Chapter 13

After the phone call with his sister, Declan tried his best to stay away from the waitress. He ignored her when she spoke and rather walked away. For the next couple of days, he stayed at work late and ate his dinner in the study. To be honest, he was afraid of love and preferred to end how he felt about Sienna before he fell for her. His whole life, he had been full of hatred and conditioned himself to believe he wanted to be alone and throw himself into the company.

Work was the only thing he loved, and it was going to stay that way. With a baby on the way, the billionaire felt his anxiety growing. He went out of his way to keep his sister safe; now he will have a child of his own… which scared him. He already thought of millions of ways to keep the baby safe and even wondered if Sienna would be a good mother. Could he let her raise his baby? He looked out the window of his office and felt paranoid. What if his enemies were watching him and waiting to strike? What if they were waiting for the baby to be born, so it could be their target?

He poured himself more whiskey and downed it. He had been drinking a lot tonight and reeked of cigarettes. He grabbed a bottle of vodka as his whiskey was finished and stumbled out of his office.

“Mr Foster?” Kian asked and looked up as the billionaire walked past.

“I’m going home, Kian,” Declan muttered and bumped into the wall. He fumbled for the elevator button and waved bye to his assistant as the doors closed. He walked over to the car where Zem waited for him and climbed in.

“Rough day, sir?” Zem asked as he started the engine.

“Hmmm, yes. Take me home, Zem. I want to see my fiance.” He answered and fell back into silence as they drove home. He found Sienna playing cards in the dining room with Aaron and held onto a chair to support himself.

“Declan, are you drunk?” Sienna asked and stared at the billionaire. He smelled awful and held a bottle of vodka in his hand.

“Hmmm, Aaron, leave us. I need to talk to my fiance alone.” He replied, and the private investigator willingly left the room. “Sienna, you will be the mother of my child. But, this is my house. So, we will raise my baby as I please, and you will start listening to me.” He added and walked over to her.

“I think we should have this conversation in the morning.”

“No, now. I’m scared that you aren’t fit to raise my baby. You’re just a poor waitress in any case. What do you know anyways? I won’t have my child land up like you did.

“That’s uncalled for,” Sienna replied and felt hurt by his words. “If you think I’m not capable, then why am I here?” She furiously asked and stood up.

“I only… agreed to his contract because you fell pregnant. I would never have seen you again if not for my baby inside of you.” He spat and pointed his finger at her stomach.

“I don’t even want to see you! Don’t you get it? I don’t like you. I can’t stand the sight of you!”

“Don’t you dare yell at me, woman!”

“Or what, Declan? What the fuck are you going to do? Lock me in my room again? I thought we could be friends for a second, but no, you ignored me for days. You are not fit to be a father! You’re a cold bastard, and our child will hate you.” Sienna hissed and couldn’t control her anger.

Declan slammed the bottle onto the table and pushed Sienna up against it, which caused her to slap him. He glared at her and gripped onto the table. His hands were on either side of her, and he was breathing heavily.

“Take that back. Now!” He thundered, but Sienna didn’t back down.

“Don’t you like hearing the truth?” She smirked and held back tears. Now was not the time to cry; she wanted to show she could be as cruel as the billionaire and keep up the cold act. “No wonder you’re parents died. They couldn’t stand to live with you as their son.” She pressed on. She instantly regretted saying that and didn’t mean it, but the words seemed to hurt Declan.

“You don’t know anything about me.” He mumbled and stepped away from Sienna.

“Oh, I don’t? I live with you, and I know exactly who you are. A scared little boy that hides behind a selfish act and his money.” Sienna added and stepped closer to him with her head held high.

“I own you, Sienna. Like everything and everyone else in my life. The bed you sleep in is mine, the clothes on your back, the baby in your stomach… you are mine. Maybe I am scared, but at least I have something to show for my life. You waisted yours. What do you own? Nothing. You are nothing.” Declan firmly stated and watched the waitress’s lip slightly quiver.

Sienna looked away from the billionaire and grabbed the bottle of vodka before storming off. She was fuming and wasn’t thinking straight. She grabbed a box of matches out of the draw in the passageway and stormed into Declan’s bedroom. Sienna hated that he was right. She didn’t own anything in his house and felt like she signed her soul over to the devil himself. Sienna poured the vodka all over his bed and smashed the bottle on the ground next to her.

She lit a match and stared at the flame. She would burn everything he owned and leave him with nothing. Sienna dropped the match and watched the bed set on fire. A smile spread across her lips as she stared into the flames and was amazed at how eagerly the fire ate away at his blankets. She imagined falling onto the bed as the flames around her grew and felt like the fire burned in her soul.

“Sienna, what are you doing?!” Aaron yelled and grabbed her by her waist. He pulled her away from the bed and yelled for Mrs Grace to call the fire department. Smoke filled the house as the fire spread onto the curtains and across the mat in the room. Aaron dragged Sienna out of the room as tears ran down her face. The staff of the house ran past them with buckets of water to try to prevent the fire from spreading.

“Come with me, Miss.” Mrs Grace stated and held onto Sienna. Aaron ran off to help put out the fire, and Declan was nowhere to be seen.

“I’m so sorry. I wasn’t thinking. I put all of us in danger.” Sienna sobbed as they walked outside. The fire department arrived, and firefighters stormed into the house to get everyone out. A window shattered as the fire grew, and the crowd that gathered outside gasped. The firefighters led everyone out, and Aaron came out coughing as he inhaled some smoke.

“Have you seen Declan?” Sienna asked and ran up to Aaron. He shook his head, and they scanned around while asking the staff if anyone knew where Declan was. No one had seen the billionaire since the fight.

“Please, my fiance. I don’t know where he is.” Sienna said to a firefighter.

“Miss, was he in the house when the fire started?” The firefighter asked.

“Yes, we had a fight, and he’s drunk. Please, I can’t lose him. I can’t raise our baby alone.” Sienna sobbed, and she realised she cared about the billionaire. Through all the hate, she still held him in her heart.

“The house is clear.” Another firefighter shouted and ran out of the burning mansion.

“Sorry, Miss, but he’s not in there.” The firefighter stated and told her to stay back. She stared in the fire she started and searched desperately for Declan through the flames. Something told her he was still in there, and she ducked past the firefighters as they tried to stop her and ran into the mansion.

“D… E… C… L… A… N!” Sienna screamed and tried to shield her face from the heat and covered her mouth with the thin jacket she had on. Sienna pushed in and stayed low as she searched her Declan. A piece of the floor was missing as it had collapsed in. She looked around her at all the flames and grew higher. Sienna used her strength to jump over the hole in the floor and pushed on towards his study.

She coughed and crawled on her knees into the room where she spotted Declan on the floor, hidden behind his desk.

“Declan, I’m so sorry.” She sobbed and put her head on his chest. He was still alive but unconscious. The window shattered in the study, which made the flames burn more fiercely. “Please, wake up. I need you.” She begged and tried to shake him awake.

“Miss Chae-Soo!” She heard Aaron shout.

“In the study!” She yelled back, and he appeared by the doorway. Aaron had followed her in and scurried over to Declan. He helped Sienna pick up the billionaire, and together they helped carry him out. They had to go out a different way as they came in and left through the sliding door to the pool.

The firefighters ran over to help as soon as they saw them and took the billionaire. Aaron held onto Sienna as she coughed and quickly got her far away from the building. They were both covered in black soot and ash. Aaron had burns on his arms but rather made sure Sienna was good before letting anyone see to him.

“Thank you, Aaron,” Sienna remarked as someone put an oxygen mask over her mouth.

“Next time, don’t run into a burning building.” Aaron laughed and was led to an ambulance to cover his burns.

The firefights got the fire under control before it spread to another house, but everything inside the mason was severely damaged and burned. Nothing could be saved, and Declan was rushed to hospital. Luckily no one was lethally injured.

Declan woke up in a hospital bed a day later, and Aaron was right next to him. He explained everything that happened.

“Where is Sienna?” Was the first thing Declan asked and tried to leave the hospital bed. He sounded worried and didn’t even care that his house burnt down.

“I’ll go fetch her, Mr Foster. Stay here.” Aaron stated and hurried off to the waiting room, where Sienna was asleep on the chair. He woke her up and said, “Declan wants to see you.”

Sienna followed Aaron to the billionaire’s hospital room and walked in. Declan stared at her and looked pretty decent for someone who was passed out in a burning building.

“Why did you run in to save me?” Declan asked as she sat down on the chair next to his hospital bed.

“I needed you to stay with me.” Sienna softly answered. “I’m sorry I burnt down your house and wasted your money.” She sighed and looked away, ashamed.

“I don’t care about the house. We can buy a new one. I care that you risked your life to save me.” He replied. “It was stupid and reckless. What if we both died? Our child would have died as well. So, thank you for saving me, Sienna, but I need you to promise me that you will always save yourself and keep our baby safe.” Declan stated firmly.

Sienna looked up, and her eyes were glazed with tears. She nodded, and Declan held out his hand for her to take.

“You and the baby are all I care about. Promise me that you will make yourself the first priority.”

“I promise,” Sienna whispered and held the billionaire’s hand. Everything was forgiven, and they stared at each other while holding hands.
