13. Secrets from the Past

Have you ever had a secret, especially from the past? My family always has secrets from the past. These secrets include family secrets and wolf pack secrets that no one should know outside of the family or the wolf pack. Sometimes our secrets get exposed. in the deep forest behind the packhouse, suffocating people or animals while worshipping the devil. Just kidding, I joke about that; I don't even do anything like that. We are the type of pack where we do our traditions, such as throwing a huge bash to celebrate the significant things in our packs. This includes weddings, new-age wolves, birthdays, and many others.

For many years, my family and the pack have had many secrets and legends that trace back hundreds of years. It has been passed down from generation to generation with many traditions. One of the most significant celebrations is the Harvest Festival. It is like a huge festival where everyone in the town comes out together and celebrates. It traces back hundreds of years. When it first started, some things were sacred, which no one outside of the pack knew about until there was a traitor in the pack who was a rouge. It was the story of a tragic night. He came onto the pack's territory without permission in the middle of the night with a small group of rogues. He helped kill the two top families, the Alpha and Beta families, in the middle of the night. Ever since then, the pack has always kept its legends and secrets private, so nothing like that will happen again, especially with having two females in the next line for Alpha and Beta, which is the first time in werewolf history and especially for our pack.

Anyway, when I was a little girl, my grandma often told me about all kinds of legends, secrets, and other things that you should not know as a child. This is just in case you have a nightmare. She always told me hunters were vampires who hurt or killed us. There is always going to be a way for our number one enemy to learn our secrets and legends, destroying us for the last time in our history. Lucky for me, I have never dealt with a hunter before, and I hope never to. My grandma was an elder. She died of old age, and God blessed her heart. She was the kind of person who constantly took care of the younger pups while the parents worked or needed someone to look after them. When the kids in the secret society of hunters were around campfires, she told them stories about our legends. There are people with secrets and legends. My grandma kept a journal of all the legends and secrets she learned over the years.

I walked into the big library, took one of my grandma's many journals, and placed it on an incredibly special shelf. I took the first journal she wrote. I walked to my favorite spot in the library with a window looking out into the woods. There is lots of sunlight coming through the window. I sat down on the window seat, opened the notebook, and began reading. Werewolves are known as "lycanthrope," which is a late Old English word (e)Wulf, which is a combination of the words "man" and "wolf." Greek mythology tells Lycaon's legend. According to legend, Lycaon, the son of Pelasgus, angered the god Zeus when he served him a meal made from the remains of a sacrificed boy. Werewolves were first mentioned in sixty AD and originated in Europe; there are many other myths from Latin, Rome, and many other places around the world. Some scholars believe the werewolf debuted in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known Western prose. This is when Gilgamesh jilted a potential lover because she turned her previous mate into a wolf. The father-son duo donned pelts, transformed into wolves, and began a killing rampage in the forest.

As I read, Hazel said...

"What are you reading?" she asked while looking at the old journal that looked like it was starting to fall apart.

It is an old journal that Grandma wrote a long time ago to preserve our heritage and our pack's legends and secrets. Uncle Ian should come soon to explain it to us. "Where are the boys?" I asked while closing the notebook and standing up from the couch next to the window.

"I have no idea; they might still be in their beds kissing girls." Eww. "You have cooties now, and you better not kiss me on the cheek or the forehead because I will kick them in the nuts or something," Hazel said, sounding a bit angry.

"Hazel, you know what mom said about kicking boys in the nuts?" "It is not ladylike or rude," I told her.

"Yeah, that's true, but it's not my fault." "You raised me, and I do not want to forget that," she said and giggled.

"Well, that's true, but we didn't raise you to become a rogue wolf pup; that's all on Colton and Troy," I told her while helping her put her notebook on her desk.

"Hey, we didn't teach her anything." "She needs to learn to defend herself from one or something even worse," Troy said while walking into the library.

"What is more dangerous than a rogue?" "Is there something more deadly than one?" Hazel asked as she embraced her stuffed animal in a hug.

"Well, there is a legend about a night creature." Legends suggest that he or she is a vampire who trains to capture and kill any werewolf they see or know of. There was a time when a whole pack was wiped out by vampires. They captured Luna and did many terrible things to her. As Uncle Ian sat up at the end of the long table, he said, "It is said that she was the only one who survived during the battle while her partner, the Alpha, was killed."

"Yeah, I will have nightmares tonight." "Thanks for scaring me," Hazel said while hiding behind Hunter.

"It's alright; no one will ever hurt you or anyone in this room," Colton said with a smile on his face.

"Don't forget me; I will always help Colt tear someone apart, and besides, what kind of brother would I be if I didn't protect my siblings?" Troy said with a smile on his face while thinking, "tearing someone to shreds."

"What are we talking about?" I thought I had heard about vampires. "My gosh, male vampires are so damn yummy with their six-pack abs; I can just lick some whipping cream off them anyway if I ever meet one," Kaylie said while walking into the library.

"Kaylie, Hazel is in the room, and she doesn't need to do anything like that." "She is way too young to know about that type of stuff," I said while covering her ears.

"Oh my God, I am so sorry. I read too many original adult fiction books, and I am sorry, Hazel," Kaylie said while feeling embarrassed.

Anyway, we sat at the long table in the library. As the lesson dragged on for a few hours, I was dying of hunger to the point where I just daydreamed of licking whipped cream off Alex's six-pack abdominal muscles. For a moment, I picture him sleeping in his bed, lying there with his messy hair all over the pillow. He is wearing his white, tight-fitting t-shirt, with his abdominal muscles showing through his shirt and his boxers hugging his hips. I can smell his body wash and cologne. This scent is memorized in my head, and I can always smell it if he is close by. I have been daydreaming about him constantly since the first time I saw him. My grandma always said that if you find your mate, he or she will always be on your mind, even if you never think of him or her. Immediately after class ended for the day, I noticed Colt staring at me and speaking to me.

"Um, whatcha dreaming about? You are drooling; are you dreaming of having deer tonight for dinner or something? Because tonight we get to show Hazel how we hunt in wolf form, and she will have to learn, especially when she turns into a wolf pup at Harvest Festival in about a month," Colt said with a grin, and he loves teaching his pack to hunt with the help of his close group of leaders who just happen to be his family.

"Um, nothing." Maybe daydreaming about someone or the taste of sinking my teeth into a deer's neck or feeling the warm blood rush out of me like eating a chocolate piece of candy with caramel," I said while wiping the drool off my chin.

"What the fuck did I just hear?" Hazel asked with a weird look on her face while standing with her mouth hanging open.

"Oh sh*t, I forgot she was a pup, and did she just cuss?" Troy laughed.

"Guys, watch your language around her." "After all, she is only five, and if the elders hear her saying naughty words, they might have a heart attack or something," Kaylie said while cleaning up her stuff.

"I won't tell you if you don't." Everyone agrees?" Hunter said this while trying to get everyone on the same page.

"Oh sh*t, I mean, oh fudge, here comes Uncle Ian." "Everyone quits, and no one says anything," I said while trying to cover myself by saying cuss words in front of Hazel.

"What's going on, everyone?" Hazel, are you ready to see what we do to hunt for the Harvest Festival? We will go out tonight around dawn and practice. "You do not need to do anything but watch." Uncle Ian said this with a big smile on his face.

"Nothing; they are just telling me how fun it is to spend time hunting in the woods tonight and watching what you guys do." Hazel.

After Uncle Ian left the library, we all signed in satisfaction, knowing he would never know what Hazel had said earlier. The boys took Hazel to find some camouflage clothes for her to wear. This is so she can feel like she is hunting with us tonight. Kaylie and I had a secret girl talk about what I dreamed about in school.
