5:⚡

A few days later, Ollie still had not called or texted back. I was worried, especially when we fought. We have never been able to communicate or see each other for so long. Looking around at my white bedroom ceiling, I had a million thoughts running through my head, and I could not help but keep thinking about how much I love Ollie and why I am writing down my feelings for this unknowing supervillain. I loved Ollie as a brother, but recently I began to have feelings for him. I became more attracted to him over the years. Mom said it was just a case of teenage hormones. However, Dad said, "Sometimes you fall in love with your best friend, and that is normal, especially when you have a male best friend." I swear, being a female superhero teenager can be challenging, especially when hormones get in the way of fighting crime or just trying to have a normal life. Sometimes, I just wish I could have a normal day with friends and family without having to keep so many secrets, lie to everyone, or hide things from so many people that it hurts. As I lay in bed, I heard Dash running up the stairs and suddenly jumping on the bed with his ball. He was ready for me to throw the ball. When I grabbed the ball, Dash started to lick my face. He climbed on top of me and somehow accepted most of my bed. As Dash rolled over towards me, I fell off the bed and ended up on the floor with a huge crash sound that echoed through the house.

My mom ran upstairs and jumped into my room, saying, "Oh, thank heavens, I thought you got hurt seriously, and did Dash kick you out of your bed again?" she said while trying to catch her breath from running up the stairs.

"Yeah, Mom, I am okay, and Dash is just being silly again." He needs to go for a walk and maybe a few pup cups at the coffee shop," I said as I got up from the bed and put some shoes on. Dash jumped up and down with excitement, obviously ready to go. I grabbed his leash, and we headed out the door. As we walked, I felt my stress fade away and was grateful for his unconditional love.

"Oh, don't forget to take some cash off the kitchen table; we need some coffee too, and let's just hope you don't spill or drop any doughnuts, unlike the last time," she said and left my bedroom. I took the cash and headed out the door. I made sure to be extra careful with the coffee and doughnuts, not wanting to make the same mistake twice. When I arrived at the office, everyone was happy to see me and the snacks.

As soon as I got down the stairs, Dash was waiting for me with his leash in his mouth and a big smile on his face. He knew he would embark on a big adventure. Since this dog tends to poop a lot, I grabbed my small bookbag, a treat bag, and poop bags. As I clipped his leash to his collar, he bolted out the door like a lightning bolt, and I was flying down the stairs while trying to hold onto his leash. When he stopped to smell the tree outside, I caught my breath before he took me on another run, so I grabbed my phone to text Ollie where I was going with Dash. After a few seconds, I decided to head to the coffee shop. On the way, Dash decided to sniff every single tree and chase a few squirrels up them. Dash is the type of dog who goes nuts for squirrels, especially when they like to come steal the newspaper off the front steps, and he always likes to fetch the newspaper for Dad every morning. Sometimes, when I come down, I see my dad and Dash reading the newspaper. My dad reads the crime reports, and Dash tends to tear up the parts of the newspaper that show a photo of a criminal. We think he has some issues and needs to see a therapist or something.

We arrived at the coffee shop. I walked in with Dash behind me, wagging his tail, knowing he would get a special pup cup from the owner, who also has a secret identity just like mine. I walked up to the counter and said,

"I would like to order a buzzing coffee with extra vanilla sweet cream and a few different doughnuts, and before I leave, I would like to get my dad a few cold brew coffee trip shots. Oh, and my mom wants to try the newly released "Red Line" coffee. Also, remember a special pup cup for Dash?" I told her while grabbing my bank card from my wallet.

Chole rang up my purchase after swiping my card. Before I left, I thanked her and grabbed my items, saying thank you. She smiled and said, "That'll be zero dollars." I was surprised and asked why. She replied, "It's my way of giving back; I hope you have a great day." I thanked her again, and I walked out with a smile on my face.

I stepped away from the counter and found a spot by the window to keep an eye on Ollie. Upon scanning the store, I could not find Ollie. After sighing and heading toward the exit, a sense of disappointment settled in my stomach. Despite my expectations, Ollie was not here. My only choice was to search elsewhere for him. However, in the meantime, I walked over to the table and put Dash in a laydown position. I took a collapsible bowl out of my backpack, poured the water into it, and gave it to Dash. My smile spread across my face as Dash drank the water, and I patted him on the head. I knew that I had to find Ollie soon, but I couldn't help but take a moment to appreciate the joy Dash was feeling. I felt a little bit better knowing that, at least for now, Dash was safe and happy.

Chloe came to my table with the biggest puppy cup for Dash. She knows how much he loves pup cups and always gets spoiled by her. Dash licked the pup cup clean, and I thanked Chloe for her kindness. She smiled and told me she was happy to do it. As she walked away, she asked me...

"Hey Sky, Is there anything wrong, and do you need someone to talk to?" she asked.

During Chloe's question, I was not sure how to respond. I am not used to people being so direct with me, and it makes me feel like someone is always there for me. She was like a sister to me, and I could never trade anything in the world with her. I was so grateful to her for always being there for me and for understanding me. I knew then that I had found a genuine connection with Chloe, a connection I will never forget.

"Yeah, I got into a big fight with Ollie over something stupid, and now he won't ever call or text me so I can explain," I said, looking down at my half cup of coffee.

"Oh well, that explains why Ollie is not here with you and Dash. It would be great if you would tell me about it, and I hope I can help in any way, such as by giving you the best advice and fixing your friendship with him." She smiled warmly and spoke.

"Are you sure?" "It is getting busy in here," I told her as I saw people around the counter.

"Yeah, don't worry, we have more staff around, and they can take care of the guests," she said as she reached for her cup of coffee.

"Okay, so I have feelings for Ollie, like I have some kind of crush on him," I said, blushing.

"When you spend a lot of time with your best friend, it happens, sweetie," Chloe said, pouring more water into Dash's bowl.

"Yeah, I heard about that and recently went on my first mission, and I met an unknown upcoming supervillain, and well, I may have deep feelings for him as well. I do not know why I feel this way, but my heart wants what it wants. I know he is dangerous, but I cannot help but feel a connection to him. I do not know what to do. Also, I have feelings for Ollie, and I have no idea why or what to do." I told her and sighed.

Chloe looked at me, concerned. "I think you should listen to your heart, but be careful. You don't want to get hurt, or more importantly, put yourself in danger." She put her hand on my shoulder and smiled reassuringly.

"It sounds like you are in a love triangle, and I have been there before when I was your age," she said and giggled.

I grabbed another scoop of coffee and asked her, "Do you know what I should do?" "Who should I choose?" she answered.

"Well, sweetie, you will just have to find out on your own, and if I were you, I would find out soon, so your heart won't be broken and shattered into a million fragmented pieces," she said, reaching out to squeeze my hand gently.

"Oh, okay, thank you," I told her. She smiled at me and gave me an encouraging nod. I took a deep breath and nodded back. I knew what I had to do.

"Well, I should get back to work and tell your parents, and don't forget to tell them there is a superhero meeting tomorrow night at the superhero secret lair," I whispered, so no one could hear me.

"Yeah, you are right, and thank you. Also, do not worry; I will tell them, see you there, and thank you for the advice," I told her as I got up from the table and picked up Dash's leash.

We said goodbye, and I started walking home with Dash. As I walked, I thought about what she said and how I should approach the situation. I was feeling more confident and aware of what I should do. I was determined to find a solution that made me happy. I knew I had to be open-minded and understanding. I was sure that if I listened carefully, we could work it out. I took a deep breath and focused on the positive. I was sure I could find a way to make it work. With a renewed sense of hope, I turned the corner and headed home.
