Chapter Sixteen— Friends

Galaxia's POV

I was dressed up and in my car, on my way to work. Whenever I remember that man and what he did to my car, I just got more pissed off. If he's lucky, then I hope I never meet him ever again.

This was what happened yesterday, Sunday.

(Flashback)

Ding Dong

I heard my door bell ring. It was 6:30a.m in the morning and I just finished my work out session. I went downstairs and opened the door to see a man with a toolbox.

"G-good morning Miss Galaxia. Miss Crawford said you needed me so I c-came as early as possible". He tried to sound brave but I could clearly see through his pretense.

I walked out and went to my backyard, ignoring his greetings. I showed him where my car was and the damages.

"One heck of a bastard did that to my car". I said, my hands automatically fisted at my sides.

I took a deep breath and unclenched my fists. I turned back to him and said,

"Fix all of that. I don't want to see a single scratch on it".

"Y-yes miss Galaxia". I turned on my heel and went inside. My day went as usual and after some hours, he knocked on my door and said he was done.

I went to see what he did and he did it quite well, not even a scratch was in sight. I nodded my head curtly in approval and he breathed a sigh of relief.

"You may leave. Before you get home, payment would be made into your account".

I said and started leaving.

"Thank y-you very much ma'am". He shouted.

I went inside, grabbed my phone and called Crawford.

"G-good day m-miss Galaxia".

"Send a hundred thousand dollars into the repairer's account now". I said to her and hung up. And the rest of my day was spent watching TV, drawing and listening to music.

(End of flashback).

I arrived in my company and walked in. Everyone greeted as usual and I just head into my office. I continued working as usual and after few hours, Crawford's voice came through the intercom, hesitantly.

"M-ma'am? Y-you have visitors".

"If they are seeking partnership, call security on them". I answered dismissively as I continued drawing.

"U-uhmm no ma'am, they are not business a-associates".

"Then who are they?". I asked, still drawing, paying only half of my attention to her words.

"..." No reply came from her.

"Well...". I asked again and still got no response. Then suddenly my door burst open and two people I never thought could be here that moment, came right through the door.

Anna and Sophia strutted in and stood before my desk with a proud gait while Crawford hesitantly and fearfully stepped in.

"M-ma'am, I'm s-s-sorry. I didn't let them in b-b-but they just e-entered". She stuttered fearfully.

I knew how Anna was. She would never listen to rules or restrictions and Sophia just went with the flow. There was no way Crawford could have stopped them but I decided to vent my anger on her since I was still pissed off about the car.

"I pay you to do a simple job and that is to inform me whenever I have visitors, get rid of them if they're trash and follow me around like a lost puppy, but you still can't do it well". I said with a hard scowl on my face.

"M-ma'a--".

"Looks like you don't value your job. You can always resign when you want to or do I have to fire you myself?". She gulped and said,

"I-I'm s-s-sorry ma'am".

"Get out". I said and she scurried out of my office. I looked up at my friends and Anna had an amused expression on her face while Sophia glared at me in disapproval.

I slowly got up from my seat and wore a smile on my face as I made my way over to them. They started walking closer.

"You still haven't changed". Anna said, shaking her head in amusement before hugging me.

"I don't need to change. I'm perfectly fine the way I am". I retorted and hugged her back.

"But don't you think you were a bit rude to her? I mean we both know no one can stop Anna from doing what she wants". Sophia interjected and hugged me.

I rolled my eyes and embraced her back. Sophia had always been the 'goody two shoes' type while Anna was the bad ass. I didn't know what I was, but I definitely ain't 'goody two shoes'. You guys can be the judge of that.

"Soph, are you here to lecture me about my behaviour? If so, then I think you're wasting your time". I said and head back to my seat.

She rolled her eyes in return and shrugged her shoulders.

"Wouldn't hurt to try". She said with a smile.

I sighed and continued drawing.

"What are you doing?". Anna asked, irritation vividly seeping through her voice.

I looked up and saw Anna glaring at me with her arms crossed.

"Working?". I replied confusedly.

"Your best friends whom you haven't seen for about two years now, decided to come spend time with you and you see them, as rude as you are, you don't offer them a seat and you greet them as though you guys haven't been friends since childhood".

She blabbed on,

"I know you're no fun, Laxy, but I didn't know you've become this 18th century old lady who works and does not have fun".

"Yeah 18th century old lady". Sophia reiterated.

I rolled my eyes, already knowing their trick. They were trying to propel me into proving them wrong by agreeing to go out with them, thereby biting the bait.

"I have work to do, girls. Your trick's not working this time".

"Come on". Anna whined, flailing her arms around.

"Yeah, come on Laxy". Sophia backed her up.

"Sophia is even turning out to be more fun than you".

"Yeah I am... Wait, what? Hey I was always fun". Sophia interjected.

"Not the point, Soph. We need to convince Laxy". Anna replied dismissively while Soph grumbled under her breath. I kept watching them both in amusement.

"You guys can just walk around the city and shop, that's what you do best. You're popular, I'm sure your fans would go wild to see you".

"Yeah, obviously". Anna said and flipped her hair in pride. She continued,

"But you have fans as well and we came all the way to New York to spend time with you. We've missed you a lot. We're worried that without us, you would grow to become a boring, nagging old lady. I mean the process has already begun. Right, Soph?".

"Exactly. For a powerful and successful woman that makes 'in Vogue' fashion collections, you sure are old school". Sophia replied.

"Hmm mmm". Anna hummed and nodded her head in agreement. I just kept watching them and finally I decided to speak,

"Soph, not you too. I thought you were with me on this". I whined.

"Sorry, Laxy. But you really are becoming boring and introverted. You're crawling back into the dark corner like you did after the incident". She replied.

"Soph, it's really--". I was becoming really tired of this conversation.

"We know it's a sensitive topic for you Laxy and we're not gonna bring it up, but we're really worried about you. You're shutting everyone out again". Anna said sadly.

I sighed in frustration and rubbed my face. They were always worried about me unnecessarily like I was a kid or something.

"So all of this speech talk only to get me to go out with you girls, uhn?". I asked, attempting to bring the discussion to an end, even if it meant agreeing to go out with them. They smiled sadly in reply.

"Fine. If that's what going to make you both keep quiet and stop your lectures. Let me pack my things, then we can leave, ok?".

They grinned widely and nodded their heads eagerly. I rolled my eyes and got up while packing my things. They hugged me and said,

"We love you, Laxy".

I smiled at them and said,

"I love you guys too". And we started walking out the door.

Xavier's POV

"Yo, dude". Ryan said, entering my office unannounced yet again. He had been doing that a lot lately and it was starting to annoy me.

"Man, you gotta stop doing that. It's rude, you know? What if you walked in on something, uhn?".

He laughed loudly at my words and clutched his stomach.

"Oh...oh my God...you? Something? No offence, but you don't have it in you. Besides, that's what you get for leaving me alone Saturday night. I'm pretty sure you had a crazy adventure".

He said, sitting down.

"Oh, it was crazy alright". I mumbled, recalling the encounter I had with the angry lady.

He raised an eyebrow in question.

"So, you had an adventure then?". He asked curiously.

"I wouldn't call it that. More like a disaster and I'm hoping never to meet her again".

He leaned forward immediately,

"Her? You met a lady?". He asked with a smirk.

"Yes I did". I said simply, trying to dismiss the conversation.

"Well?continue, you're keeping me on edge". He prodded anxiously. Looks like he wanted to know more. I sighed and started telling him how I was deep in thought and ended up hitting her car.

I told him about how mad she was and how she even went ahead to almost using a pepper spray on me. I also told him about her threat and how I hope to never meet her again.

After hearing my story, Ryan just sat there shocked, not saying anything before he blinked back to reality.

"Wow, she sounds feisty". He finally said.

"Oh, if you had seen her, you wouldn't be saying this. She was not only feisty, she had this dominating, cold and belligerent aura around her".

I found myself remembering how dull and lifeless her eyes were. How could a living being have such cold and lifeless eyes.

Ryan cleared his throat, snapping me out of my trance. I looked at him and saw his amused expression.

"What?". I cleared my throat and asked in confusion.

"You were thinking about her, weren't you?". His voice was laced with amusement.

"What? No, of course not. Why would I? I already told you, I don't want to ever see her again".

"Hmmm, well I would like to meet her. It would be fun to have someone spice up the atmosphere in your life. Your life is too freaking boring, no loopholes, fun or excitement".

"I've had enough excitement, fun and loopholes for a lifetime". I said, remembering that it was a life of fun that killed my brother and destroyed my perfect family in the first place.

Sensing my gloomy mood, Ryan placed his hand over mine on the table and said,

"Come on dude, I was just kidding. Don't get all gloomy on me. Though, I really want to meet her".

I sighed and shook my head,

"Women will be the death of you".

"What? Am I supposed to date a man? If that's what you want, I'm sorry but I don't swing that way, dude. I think holding your hand was a bad idea".

He said and hurriedly removed his hand from mine. I rolled my eyes at him and scoffed,

"Yeah right, just say you're attracted to me, man". I said while batting my eyelashes.

"Ewww dude, that's gross. Don't ever do that again".

I laughed and finally asked,

"Why are you here anyway?".

He clasped his hands together and rested them on the table, a smirk played on his face as he began, saying,

"Let's talk business".
