Chapter Nineteen — Abrupt Encounter II

Galaxia's POV

“Could tonight get anymore aggravating?”. I muttered angrily. Anna nudged my side, making me turn to her.

“Is something wrong?”. She asked.

“Yeah, you've been fuming in anger and glaring at that direction”. Sophia said, nodding her head towards the entrance where the guy that hit my car came through.

I continued glaring at him and he turned his face towards my direction. He met my glare with a blank look and just turned away again, upsetting me even more just by seeing his face. We continued doing that for a while until,

“Hey”. Anna nudged me again and I turned to her sharply with the same angry glare.

“What?!” I suddenly snapped at her.

“Calm down, Laxy”. Sophia interjected.

“Yeah, we just want to know what the problem is”. Anna said softly and I noticed the worried looks on their faces.

My glare instantly vanished and I felt bad for snapping at them unnecessarily. It wasn't their fault, they had nothing to do with it anyway.

I pulled them into a hug and they immediately returned the hug and started muttering apologies.

“Laxy, I'm so sorry I forgot about your phobia. You're clearly reacting to the crowded space. I'm so stupid and a very bad friend, no not bad, horrible, yeah horrible friend. I don't expect you to forgive me, you know. I just really want to say I'm very sorry, Laxy. Please forg--”.

Anna started ranting nervously but I cut her off, feeling more guilty for snapping at her in the first place. Now she thought I was angry at her.

“Anna, stop that,” I said and pulled back, keeping her at arm's length.

“It's not your fault, ok? And I already told you that if I, in any way feel uncomfortable, I'd let you know, hmm? Now stop blaming yourself before I actually get angry at you.” I said to her before turning to face Sophia with a frown.

“And not only Anna, including you, Soph. I'm fine seriously.” They both released sighs of relief and hugged me again tightly before pulling away.

“Ok, if you say so. But if you feel the slightest bit of discomfort, promise you'll tell us, ok?

Anna said while holding my face with both her hands and looking me  straight in the eyes.

I rolled my eyes and loosened her hands from my face.

“I'm fine, Anna. I don't need a babysitter, I can take care of myself. There's nothing to worry about”. I said, trying to dismiss the subject but clearly Anna wasn't having any of that.

She grabbed my face again and pulled me closer to her face. She shook her head in disagreement and said,

“No, I won't take that for an answer. You NEED to promise me, Galaxia, promise us”.

Wow, she used my full name. Anna only did that whenever she was serious about something, actually everyone- my family and friends did that whenever they were serious about something.

From my peripheral vision, I could see Sophia nodding her head in agreement with Anna. I sighed and replied,

“Ok, I promise you both.

“That?” Anna asked as if talking to a kindergartner. I sighed in frustration and replied,

“That if I feel the slightest bit of discomfort whatsoever, I'd let you guys know.” Anna smiled and nodded her head.

“Good girl”. I glared at her and groaned before saying “I've promised you, haven't I? Now let go of me, people would think you're a lesbian, Anna. The last thing I want is for people to tag me as a lesbian and start prying into my life.

Her eyes widened and she immediately pushed my face away, as though I had burned her. She gulped down her drink and tried to hide her face.

Sophia and I tried to stifle our laughter as Anna's face turned red from embarrassment. She sent a glare our way and we immediately bit our lips, attempting to hide our laughter.

Sophia was about to say something but was interrupted by a voice shouting,

“You wanna have a foursome?!

We automatically jerked our heads toward the voice and I saw it was some idiot, probably drunk, that came together with the fool that hit my car.

I knew you guys are probably thinking ‘Girl, you don't even know him, yet you call him a drunk idiot’. Well I didn't care, as long as he came together with that fool, he was meaningless to me just like everyone else, except my family and friends that is.

Anna and Sophia burst into laughter at the drunk idiot's sudden outburst. They were clutching their stomachs while I just stared at the two men in disgust.

The fool hid his face in embarrassment and hit the drunk idiot's head. Disgusting, he wanted a foursome. Thank goodness he didn't touch me with those filthy hands of his. Only God knew where those hands had touched.

He turned his face towards me again and I matched his gaze with the same glare I had been giving him since he entered. He again looked away and Anna nudged me again.

“You're glaring again”. She stated.

“Yeah, what is it with you tonight? You say it's not your phobia, then what is it?” Sophia asked.

I sighed and leaned back on the couch, preparing to tell them about the fool when again we heard another loud voice shout, “Everyone!

We turned our heads toward the voice and saw it was the drunk idiot again. He started rambling and slurring out rubbish. Ugh, I knew I hated people in general but men that couldn't handle alcohol were just overly disgusting.

Anna and Sophia started laughing again and I heard Anna mutter something along the line of “He's cute.

I looked at her and raised an eyebrow. She looked at me and asked,

“What?

“He's cute?” I teased her with a knowing smirk and she, for the second time tonight, turned red with embarrassment at being caught saying that.

“Hey you guys, don't keep me in the dark here. What's going on?” Sophia asked.

I turned to her with a smirk, “You know the guy that blurted out something about a foursome earlier?

She furrowed her eyebrows and said,

“Uhm...yeah he's the one that made that hilarious announcement now. So, what about him?

“Well Anna says he's c—” I started to say but I was stopped by Anna placing her hand over my mouth. I pulled her hand off immediately while saying,

“Get your hand off my mouth, Anna”. She glared at me, smiled sheepishly at Sophia and gulped down her drink.

“Hey, I asked a question, Anna. Why wouldn't you let Laxy answer me? Come on, tell me what's going on.” Sophia whined.

“Exactly Anna, what's going on? Why wouldn't you let me answer Soph?”. I continued to tease her. She narrowed her eyes at me for a while before smiling mischievously.

“I know your plan, Laxy. You can trick Soph but you can't trick me. I'm not dumb enough to fall for your trick. You're trying to escape our question, aren't you? Well, there's no way you can weave your way through this one. Now spit it out!”. She said with a victory smirk.

It was now my turn to glare at her and she stuck her tongue out at me. She was clearly the one that was trying to trick us but she knew she couldn't get past me, Sophia yeah, but me, no way.

“That's true, Laxy. You didn't answer our question earlier, don't try to avoid the question”. Sophia said.

Sophia could really be clueless sometimes. She had no idea it was Anna that was trying to trick us. She just goes with the flow.

“Ugh, fine. You know the guy I told you about, the one that hit my car?

“Yeah, the supposed ‘son of a cherry’. What about him?” Anna said amusedly. I rolled my eyes and continued,

“Whatever, well he's here”. I stated bluntly.

“What? Really? Where?”. They asked. I jerked my head towards the drunk idiot and the fool.

“Which one?” Anna asked, raising her eyebrow. I turned to face her with a teasing smirk.

“Don't worry it's not your ‘cute’ guy. It's the one with him.” She glared at me and both of them looked at the two men, not so subtly, might I add.

“Wow, he's quite handsome. Right, Soph?

“Yeah. Do you think he'll come here?

“He'd better not dare to. I already warned him never to cross my path. It's already infuriating just seeing him, it'd be worse if he attempts to come closer.” I gritted out through my teeth, my fists automatically clenched at my sides.

“Woah, calm down, Laxy. Don't worry he won't come here, I hope”. Anna said, trying to soothe me.

“But what if he wants to apologise or something? Don't you think you should give him a chance to?”. Sophia continued, clearly not noticing my grave mood or just not caring at all.

My anger kept aggrandizing and Anna told Sophia to keep quiet.

“But why? Oh, I see... Sorry Laxy. You don't have to worry, he won't come here. Just calm down, ok?”. Sophia finally realised my mood and tried to soothe me.

“How about you keep yourself busy? You know, something that will take your mind off the anger, hmm? Why don't you scroll through mine and Sophia's Instagram account”. Anna suggested.

I turned to face her with a ‘seriously?’ look. She shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly and said,

“What? I'm just suggesting things and don't look at me like that. You've not been checking our posts for a long time now and that's unfair. I mean Sophia and I always check out, like and comment on your posts on all social media platforms but you've not been checking ours. And don't you even think about saying you've been busy, because I know you have nothing to do at all”. Anna ranted, clearly annoyed.

“Fine, fine, I'll check them out now”. I said and brought out my phone. I opened Anna's account first and started scrolling through. I looked at her and asked “Happy?”. She nodded her head in agreement.

I went back to liking her posts. Anna was an actress. Like she was the bad ass out of all three of us, she was the action type of girl. She acted more of the action, horror, thriller, comedy, tragedy type of movies, other than the romance or chick flick genre.

I was really glad she was not into romance genres because I was not the romance or chick flick type. Yeah, as her friend I would have to be supportive but it would have been difficult, so she made it easier. Most times, if I had no work to do, I would watch her movies and I had watched all the movies she had acted in so far.

Sophia hated and was not really into tragic or horror movies, she was more of the romance and 'happily ever after' type. But as a supportive friend, she always watched Anna's movies, even if later that night she had a nightmare. That was how much we really loved and cared for each other.

I moved to check out Sophia's posts. Sophia was a gymnast. She was very flexible and had been going for trainings ever since she was 5. When we were very little, I really wanted to try out gymnastics because I loved how she would do the splits easily and other skills, so I also practised for a while and it paid off.

I could do some of the basics such as the splits, back handspring, handstand, split leap, round off, and cast. I couldn't keep my balance well enough for the turn on 1 foot, so I gave up and stuck to the normal planks, cobra stretch, leg raises and model fitness exercises.

Sophia was very flexible and I was also flexible but just up to a certain point, while Anna well, she did have to stay fit due to the stunts she had to perform in her movies. Well, that sums up our jobs.

I continued scrolling through her pictures and I was looking at the ones she posted from her gymnastic event on the uneven bars at the Olympics when someone nudged my side.

I looked up to see it was Sophia but she was looking at something in front of her. I turned my head and saw it was the last person I would ever wish to see in this life right now.

I hardened my gaze and stared unflinchingly at his own blank gaze.

“Hey ladies” came the drunk idiot's flirtatious voice. I kept looking at his blank blue eyes, oblivious to my environment.

We kept staring at each other, I, with my gaze meaning ‘scurry off and never come back’, but looks like he didn't get it, because he just kept staring and I wouldn't be the one to back down, not now or ever.

Suddenly, Anna, Sophia and the drunk idiot all cleared their throats dramatically, successfully breaking our heated optical conversation. The idiot whispered something into his ear and pulled away, smiling at us.

“I apologise ladies. My friend here doesn't usually act like this. He must have been rendered speechless by this angel on Earth”. The idiot said while smirking at me. His friend, I'll just call him plaguey, shut his eyes tightly in annoyance and his lips formed into a thin line.

Sophia giggled while Anna just smirked amusedly, probably amused at this idiot's effrontery to flirt with me.

“Oh where are my manners? I'm sorry. My name is Ryan and my friend here is Xavier”. He said and extended his hand out to shake Anna.

“Anna”. She said and shook him. He took her hand and kissed her knuckles while smirking at her. It was obvious he was a playboy. It seeped through his every action and words.

He did the same to Sophia as well and she mumbled her name while giggling. “He's such a gentleman”. She whispered in my ear.

He let go of her and stretched his hand to me. I looked blankly at his outstretched hand and looked at his face before crossing my arms over my chest and leaning back on the couch.

He gently withdrew his hands and asked “You're not much of a talker, are you?

Sophia nudged my side and whispered,

“He's just being nice, Laxy. You don't have to be rude”. I narrowed my eyes at the two men, ignoring Sophia's words.

After a moment of silence, Plaguey, actually named Xavier nodded his head curtly at Anna and Sophia and looked at me, not bothering to flirt like his friend. He stepped closer and started talking,

“I'm sorry about your car. We're sorry to intrude, I just wanted to apologise. I know this is coming late but I really am sorry. If you had allowed me to, I would have fixed your car, so the least I can do is apologise”. He said bluntly.

I continued staring at him with no expression at all. Anna and Sophia started nudging me to say something. I gritted my teeth, clenched my fists and stood up abruptly.

Plaguey and the idiot stumbled a bit before regaining their composure, clearly taken aback by my sudden movement.

“Obtrusive. I clearly told you to never cross my path ever again but you chose not to listen, didn't you?”. I gritted out, getting angrier. The urge to run away from him kept tugging at my heart. There was something about this man that made me uneasy. I felt like he was going to bring trouble and imbalance to my life.

I grabbed the unfinished drink on the table and emptied it on his suit before smashing the bottle on the floor, earning a shocked gasp from Sophia and making everyone turn to us.

He looked at me, anger clearly visible in his eyes. I moved closer to him and matched his gaze with my blank one before gritting out,

“Clearly you needed a bit of assurance that I didn't speak mere words and I meant every damn bit of what I said. If you ever cross my path again, you're gonna experience something worse”.

I looked at his friend and back to him again before saying austerely.

“Both of you”.

With that said, I walked out of the VIP section and out of the club with everyone's attention on my retreating figure and I could feel his furious burning gaze the most.

I won't let anyone into my life. If he spells ‘trouble’, I would make sure I got rid of him before he infested my life.
