Chapter 14: To Accept and Move Forth

Bonnie helplessly carried Devon all the way to their old apartment. As soon as they got in, Bonnie let go of Devon's unconscious body onto the bed. She sit on the corner of the bed to look and take in her husband's look for the last time because who know what will happen in the future?

"I guess our relationship made you like this, no?," Bonnie said even though she knows her husband won't remember it.

With Devon starting to accept and move forward, Bonnie realized now that she should go forth with her life as well. She shouldn't be latching onto Devon, who apparently have someone like Erin already.

"Ha! Should I have known that you already found new bitch to comfort you, I would have easily accepted everything from the start. Good luck and I wish for you to be happy, Von," Bonnie stated as tears started to form in her eyes as she calls him the nickname they made for each other. She hated Erin too much that she spitted the word "bitch" bitterly.

Still, Devon was lying on their bed senseless on what is happening while Bonnie stood up from the bed and walk towards the bathroom to get fresh towels and a new pair of clothes Devon left in the apartment. She started cleaning Devon by undoing the buttons in his clothes and wiping him with a wet towel.

"Hey, can you even help me my god I can't do this myself. You're too heavy," Bonnie attempted to pull Devon up but to no avail, he flunked on the bed again.

It took Bonnie a while to dress him up with comfortable clothes but she did it. Her energy was drained and it was already past midnight so she did lie down on the bed beside Devon.

The two slept together on the same bed for the night. When morning came, Bonnie started to feel a heavy thing on top of her waist. She peeked on what the thing is and figured that it was just Devon's hands. How she missed the feeling of it but she was aware that she couldn't fall for it again.

Bonnie moved Devon's hands away from her waist carefully not to wake him up. She decided to went outside to buy some hangover medicine from the store and buy some breakfast. After exactly half an hour, she went back to her apartment only to see Devon still asleep.

"Wow, he must be really drunk last night for him to sleep so deep," Bonnie whispered, taking out the medicine and preparing some food for breakfast.

It's a Saturday anyway so both Devon and Bonnie don't have to go to work. Bonnie didn't bother to wake Devon up since he must be having a good sleep. She started eating her breakfast already not waiting for the guy who was heavily sleeping since she was hungry.

Ring! Ring!

"Oh?,"

Bonnie was surprised to hear Devon's phone rang. Whereas Devon, suddenly jolted up from the loud noise of his phone ringing. His head throbbing from the pain he was feeling.

Devon find where the sound was coming from and picked it up. His mind was still processing the situation he was in while listening to the person on the phone at the same time. Turns out the person he was in a call with was their divorce lawyer.

"Yes, we'll be right there. Just give us some time to prepare," Devon responded to the lawyer while Bonnie was standing and leaning on the door frame of their bedroom.

"Mind to tell who just called?," Bonnie asked softly with her arms crossed.

"It was the divorce lawyer. He told me that the papers we're ready and that all we need to do is sign it," He replied combing his fingers through his hair flexing his muscular arms.

Bonnie doesn't know how to react so she just nodded at him. There was a second of awkwardness and gloominess in the air but it went away as Bonnie spoke up.

"Oh ok then. For now, you should drink some medicine for your hangover and eat breakfast," Bonnie said handing him the medicine.

"Thanks. Hey, uhm...," Devon started to speak up once again. Bonnie looked at him and waited for him to complete what he was saying although she knew what it is about.

"What...uhm...last night...what happened?," Devon uttered biting his lip and scratching the back of his head. His eyes can't seem to focus on one point because of his sudden diffidence.

"Erin called me last night using your phone and asked me where you live but I couldn't trust a stranger so I just sent her my address. Nothing else happened don't worry," Bonnie assured Devon, smiling sweetly yet forced at the same time. She couldn't bring her guts to tell Devon the conversation she had with Erin.

"Really? That's just what happened? Are you telling me the truth?," Devon frowned but somehow believed Bonnie however, he couldn't deny his guilt on how he went out with another woman last night.

"Yep! Anyway, I'm glad to know you've got good company," Bonnie shaded her sarcasm with a smile.

Devon was too shallow to notice it but he wasn't comfortable with talking about another woman with Bonnie. However, he understood that both of them shouldn't be concerned with each other's personal life anymore so he took Bonnie's sarcasm as a form of moving on, not caring of who he hangs out with.

The morning went quiet as they prepare themselves to meet the divorce lawyer and finish the connection they once had.
