Chapter 6

Alexei's POV

I opened my eyes and sat up straight causing the blankets pooled at my waist. Frowning, I look out the room window to see it was still dark outside. According to the alarm clock on the bedside table, it was only 04:20 AM.

Then I heard it, the cluttering from the kitchen. Slowly climbing out of bed, I grabbed my gun in the drawer. Taking the safety off and loading it, I walked to the room door. It was half open and I glance through to see a man in a bandit mask rounding my desk, where my laptop stood.

I thought back to the previous night, wondering if I put it to sleep or locked it. I could see the man typing away trying to enter my password. He started getting frustrated with the struggle. I took a step out of the room and pointed the gun at him.

"Can I help you?" He jumped up and in a blink had his own gun pointed at me. His mistake was that I could see he didn't load the gun. I smirked and stated the obvious. "I'm going to kill you." He looked at my laptop and my eyes followed his eyes.

On the side, he had plugged in a USB Drive and I shook my head. Luckily, my gun is always dressed with a silencer. "You shouldn't have done that." Before he could make a move I shot one single bullet between his eyes.

As he fell to the ground I moved to see what he was loading on the USB. It was my client list. I shook my head in anger and looked down at the body once more. I canceled the download and walked to my room. Was this the work of Xenia, even after I told him not to do anything stupid?

I grabbed my phone and dialed. After a few rings, the owner picked up the phone. "Oleg, sorry to bother you so early." I heard rustling on the other side. "No problem, what can I help with Boss?" I glanced back at the man on the ground.

"I need you, Adrian and Michail, to come to my room. Also, send the clean-up crew." Crouching down I lifted the mask off the mystery man's face. "We have a problem." I continued not waiting for Oleg to answer. "Yes, sir."

I ended the call and stared at the face of the unknown man. What did he want with my client list? Or more importantly, who did the USB belong to? It wasn't long before there was a knock on my door. I opened it and saw a groggy looking Michail but a wide-awake Oleg. "Adrian is on his way."

Let me explain, I owned this hotel, it was one of my many properties. I was staying here because my house was being renovated after a recent shoot out happened there. My hotels were a cover-up for the things I really did. Michail and Oleg lived in the hotel with me, just on the floor below. Michail lived with his on-and-off-again girlfriend, while Oleg lived with his wife.

Adrian had bought a house after his wife got pregnant the first time. He had gone home over the weekend to stay with his wife, who is pregnant for the second time. Oleg walked to the man on the floor.

"Who is he and what was he doing here?" Michail followed me as I walked closer. "I don't know who he was but he was downloading information on this USB." I pulled out the USB and showed it to Oleg. He was our IT guy.

"You didn't lock your computer." He glanced at me and frowned. "No, I did. I don't understand how he got in." Michail looked at the man again, then up to me. "Why does he look familiar?" I shook my head and shrugged.

Oleg glanced at the door as Adrian walked in. He glanced once at the victim and shook his head. "That is, Xenia's 3rd cousin." Adrian had an eidetic memory. He only had to see a person once and would never forget who he was.

Oleg shook his head and sighed, "It had to be a Trojan horse virus. The moment he plugged it in, it broke through your firewalls. This would make it easy to just enter your computer without a password and then be able to download anything."

"From what I can see it's not one of those special USBs that uploaded on a computer while downloading, so if it was Xenia, he didn't get anything." I shook my head and walked to my room. I was pissed off and sleep-deprived.

With less than 2 hours of sleep, I knew today was going to be a long one. I took a shower and got dressed. When I walked into the living room, I saw the cleaning crew finishing up and only Michail was left in the room.

"Oleg left to take the USB to the office and Adrian is outside making calls." I plopped down on the couch and rested my head on the back of the couch. "Let's get this day started and over with."

I left the office after a meeting with the IT guys. They will figure out how that guy got inside my room and they will be tracking Xenia. Guess he didn't get the message. I'll have to find him and make an example out of him.

Rounding the corner of a building I crashed into a body. Instincts kicked in and I grabbed the body by the shoulders. Glancing down, to my surprise I found Emily, leaning against me. "Moi Izvineniya (My Apologies)." I chuckled and she looked up.

"You keep on pronouncing it wrong. You can simply just speak English and if they don’t understand then try to speak Russian." She blushed and took a step back. "Alexei. Good to see you." I smirked as she bit her lower lip. I pulled her back into my arms and released her lip between her teeth. "Don't do that."

Her breath hitched and I leaned closer. I don't know what demon took over my body but I leaned into her some more and breathed her in. Her clean scent sent a shiver down my back and I nipped her neck. She shivered into my body.
