Chapter 13: A Battle of Two

Devon was so drunk at the moment that he could not even stand straight. His eyes felt so heavy as well as his body. Devon slumped on the sofa he and Erin were seating on for the night. His eyes started to get heavier and heavier as time goes by.

"Devon, we should go now. You seem so wasted," Erin stated while sitting beside Devon to assist him.

"Noooo! I should be enjoying the night since this marks me being single again!" Devon said with his slurry voice.

"Ok then, I'll give you this one time," Erin replied.

Devon drank alcohol until he passed out. Erin, on the other hand, had no choice but to take him home

"Why do you have to be like this?," Erin asked Devon, whispering while he was unconscious due to the alcohol. Devon just groaned as Erin tries to put his hands on her shoulders.

Erin carried Devon all the way to the car realizing that she didn't even know where he stayed or lived.

"Devon, do you mind telling me where you place is?," She asked hoping for him to reply.

"Ughhh...Just leave me be," Devon responded to her.

Erin could not bear him to see like that just because of a woman. 'How good would it be if only she was the one he liked?' the thought crossed her mind.

"Just give me your phone then," Erin started searching for Devon's phone as because she has a plan of her own.

"Got it!," Erin grinned as she had Devon's phone in her hand already. She was lucky enough to find his phone without a password. As she opened the home screen, a picture of a couple popped through the screen. It was a selfie of Bonnie and Devon holding out a peace sign together.

Erin rolled her eyes on the screen and started looking for Bonnie's number. As soon as she saw it, she ringed her and it answered within a minute or so.

"Hello? Do you need anything?," The woman from the other line started talking. It was Bonnie, who thought the one calling was his husband.

"Hi, is this Bonnie Kim?," Erin said in a monotone voice.

"Yes? Who are you?," Bonnie's eyes widened as she did not expect the caller to be a woman as well. Her eyebrows narrowed in disbelief. It was late for another woman to be with her husband. The time was already 11:30 pm and yet Devon was with another woman? They aren't even legally separated yet, she thought.

"My name is Erin Soo, I am Devon's colleague at the office," Erin replied with a sweet voice but deep inside her, she was annoyed with whom she's at the phone with. She doesn't know why she was extremely irritated with Bonnie even if she haven't met her yet. It was like completely random.

"Ah I get it. So, what can I do for you?," Bonnie replied with a soft voice but her face shows another emotion. The name was familiar and it was the name she needs to be aware of.

"I am currently with Devon right now. He passed out because he drank so much in the lounge. I was planning to bring him home however I don't know where he lives. May I ask for his address or where could I bring him?,"

"Where are you right now? I can pick him up from the location," Bonnie stated sighing.

"No need, I can just bring him at the address," Erin argued. She would not want Bonnie, the ex-wife to get her chance with someone she admires.

"Fine, then send him at the address I'm going to message you," Bonnie responded in defeat. But of course, she would give her address, not the one Devon's currently staying in.

"Ok, that would be good," Erin replied.

The call ended with Bonnie rolling her eyes at the screen of her phone and grunting . She texted the address to Erin. She was already preparing to get to bed but as soon as she got the call, her mind couldn't be at ease anymore.

"Ughh! I can't believe this. Carylle was absolutely right!," Bonnie blurted out while rolling on the bed and punching the pillows by herself. She was completely bothered by Devon and Erin.

"Maybe, He found another one already with just a short time? But...OMG! I REALLY DON'T KNOW ANYMORE!,"

Ring!

A while later, Bonnie's phone started to ring again. The caller ID shows Devon's contact number so she answered it.

"Hello?," Bonnie said waiting for the person on the other line to talk.

"Bonnie, I figured just now that you haven't actually told me what apartment number he lives so I don't know where to bring him," Erin stated slumping Devon's muscular arms.

"Yeah, stay where you are I'll be heading out now. I'll be the one to bring him," Bonnie smirked on the phone while talking. There's no way I'm telling a stranger Devon's address and besides she doesn't know were getting divorced so it's better for him to stay here, she thought.

Bonnie had no idea that Erin knew the divorce and suffering they were going through since Devon already told her everything.

"What do you mean you'll be heading out?," Erin asked in confusion.

"Why? is it wrong for a wife to assist her husband when he's drunk?," Bonnie answered provocatively and raising an eyebrow at the same time even if they were just talking on the phone.

"What did you s--," Erin was cut off as Bonnie dropped the call immediately, not wanting to hear her stupid retaliation.

Erin had no choice but to stay at the parking since she didn't know where to go. After a while of waiting at the parking lot, Bonnie showed up in her night clothing dashing towards the car she was familiar with.

"You're here," Erin told Bonnie.

"Yes, where is my 'HUSBAND'?," Bonnie retorted with her smug face, raising an eyebrow to the girl who was with Devon.

"He's inside the car. He passed out because he was so drunk ranting about someone...," Erin rolled her eyes. However, she didn't want to back down. Not when she already had a chance to shoot her shot with Devon.

The moment Bonnie opened the door of the passenger seat, she saw Devon sleeping soundly. She internalized how he looked so peacefully while sleeping. It has been a while since he saw him like that.

"You know what, for an ex-wife, you still seem very much interested with her husband who she's going to leave in the near future," Erin uttered, crossing her arms on top of each other.

"What did you say?," Bonnie, who wasn't expecting Erin to know the divorce, was unsettled. She frowned focusing on the girl.

"I don't like to repeat myself. You heard me. Devon wanted to start a new beginning and also he wanted to boost his career since mentioned how it went downhill because of your marriage," Erin retorted.

"Hey! look here, you have absolutely no rights to tell that to me and to butt in my relationship with 'MY HUSBAND'. Did you get that?," Bonnie argued. she won't let anyone step on her dignity like what Erin did.

"I'm just telling. You should just move on besides, it's for the better too," Erin put both her hands up and smirked at Bonnie. She wasn't an actual bitch but if she want something, she would do anything to get it.

Bonnie just shook her head at Erin's reply and shrugged it off as she bring Devon inside their apartment. Erin could only look behind the couple as she they left the parking lot.
