why I was late. After I left, I took my second class, an art class. I can finally use the class to decorate my plain white cast. This should be fun telling people what happened and why I was in a cast all day. I hope people do not freak out because it can get annoying to repeat the whole story each time.

As soon as I walked into art class, twenty pairs of eyes stared at me. I just walked in like I had been missing for a month or something, which sounds like it should be on the news. It is wonderful that today is free time, so I can decorate my cast with permanent markers. Since it was a free day in art, I asked the teacher if it was okay to borrow her off-limits markers. She said yes. After I grabbed the marker's walker and returned to my seat, I put my headphones in and started to draw a small wolf pup with the sun, the moon, and the star birthmark that my sister might get when she turns into a wolf for the first time. Once again, my earbuds got taken out of my ears. He had this confused look on his face while looking at my almost-finished cast.

"What happened?" Are you okay? Are you in pain? How did this happen? "I did not see you this morning in your car parking spot with the others," Alecx asked while trying to catch his breath like he had run a marathon with a red face. "

"Calm down; it is just an accident." It will heal in time. "The reason I was not there with my group is that I was in the emergency room getting this thing on with other tests. "It is only going to be on for about a month or so, and I hope it comes off before Halloween. "Wait, you were looking for me this morning?" I asked, looking confused at him. I was not sure if he had a crush on me or was just being a caring friend who happened to be a hottie.

"Um, no, I was not." I just thought, "Well, maybe..." "You wanted to walk to class or get some breakfast," he said while blushing and trying to function normally.

"Sorry about that; how about a rain check tomorrow or soon?" I asked, trying not to blush and acting like a girly girl.

"Yeah, sure, my mom stares at us from her desk." I heard about this art project we are starting today. Do you want to be my project partner?

"I don't mind being partnered with you." Do you know what the art project will be about? I asked nervously and tried not to blush while looking down at my desk.

"Yeah, I do, but I am not allowed to tell you because it will ruin them, and that would be rude," he said while staring into my eyes and doing the adorable puppy dog look that always works for people.

"Attention class, welcome back to art class." Today we will be doing a project that involves a partner and is about the history of this town with werewolves and hunters that dates back about a hundred years. Yes, I know there is a war between werewolves and hunters in this town. This means choosing an art project that involves all three types of people. So, the idea of this art project is to mix everyone up and get to know each other as partners. I am hoping this project will work since I noticed that a few of your students are having problems with each other. Before I call names, I want to explain this project. In each group, you will have to use your art skills to make an art portrait of your partner with an essay on them. This will enable you to get to know each other. This will be due at the end of the month. I am giving you enough time to collect information, compose the paper essay with the art piece, and remember to be creative. So let us start with names. The first pair are Alex Knightly and Charleigh Hale. "You know this will take more time, so the list is posted on the board, and remember, no switching partners," she said while finishing her short lecture to the class and fixing her mess of papers on her desk.

"Hey, cupcake?" "Do you want to start this project now or wait until it is too late?" Alecx asked, staring at me from his desk, which was next to mine.

Did you just call me a cupcake? Do you have any other nicknames you would like to use for me? It would be better for me to be called that way than what others call me. I said this while staring at my blank notebook paper, trying to think of an idea for this project.

"Yeah, I did, but I will save them for later." "But cupcakes are an ideal fit because you have frosting and sprinkles on the outside but just one flavor on the inside," he said while winking and blushing.

We should save them, but start this project. I have one question for you: Is Ms. Knightly your mother? "Did you do something to bring us together as partners?" I asked him while jotting down some ideas in the notebook.

"Yes, she is my mom, and I asked her if it was okay for us to be partners. She was fine with it," he said while looking around the art room, trying not to make eye contact.

"Good, maybe that is a good thing, or before I forget, the class will ring." We should swap phone numbers, just in case we both have questions. I said while writing down my phone number that I hoped my twin brother would not get mad at me for doing this since he is the older one and the protective Alpha.

Okay, well, here is mine, and I am always here in the art room when I am not at football practice or somewhere else. "Also, see you around; I hope at lunch," he said while swapping numbers just before the bell rang. "Time to switch classes."

About ten minutes later, it was time to go to history class. I was ready to get this day over with due to having so much homework and then cheerleading and football practice with the meeting. I hope I do not have another project to do, which will be frustrating. I hope it does not have to be like an art class. Once I got to my locker, I switched on the books and other things I would need for the rest of the day since the morning classes flew past like a sonic flash bolt at the speed of time.

As soon as I closed my locker door, my twin brother's face popped out of nowhere, frightening me half to death. He stared at me like he wanted to yell at me. I do not know if I am in trouble or not, but he looks angry.

"Hey, Colt, what's up?" "Are you okay?" "You look angry," I asked him while taking my cheerleading jacket out of my locker.

"Yeah, I am because I am having trouble with this whole art and history project." I have a girl for the project, and she is cute. "However, the problem is that I do not know how she will react to me being a wolf," he said while looking at his phone and texting one of his football teammates.

"Well, I don't know her, but what is her name?" I asked while double-checking my bookbag for all the things I needed for the last class of the day, which was my twin brother.

"Her name is Emily." She was at your cheerleading tryouts the other day. I knew I could not fight him. "Here, give me your bookbag; I will carry it to class for you," he said, looking down and giving me his twin brother's look, which I knew I could not fight.

"Okay, here you go; let's go to math class." I heard that art and history teachers put this huge project together, which is helpful because we can spend two whole class periods with homework time getting this project done. Oh, Emily seems like a nice girl. "I am putting her on the team." "Just do not tell her that, yet she must wait until we deliver the news," I said while we walked into history class together. The other girls in the class did not know I was his twin sister.

When the final bell rang, we were all ready to head home after a long day. I am surprised I did not see Alex at the end of the day when his locker was close to mine. I guess he is in the art room while his mom leaves for the day. I cannot stop thinking about him and this huge art project. I have no clue what to do for this project, but I can draw him in pencil. Well, I have some time to think about different ideas. I am glad that the first year of junior year has passed by fast since today I do not have to cheer. I decided to return home and sketch some ideas for the art project. This will take a while because I have so many clever ideas for this art and history project.
