Chapter 1: How the "us" began

Date: (Past) August 12, 2012, The first day of classes in the University.

"This is too tiring to do. I wish I didn't run for secretary back then," a curly-haired brunette said. It was Carylle, Bonnie's friend since freshmen and a fellow student council officer.

"Yeah, If I have known how hectic our schedule would be, I wouldn't even think of joining this council. Hah! why'd I even think of running as a vice-president?," Bonnie replied to her friend while carrying loads of tarpaulins for the school event and welcoming party for the freshmen.

It has been the month of the year again, the official classes has already started at the Eastview University where students aren't just regular students. Those studying at the place were considered to be the cream of the crop. Only the best of the best and those who are naturally intelligent can enter such a university.

For Bonnie's case, she worked extremely hard and went too far studying to get her ass in Eastview. She is aware that she isn't that academically intelligent. Bonnie is indeed street smart though, she managed her way to the top and became a student council officer when she was just a freshmen.

First day of classes is easy for those freshmen students but for Bonnie Lee, a 3rd year college student and the vice-president of the student council, she was tasked to arrange the auditorium for the opening of classes along with the other officers. School orientation and freshmen welcoming party would be a big event so they are putting a lot of effort in making the auditorium look nice.

"We're here at the auditorium. Let's set up the tarpaulins and banners quickly before the first years enter. They are going to come in at around 10 am and it's already 8: 45 am. We only have an hour or more to finish this Bon," Carylle said.

"Yep, sure. By the way, where's Devon? He should be here helping us since he is the president of the council,

"Bonnie replied. Her eyes wondered around the auditorium but see no signs of Devon.

Devon Kim, as someone who looks so perfect that you could think he is a character straightly came of a webtoon story or a novel. He is almost 6 ft. tall, has broad shoulders, and looks really dashing when he smiles. Since he is the president of the council of a prestigious university, of course it would only be natural for women to admire him. They look up to him like he was some sort of god or something.

"Oh hey Bon, you were looking for me?" surprisingly, Devon appeared out of nowhere and approached Bonnie.

Bonnie looked up who the last person to show up in the auditorium. She just glared at him and just continued doing her work. She somehow felt a little disappointed at Devon due to his late appearance considering he should be the one who needs to be always present and punctual.

" What now? Is Bonnie the only one here? She the only one you saw since you entered the auditorium?," Carylle jokingly asked Devon. What? she shipped the both of them ever since. Carylle thought they are a perfect match for each other. Bonnie is pretty good looking and smart just like Devon.

Devon and Bonnie stared at their fellow student. The awkwardness in the air seems to be thickening after Carylle asked the question. Nonetheless, they just continued setting up and organizing the hall.

Devon decided to head towards the stage in the auditorium and check if the system is good to use. Meanwhile Bonnie and Carylle stayed at their place doing what they are doing earlier.

"What a perfect couple indeed," Carylle whispered but with Bonnie beside her, she heard what her friend had whispered.

'We aren't a couple,' Bonnie said inside her mind. She was too shy to open up the topic again so she decided to stay quiet. There isn't anything between Devon and Bonnie. It was just their common friends who paired them up together since they were the leaders of the university so it would be perfect to pair them up. Their friends think, if Devon and Bonnie end up, they would have the perfect family and the perfect life.

Somehow, a picture of Devon and Bonnie dating and holding hands popped inside Bonnie's mind. she shook her head to get the idea out of her head. She was taken a back with what she saw in her mind that she stopped what she was doing for a second.

"What the hell was that?" She admit, Devon was her type and that he was really a boyfriend material still, she doesn't have feelings for the guy and that she isn't ready to enter a relationship.

"What was?"

Bonnie almost jumped with who appeared beside her. It was who she was thinking a while ago.

"What was what? I don't know...it was nothing. Why are you even here?" She can't even gather her thoughts because she was too embarrassed to face Devon.

"I wanted to help you with what you are doing. It seems that you have something on your mind. Here, let me help you set up those banners." Devon offered his help to Bonnie flashing his gorgeous smile.

Devon thought that it would be easier for him to do the task. He didn't payed attention to what Bonnie was thinking though and how rattled she was when he approached her.

A while after, they finished decorating and putting banners in the auditorium. It was right on time. The freshmen started entering the hall little by little.

As soon as the orientation and freshmen welcoming party ended at noon, Bonnie and Carylle started heading to their respected classes after finishing what they were tasked to do when Devon called out to them asking what are their plans for the night.

"The others in the council wanted to throw a little party tonight. They'll bring something to drink and eat later. Are you guys free for the night?," Devon questioned both of the ladies.

Before Bonnie can decide and answer, her friend responded saying "We'll be there tonight. Just give us the address and time."

"7 pm at the Pink Lemon. We'll be waiting for the both of you," Devon replied. He left with his signature handsome smile turning his back to the girls and stride towards the opposite direction.
