LATER THAT DAY

Jayson's heart felt heavy, maybe the guilt he was carrying was the cause of all. Nothing could get any better until he sees Hattiea, he acknowledged.

It has been a couple of hours of her leaving his office now yet, she did not show up the entire day. Jayson waited all the while just to talk the matter with her for once.

He wanted to meet her in order to make sure that she was fine, even though he knew too well that she was not.

His eyes were still a bit red while being focused on the busy streets ahead, he licked his dry lips again and again because of the nervousness building inside of him while driving to Hattiea's house.

After whatever have happened earlier, Jayson just could not face her with enough dare but he knew, he had to... at some point of time.

He should at least apologise for what he had done.

That is the least thing he could do, right?

Hattiea obviously does not deserve a betrayal like that from him. Being cheated on was the worst nightmare for a woman like her as she had done so much for him...

Even sacrificed her choices for him, just for him to taste the flavour of success later.

But right there he chose to just cheat on her like she never even meant anything to him.

That was the most cruel thing he had done to her, he did not even repay the loyalty she always provided him in their relationship.

Jordan's nervous eyes soon stopped at one particular house as he pulled his brakes over on the side of the street almost in a abrupt and rush manner showing his impatience to meet Hattiea.

Getting out of the car he jogged towards the house with his guilty and saddened heart.

He knocked on her door impatiently while tapped his foot desperately on the wooden floor in utter nervousness.

"Hattiea..."
Jayson called out with his restless voice ringing the doorbell twice then thrice getting no response in return.

He hoped for her to open the door for him as he continued the act with no rest but soon it did open making him strengthen up immediately with clear hope in his eyes.

But as soon as he met the eyes of the person in front of him, he gulped a harsh lump down his throat...

It was not Hattiea who opened the door for him but his mother.

In her late 40s maybe, the confused woman wore an immediate concerned look over her features while looking at him, Jayson was not looking so great with his messy hair and pathetic state.

She saw his red wet and fluffy eyes giving her the clue that he must have cried a lot. But why?

"M-Mama..."
Jayson spelled out with his broken voice as his eyes watered up more while looking at the elder woman in front of him.

All the negative emotions started attacking him the same minute.

The parent's eyes softened the same moment too as she reached for Jayson with pure concern while doing a quick hand moment for him to question him, what was the matter with him suddenly.

She was not gifted with the power of speech making her unable to talk.

Jayson broke down as his tears made its way down his cheeks immediately while eyeing the mute woman doing signs looking at him.

Her eyes widened a bit as she patted his back being worried for him, she was dumbstruck.

Maybe not expecting him to be like that, something was really not right about him and the elder woman was quick enough to figure that out.

"I messed up, mama!"
Jayson spelled out while hugging her tightly to find sort of comfort in her embrace, the next second.

The guilt was eating him at this point.

"I messed everything up..."
Jayson sobbed louder in sorrow as the elder woman did not even raise any complains about it while providing her shoulder to him to cry upon.

Patting his back to calm him down time to time. She was indeed confused with everything happening with Jayson.

She never saw him crying like that before. Hence she decided to not question him at the current moment while judging his state instead letting him relax first.

The confused parent just decided to save her questions for later.

"Is Hattiea home? Can I please talk to her?"
Jayson soon calmed down after a minute or two, as the first thing questioned was about his fiancé.

With his tearful eyes he looked at the elder woman with clear hint of hope in his eyes but she only frowned at his choice of words.

Shaking her head at his question, she again did some hand movements for him wearing a concerned look again.

Questioning him about the matter finally, she was confused since the start.

Wasn't her daughter suppose to be with him at the work place right now? Hattiea did not return home yet and Jayson was here to find her?

And that too in this state? All the scenarios just made the elder woman believe that something was definitely wrong with both of them.

Or worst... between both of them?

The woman was now more worried as now the question was about her daughter. Her frown deepened as all of her concern was directed towards her daughter immediately.

Where was she?

Jayson's ashamed pair of eyes immediately turned sterner as he looked at the elder woman, he was shocked after getting what her hand movements meant.

Hattiea was not at home. Then where did she went? She did not even return to office the entire day...

Jayson gulped as literal tension started building up inside of him, he was obviously expecting her to come home if not she was in the office.

As she got nowhere else to go other home after office.

She was never the type to have sudden meetings with her friends as well, cause most of the time she stays busy at her work to mind off anything.

Rarely she makes up to any dates with Jayson too.

Hence the most expected place where Jayson thought she would be, was at her home...

But not even finding her here caused Jayson to believe something was not right about the entire thing.

Where was she? If not here then where else could she possibly go?

Jayson blamed himself to let her go alone earlier. He cursed himself again and again to cause such a pain to the one he always claimed to be in love with.

How can the one in love hurt the other other to this extend?

Jayson was still in his thoughts that he did not notice what the disturbed mother of his fiancé was signing all the while.

Soon he flinched feeling a light push from her, he saw the parent questioning him about her daughter now with a curious and dead worried look.

Poor her.

Except her daughter, she got no one else to live for.

Jayson looked away from her immediately being ashamed as he himself was not so sure what to even answer her.

Even he did not know where her daughter went. Hattiea just ran away from him and never returned back the entire day.

He messed everything up, he was the cause of all that happened and now that Hattiea has gone missing...

What more worse could have happened this day?

He could not help but to worry about her sudden disappearance too.
He was at deep fault and words seemed to get blocked by his hard lump on the throat.

How could he even build up the courage in front of the elder woman to tell her what happened between him and her daughter?

She was like a parent to him as well like she was to Hattiea and Jayson was about to marry her daughter. How on the earth he is going to face her after telling her about his previous deeds?

How would she react knowing he made another woman pregnant?

With all that in his mind, he started sobbing in sadness. He felt the pain deep down his heart.

"W-we just had a little argument... Can you please text me when she comes back? I will go check on her at her friends' place!"
He lied about the matter sounding low.

He just wanted to escape the situation and go find Hattiea as her disappearance was not helping his guts to calm down a bit.

The parent only worried more after his statement. His swollen eyes eventually made the mother nod to his request in an understanding way.

Though the mute mother was dead concerned about her dear daughter, she still understood Jayson's dilemma as well.

She decided not to question him anymore as she saw how distressed he looked, he loved Hattiea with all of his heart, the parent believed.

Hence, she always trusted him with her daughter.

But oh well, how wrong she was!

BACK TO LAWRENCE'S HOSPITAL

Sebastian was still in the hospital waiting for the doctor to come out and tell him about the woman whom Jordan possibly harmed.

It has been a couple of hours and he successfully managed to send Jordan back home to rest after giving him enough assurance about everything.

Jordan was a stubborn man indeed but Sebastian over the years learnt to deal with his personality issues, he managed to cope up with him.

The woman was still an unknown character for Sebastian to figure out.

He needed to find out who she was yet as she was still kept under the strict observation of the doctors.

Surely he was there to negotiate with her for his friend's mistake once she wakes up but in a legally settled way, being a professional lawyer Sebastian knew very well how to handle such situations.

He could let Jordan's name being dragged to the court easily, he was a huge personality to mess up.

They cannot deal with the matter at the moment.

Sebastian's right eyebrow arched a bit as he looked at his wrist watch for a second and sighed tiredly as another hour just passed and there was still no possible recovery reported of the woman.

Sooner the door of her ward opened gaining his attention immediately and a nurse approached his way.

"She is fine, there were no injuries in her body. Seems like she passed out from low blood pressure so we had to get her a bottle of glucose IV, rest is fine she can leave once she wakes up."
Sebastian's frown released immediately as he heard the nurse's words.

So the woman just fainted due to low blood pressure?

That means Jordan really did not hit her, she just passed out in front his vehicle making him believe that he hit her?

Sebastian nodded his head to the nurse who seemed to be blushing looking at him.

Sebastian scoffed while looking at the red tint spreading across her cheeks as she bowed to him before walking away shyly.

He was quite a charmer around women because of his handsome and tight personality.

But he never cared.

Sebastian's eyes became serious soon again as he started walking towards the ward's door where the woman was kept in observation.

He eyed the woman lying unconsciously in the bed with needles connected to her wrist.

He roughly started judging the unknown woman. She looked so young.

Maybe in her early 20s.

'Why would even she jump in front of a running car so suddenly? What was she even thinking?'
His legal tangles tried to figure out about what was wrong with her in actual senses.

As just them he felt another presence inside the ward making him surprised...
