Chapter 10: Is this really it?

Date: May 22, 2019. The day we discuss the terms.

A week has passed after that night. The week has been dreadful for the both of them. a lot of things have changed since then. Both of them have decided that it would be good to live in a separate apartment so they'll get used to the independent life once again. Devon transferred into a studio type apartment while Bonnie stayed at their old home.

Their work was the only thing that kept them from thinking about the divorce. No one has knew their separation yet even their friends. They wanted to keep it until they sign the divorce papers.

At present, Bonnie was having her lunch with Carylle and some colleagues. She couldn't help but feel down again whenever she stops working. She kept thinking about the divorce agreement she had with Devon. Even so, as time passes, she started to accept things little by little.

Ding! A text has been sent to Bonnie while she was sitting eating her lunch. She immediately took out her phone and opened the message.

'Let's meet...'

Of course, it was her husband. Bonnie was sure that what they'll talk about will be the divorce papers update. Since both of them have already agreed to process it, they already hired a lawyer for the documents.

'I'll be there in a few minutes' Bonnie replied to the message.

"Hey guys, I have somewhere to go to. I'll be back after lunch," Bonnie waved goodbye to her friends but she didn't tell them where she was headed to.

"Where are you going?" Carylle's curiosity peaked when Bonnie didn't tell them what the rush was all about. She never kept secrets from her friends and Devon, Carylle thought and was sure that something was going on.

"Just needed to fix some papers," Bonnie replied briefly.

Before Carylle even say a word, Bonnie turned her back, waved at Carylle, and rushed towards the exit of the cafeteria where they ate their lunch from.

"HEY BONNIE! WTF WHERE YOU GOIN'?" Carylle shouted due to her annoyance. Why was Bonnie keeping a secret from her? maybe she was seeing someone else? wtf? All these questions kept popping inside Carylle's head.

"Should I tell Devon? Ughhh, maybe not. It was their relationship to begin with. I shouldn't go in between them," Carylle whispered. She could feel that there was something fishy going on but she decided to set it aside.

When Bonnie was out of the building, she took a cab to go to the place where Devon's at. They decided to meet at a coffee shop where there aren't many people and far from their workplace so there won't be anyone who knows them.

It took Bonnie 15 minutes to go to the coffee shop. She spotted Devon sitting at the corner of the shop.

"Hey Von, what's with the rush?" Bonnie asked her soon to be ex-husband. Though, the name she called him was still the same.

"It's about the papers. The lawyer said we should meet him to discuss our agreement further," Devon said with a poker face but still directly looking at Bonnie's eyes. It was still glimmering just like before, he thought but he quickly get rid of the idea.

"What about it?" Bonnie was curious about what they should talk about with the lawyer. She was nervous.

"I don't know too, Bon. Let's just wait for him. He said he was on his was here," Devon replied.

Bonnie nodded in reply. Although, she felt her heart throbbing with the sight of Devon. She missed all of him. She still liked how her nickname roll on the tongue of Devon. His voice was beautiful as ever.

There was an awkward air circling around Bonnie and Devon. After what feels like an eternity, the lawyer arrived. The lawyer they hired was a slim tall man who was around the age of his late 30s. He seemed to be a bit of a comedic character you see in movies but at the same time his aura screams professionalism.

"Good Afternoon Mr. Jung! It was nice to see meet you. I am Devon Kim and this is Bonnie, my..." Devon approached the lawyer and introduced himself and Bonnie but he stopped when he doesn't know what to address Bonnie. The term 'ex-wife' doesn't sit right with him for now.

"Hi Mr. Jung! I'm his soon to be ex-wife," Bonnie noticed how Devon had a hard time introducing her so she decided to but in.

"Yes, let's get started for today. This'll be short since I'll just tell you what papers you need to process your divorce," Mr. Jung started explaining the things Devon and Bonnie needed to know.

Everything was discussed and explained in detailed by Mr. Jung. Devon was still curious about one thing though. But it wasn't about the papers, the thing he was curious about was the life Bonnie will choose when they get officially separated.

'Is she going to marry someone else? Does she plan to marry again?' Devon wanted to ask his wife but he can't bring himself into. Most importantly, his pride was way over the top to ask for these kind of questions. He thought to himself that he needed to let Bonnie go and he should not care about her choices anymore.

"That's it for today. Hopefully, we can get the papers ready by tomorrow or the day after so you both can sign them already. We should pass them in the court as soon as you sign them," Mr. Jung ended their meeting by shaking hands with the couple. The lawyer left the coffee shop without any second glance.

"Well then, I'll get back to the firm. Contact me when we shall meet again," Bonnie bid goodbye to Devon and turned to head towards the exit when unexpectedly he grabbed her arm.

"Bon, wait!" Devon was shocked from his actions. He suddenly grabbed Bonnie by her arm without even knowing why. Perhaps he doesn't want her to go?

Meanwhile, Bonnie was surprised from her husband's sudden move. She found Devon's eyes and figured that it has a hint of sadness and bewilderedness.

"Do you have something to say? or did you forgot something?" Bonnie asked.

"No. It's just...Have a safe trip!" He replied. Devon was embarrassed to hell but he maintained his composure and he had a façade of coldness.

Bonnie couldn't found the situation odd and nostalgic at the same time. It was like when they separate every morning when they still live at the same house. All she did was nod at Devon and leave the café since Bonnie doesn't want to have her hopes high.

"Damn. Why the hell did I even do that?" Devon said to himself when Bonnie was already out of sight. He figured that he should head back in his office as well to forget the embarrassing thing that happened earlier.

When they both got back in their work place, their focus shifted again from their relationship to work related stuff. Basically, that's how their day usually goes.
