Chapter 8: A Storm of Emotions

Date: (Present) May 15, 2019. The day they decided to break apart.

Another day was up. Morning routines were made as usual again. When will this pattern end? both Bonnie and Devon thought.

Bonnie got up of the bed as well as Devon.

"Bon, I have to go to work early today. We have another meeting regarding the company we've partnering with. I won't have to get my breakfast today again," Devon started speaking up just as he was preparing his clothes and towel to take a bath and get ready.

"It's alright. I'll be going early as well. We have to rush something for our client," Bonnie replied. She wasn't in a good mood lately because of the stress she has been having due to their work.

"What project are you working on? You seem very worn out last night so I was worried," Devon asked. He and her wife might be having problems but it doesn't mean that he'll stop thinking and worrying about Bonnie.

"We're redoing a project, Dev. Are you going to take a bath?" Bonnie replied impatiently, raising an eyebrow while asking her husband a question.

Bonnie wasn't really feeling like having a conversation even though she knows this conversation might be a good way to fix tension with her husband because of their fighting recently. She was having a bad intuition again after avoiding the conversation with Devon but Bonnie really wasn't up for a talk at that moment.

'I need to save my energy for later. Ughh, I'm too tired,' Bonnie thought inside her head.

"You can go shower first," Devon stared at Bonnie, looking a bit worried.

As both of them dressed up for work, they bid good bye to each other. Devon and Bonnie go in their separate ways. The two of them did the same thing before going at the office though. They bought a sandwich and coffee on cafe shops located near their workplace. Coincidence? maybe, they are really made for each other? who knows?

Bonnie's day was really tiring as the firms she works at were rushing the project for XYZ Corporation, their biggest client and shareholder. Devon, on the other hand, was busy in his office due to pending works, meeting, and planning.

When Bonnie and Devon got safely in their own offices, they started working immediately with work the only focus in their mind.

"I NEED THE DRAFT! WHERE'S THE DRAFT FOR XYZ!," A colleague of Bonnie shouted while on the verge of panic

"The meeting for the our partner company will be from 9 am-6pm with only 2 breaks on sched,"

"SOMEONE CALL XYZ CORP. ASK THEM WHAT THEY WANT FOR...,"

"Just like I said, the company needs to have their financial reports...,"

"BONNIE, YOU SHOULD DO THE...,"

"THE TASK IS ASSIGNED TO YOU MR. DEVON KIM,"

The scenes at both Bonnie and Devon's office were almost the same. Everyone was on riot. It was like a scene from every movie. The only difference is that Devon's workplace isn't rushing anything so it's a bit calmer.

Time flies by and neither Bonnie nor Devon noticed it. They were too busy on what they were doing in their own workplace. It was already 10 pm. Both of them decided to stop their overtime for the day and go home and rest.

"Janna, I'll go home for today. You should too. We can finish our drafts first thing in the morning tomorrow, " Bonnie told her colleague.

"I will after I photocopy this file. Keep safe Bonnie!," Janna replied while holding up the papers she'll be photocopying.

At exactly 10 minutes, Bonnie arrived in their apartment just minutes after Devon arrived. Both of them looked at each other.

"Oh hey, you've just gotten home too?" Devon started the conversation as soon as he noticed Bonnie from the door.

"Yeah. Have you just got here? you haven't even changed your clothes yet." Bonnie replied to her husband, making her way to the sofa beside her husband.

"I just got here a minute before you came in," He said.

Bonnie just nodded at Devon. She was to tired to speak again. she literally can't do anything in that condition.

"Bon, have you eaten your dinner yet?," Devon, once again started to speak.

"I did,"

"I haven't had mine," Devon replied calmly. He was too tired to do anything too so it made him wonder if Bonnie can at least make something for him. Besides, It's been days since he ate something Bonnie made. Somewhere deep inside him really missed his wife's cooking.

"That's not my problem. Don't bother me, find something yourself," Bonnie answered making Devon flinch a bit. Her tone was rude but he has yet to notice. She blurted it out of the blue. The exhaustion she was feeling at the moment was making her too agitated at small things.

"I really like your cooking Bon. It's been a while since--,"Devon was cut off what he was saying as Bonnie raised her voice.

"I'm really tired, okay? can't you just... You should get your own and let me rest for a while since you aren't even helping me in this damn household!," Bonnie stood up from the sofa and faced Devon. Her hands brushing through her hair.

Devon was startled when Bonnie's anger started heating up. He was starting to get his emotions to flare up as well. Seems like Bonnie wasn't the only one agitated due to work.

"I am too tired of this household thing! Are we going back to this stupid topic again!," Devon didn't want to hear this topic again. Mostly, every night, they argue because of some small random thing then it will eventually fall into this household topic again.

"Well, that's how it is Von! You aren't the only one whose tired here. I am sure you were going to demand me again to do chores for you because you're too freaking lazy! Face it!"

Devon's eyebrows were furrowed, his eyes focusing on the person in front of him. He just wanted to eat something for tonight but he already lost his appetite because of this stupid fight again.

"I wish I had dinner with someone like Erin who's headstrong and doesn't have a big mouth like you. That's a hundred percent better than be stuck in this house and argue with someone like you," Devon unexpectedly blurted out remembering the girl who he compared Bonnie to. What he didn't notice was that he mentioned another woman's name.

"Then, why didn't you had dinner with another girl then! You should have been really happy. It would have been a less of a burden for me,"

She really have lose her temper right after he mentioned Erin. Jealousy added to what she was feeling. It was a bit harsh for her to say but she didn't care. She wanted to say the things she's been keeping and repressing to preserve their stupid marriage.

Devon realized that what he said was wrong. His eyes softened a bit but on the opposite of him, Bonnie was really mad at the moment. As her husband look at her with guilt, he saw that Bonnie's emotion really exploded. What she said next caused another commotion between the both of them.

"Bonnie, I'm sorry, it's not what you--," Again, Devon was cut off what he was going to say. He didn't want his wife to get the wrong idea of him dating or liking another woman besides his wife.

"I DIDN'T THOUGHT YOU LIKED SOMEONE ELSE, I'M SORRY I GOT IN YOUR WAY. I THOUGH YOU WERE JUST A LAZY ASS IN THIS HOUSE BUT I GUESS YOU'RE WORSE!," Bonnie yelled. She was fuming at Devon. Their fight really escalated quickly.

"How could you frame me for being a cheater! Haven't I been loyal and faithful in this stupid marriage?"

"The hell I know who you've been going out with?"

Devon was really frustrated with Bonnie's replies. She didn't seem to listen to what he was saying. He wanted to end this stupidity once and for all so he said what he has to say.

"I'm too freaking tired to deal with you Bonnie! You and your big mouth! My god, I just asked you to cook why do you even have to freaking fight with me! I'm really tired in this stupid marriage. If only you weren't the one I married maybe I would be living my life as what I imagined. I should have married my first crush or girlfriend instead of you Bon! Maybe they aren't like you who uses her mouth to much to blame her husband ," Devon shouted on the top of his lungs. He really can't deal with any of their foolish marriage anymore. He really exploded this time.

"That's the problem with you Von! You don't even realize that I'm freaking tired as well! Not everyone revolves around you! I work too Von, I feed myself so don't you even tell me that you're the only one working and that my existence is just a burden to you because I do all the work in this house without you even helping you lazy freaking guy! Fine, I shout at you most of the time because of how frustrated I am to have a self-centered husband like you. I thought the same too, maybe if you were not the one I married, I would feel like a queen now. I don't think this relationship of ours is working anymore, Von," She argued like a mad woman. This is the only time her emotions get ahead of her. She was on the verge of crying because of being too annoyed, tired, and down at the same time because of their fucked-up relationship.

"Let's get divorced" Both of them stated at the same time. Devon sighed while a tear on Bonnie's eyes fell. As they intensely looked at each other's eyes, lingering feelings and mixed emotions filled up the atmosphere around them.

Their fights which started from small things, escalated to big fights and eventually turned into something that will finally broke them apart. Not being able to fix their problems, sleeping and waking up like they didn't argued the day before, all of these resulted to the thing called "divorce". They didn't expect to live life like how they use to be. Maybe, separating would be the only thing that could end all of their misery in life.
