I was walking home from a bank robbery. I felt extremely disappointed in myself, knowing I had messed up on my first mission. I knew my father would talk about what happened and see the few injuries I got from the unknown supervillain. As I walked the last few blocks away from my house, I decided it would not be wise to run home. This is due to pain in my left leg after accidentally hitting it on something while getting pinned to the floor. When I take a few steps, I flinch in pain. I decided to take it slowly and steadily, leaning on a wall for support. I also tried to take deep breaths to alleviate the pain as I walked. Finally, I made it home and was relieved to be safe.

I am aware of the serious nature of my injury. When I pressed my foot, a stinging pain shot up my leg. This made me want to find a spot to sit down and rest, but I was only a few houses away. When I reached my house, I took a deep breath and opened the tall, red door. As I stepped into the house, I heard my mom laughing at something funny my dad said while reacting to one of his famous fights with his archenemies. Despite the pain, I could not help but smile at the sound of my parents' voices. I knew that I would be okay and that I was in the best possible place.

As I slowly approached the kitchen, I smiled, knowing they were having fun, and I did not want to interrupt their moment together. As I slowly walked past the kitchen in pain, my parents saw me. My dad said, "How was your day, sweetie?" while cutting the chicken for dinner.

"It was okay. I'm just tired." As I went to my room, my dad called out, "We'll have dinner ready soon." Nodding, I closed the door.

"Yeah, tell us." "I heard something big happen today," she said as she stirred the large pot on the stove. "Well, I had my first mission today against an unknown young supervillain who was trying to rob the bank," I said while looking down, trying not to have a panic attack until I saw a big fluffy golden retriever turning towards me.

"Dash, don't you dare jump on the chair and get the chicken?" Mom yelled, then realized she feared the dog.

"Honey, it's okay; he didn't mean to jump on the table, and it's not his fault; after all, he is a big fan of your cooking; after all, you are one of the most talented cooks in this town besides being a superhero." Dad said this and chuckled as he flipped the newspaper page.

"Oh, shush, you know why I am the better cook..." At least I did not set the fire alarm off or have a small stovetop fire," Mom said and giggled.

Dad replied, "That's because your cooking is so good; it's practically fireproof." They both laughed and hugged, happy to be together.

"We all know I am the baker of the family, especially when all of you love my famous breakfast, especially when we have the yearly superhero brunch," I said while lowering myself to the floor to pet Dash.

"That is a very valid point. "I am hungry, so let us dig in," dad said while making himself a plate.

"This dinner looks delicious; thanks Mom for cooking tonight after having a bad day, and I can't wait to start eating," I said while limping to the kitchen island to fill my plate with some food.

"Honey, what is wrong, and why are you limping?" Mom asked while walking around the island and grabbing my plate for me.

"I, um, got hurt while fighting this unknown citizen vigilante that is running around the city like he is some kind of supervillain," I said while trying not to lose my balance while walking to the kitchen table.

"Oh, I heard about this guy. Well, the council has, but no one knows who he is or where he came from. However, since it was on the news, the mayor is conducting a full investigation, so we'll find out soon." He said this as he cut his steak into smaller pieces.

"I sure hope so; no kid should get hurt or make a fool of himself... Oh, sh*t, honey, I didn't mean to defend you," Mom said while walking over to the kitchen table with my plate of food.

"No, it's okay, but I shouldn't let him go like that, and I guess I need more training for the next time we meet," I said, looking down at my plate of food.

"Well, you will train soon, but first you need to heal and relax." "Do not worry; you will be back in a flash in no time," says Dad as he stuffs his mouth with potatoes.

"Yeah, and soon it will be my turn to pay back," I said while cutting my food up.

"Sweetheart, you should speak to the council and find out information about any villains that might have kids or something," Mom said as she bent down to give Dash steak pieces.

"Dear, did you know that giving him steak can make him fat?" "We don't need a fat dog around here, especially when it comes to giving him more walks. He laughed, knowing it would be true in the next few months.

"It is just an extra treat." After all, today is a special day, and a bit of steak will not hurt him," Mom said as she continued to scrape more steak into his dish.

Even though he scooped more food onto his plate, Dad said, "It's okay if you don't blame me at the next vet appointment next week."

"Well, the vet does not have to know unless someone says something. I am talking to you, Dad." I said this and laughed as I saw Dash run to his dish for dinner.

"Well, no one says a damn word to the vet, or we can't take him to my restaurant afterward and have a delicious dinner," she said, and she poured water into his bowl.

Before I started eating, I said, "Don't say anything; you won't be able to try my delicious dessert." I have planned for the dessert special," I said.

As we ate dinner, my mind flashed back to the memory of my eyes locking into his; my heart skipped a beat, and I felt my face warm. In my memory, his chestnut-brown eyes appeared like two Hershey's kisses as he investigated mine. I remember how he smiled as he looked down into my eyes after bending over me. I was on the icy floor in pain while trying not to scream. I remember my mom saying something like If your heart skips a beat and you just feel sick, then you are feeling the love at first sight. I never felt like this before with someone, not even with my best friend Oliver, who just happened to be a superhero in training and whose dad is the "Lighting Arrow," who just happens to be my father's "Red Bolt's" best friend and partner in crime in fighting crime and saving the city from the bad guys. As I daydreamed of his lips so close to mine, my mom suddenly said:

"Don't you dare, and the last one you shot at me in the butt, and that hurts. I will see you there soon. Good night, and thank you, I say as I lay down and hit the send button. After I sent that message, I fell fast asleep with Dash snuggling up with me in my bed. He snorted away like he had allergies on this scorching summer night. I slept through the night, dreaming of the daring adventure that awaited me the next day. I was ready to conquer whatever obstacles were in my way. I knew I had to be brave and take risks, but I was determined to succeed.
