Breaking the Soundwave

1: ⚡

I never considered it a life-or-death call. In my case, the calls were quite different. For example, saving a cat from a tree or saving hostages in a bank robbery—I remember when my father's superhero phone rang. He is outside the door like a lightning bolt, with sparks flying behind him. As soon as my turn comes, I think about it. I pray that I am also thinking about when my superhero training will finally pay off. This is especially true after spending hours running, fighting, and learning to control my superpowers so I do not run into too many walls. This is challenging, especially when you are blind like a bat. But when I heard the call, I knew that I was a step closer to becoming a hero. I feel a surge of energy, and my heart races in anticipation. I am excited to finally be able to use my powers to help people and have influence.

When I turned thirteen, I remember getting a special gift for my birthday. It was a big box wrapped in my favorite colors, green and blue, with a black ribbon wrapped around it. The box had my first superhero costume. In the middle of my costume, there was a lightning bolt that matched my father. However, instead of red and yellow, it looked like electric blue and green. When he runs, a lightning bolt follows him. I do not know how my lightning bolt differs from my father's. However, he says my colors make me unique, and no other speedster or superhero has the same colors as me.

I woke up from my nap. My superhero cell rang off, and in seconds, I got up from my warm, cozy bed. I quickly changed into my superhero costume. I grabbed my phone quickly from my bedside table. I opened the phone to see a message saying, "There is a robbery at the local bank with some hostages." "Be advised of an unknown supervillain." I took my mask, put it on my face, and bolted out of the door like my life depended on it. As I ran, I saw my green and blue lightning bolts follow behind me. I tried to catch my breath but stopped a few blocks from the bank to grab a bottle of water from my favorite coffee shop. They always put too many espresso shots in my drink, which made me run faster than ever. As I drank from the water bottle, I overheard an old lady yelling for help. My superhero training and instincts kicked into overdrive, and I rushed to her with the water bottle in my hand in the blink of an eye.

As I approached the old lady, my first instinct was to calm her down before she had a stroke, a heart attack, or even a brain aneurysm. I grabbed her hands to grab her attention, but she was looking up at a tall tree for something, so I asked her.

"Excuse me, do you need some help?" "I overheard you yelling for help, and I thought I could help," I told her in a calm voice.

"Oh, yes, please." My pussycat is stuck up in the tree and will not come down. I have tried everything. Wait a minute. Are you Red Bolt's child? "I never thought he had one, and you both look so alike," she said while looking at me.

"Yeah, I am, and you tell me what is in the tree," I ask her as my brain tries to understand what she just said.

"My cat, my baby, is stuck in the tree and won't come down. I was just walking my cat to the mailbox to grab my mail and newspaper when suddenly someone ran right past us, and I felt the ground shake like an earthquake," she said while trying not to panic even more.

"Um, okay, I'm just planning to use my super speed to climb up and grab her. Here, can you hold my water bottle for me?" "I will be back in a flash," I told her, and I giggled.

I quickly climbed up the tall tree and thought, "I could have saved lives then rather than being stuck here rescuing a cat in the tree. As I climbed closer to the cat, she hissed and squatted her paw at me. I was so close to reaching her again when I suddenly felt another "earthquake feeling" and was almost knocked off the long branch. As I felt that shake, my mind drifted to the time my father fought his enemy. I remember that his most powerful enemy had the same or similar powers. I cannot figure it out since it has been a few years since they last fought. My father put his enemy behind bars as a supervillain.

As I reached the cat, I grabbed her quickly and put her in my left arm, then started climbing down the tree. I turned around and blew a puff to move the stained hair out of my eyes. I gave the cat back to the lady, and the cat had a huge hissy fit, biting and scratching my arm. Once I fell from the tree safely, I gave her the cat back. The cat at once purred and snuggled into her chest. When she looked at me and whispered, "Thank you," I replied:

"You are very welcome; thanks for holding my water bottle; before I left, she had grabbed my name and told me... I told her and smiled before leaving in a flash.

Before I left, she had grabbed my name and told me... "Please be careful, sweetheart; this world is crazy, and don't get hurt saving the day just like your father," she said while still holding my arm.

'Don't worry, I was trained by one of the best superheroes, and like a father, like a daughter, I love saving the world in a flash," I said.

"Wait, dear, what is your name just in case I need you to rescue Luna again or need your help again?" she said as she put Luna in her backpack.

"My name is Ella. I mean, Phoenix, and you're very welcome," I told her, smiling before running to my mission.

As I turned around and headed towards the bank, I smiled and thought of helping the older woman rescue her best friend. Though I was running, I almost exposed my identity by revealing my real name. My father always told me to never give out my real name or anything else that could clue strangers into my identity. This is in case something bad happens.

I ran and ran as fast as I could, which for normal people would take minutes, but for me, it was a split second. As I finally reached the bank, I saw multiple police cars, a few ambulances, fire trucks, new reporters, and lots of people behind the police tape. I also noticed people wondering and talking about the situation. When I got to the front of the crowd, my superhero instincts kicked in. I knew I had to do something, so I used my super speed to get inside the bank and save everyone. I was able to rescue all the hostages and take down the criminals in a matter of seconds. Everyone was relieved and grateful for my help. I was praised as a hero, and the media gave me the name "The Flash." From then on, I realized my true purpose was to use my powers to help people in need. I vowed to dedicate my life to protecting the innocent and keeping them safe from danger. As I watched, I saw the police talking to each other, forming a plan to rescue the hostages and take down the supervillain. As I approached the officers, I said...

"Excuse me, I am here to help; I was called to this mission, but don't worry, I come in peace... and with donuts and coffee!" I said it proudly.

"Sorry, little girl, we've got it covered." How about you go to your house and play superhero with your friends?" "We are in charge and do not need your help at all," an officer said, looking down at his digitized bank map. The girl pouted and backed away slowly. She watched the officers work in silence before turning away and walking back home with her head hung low. She felt dejected and disappointed, believing her help was not needed or appreciated. When she arrived home, she decided to write a letter to the officers to thank them for their hard work and dedication. She wanted them to know that, even though she could not help, she was still grateful for their efforts.

As a backup, I was called if you couldn't save the people and save the day." I replied and turned away. She wrote that she was impressed by their bravery and courage in the face of danger. She concluded by wishing them luck in all their future endeavors and thanking them for their service.

As I walked away, I noticed something; my enchanted hearing picked up something that sounded familiar, but I could not figure it out. As I stepped into the alley in the back, I saw a door open. I walked through the door as quickly as I could, like a cat capturing a mouse. When I entered the back door of the bank next to the vault, I saw something vibrate past me. The floor moved so fast; it was like an earthquake. When I stepped farther into the bank, I noticed that the hostages were all tied up with rope and their mouths were covered in duct tape; they were on the floor, packing, never knowing what could happen to them. In a shaky voice and low sitting position, I approached them quietly with my finger on my mouth, but I was at once grabbed by the supervillain. I turned around and saw that the supervillain was someone I knew. I knew his voice and eyes, but my mind was mixed with different emotions and adrenaline as I felt like my world was flipped upside down.
