Chapter 9 Revelation

Ellen was taken aback by Rowena's outpouring of emotion. Ellen had anticipated her mother's rage, but that was all. She hadn't expected Rowena to kick her out because Ellen couldn't decide which man was to blame for her pregnancy. Rowena had no idea that suing the man who had made Ellen pregnant would jeopardize their family's future.

"Mother?"

"Don't call me your mother if you don't want to talk about your pregnancy!"

Ellen had just found her mother, who could show this kind of anger. Ellen had no intention of concealing anything. However, she was forced to do so in order to provide for her family. Even though they were poor, they weren't terrorized by Chase, who had power and money. Ellen was already aware of Chase's power. Having witnessed it herself at the nightclub where she worked, Ellen didn't dare tell her mother, fearing that whatever information was circulating would be spread by someone other than their family, causing Chase more trouble.

"Get out of here!  Get out of my house, Ellen!"

Ellen sobbed and knelt beside her mother. "No, Mother. Don't do it."

Rowena forced Ellen to let go of her leg. Ellen, on the other hand, was adamant. Rowena dragged her feet with all her strength, forcing Ellen to stand and enter her first daughter's room.

"Mother, what are you doing?  Please don't treat me like this. Mother… I beg you. Please accept my apologies. Please forgive me."

Rowena pretended not to hear what Ellen said. Rowena wouldn't budge until Ellen told her everything. Rowena's rage grew as she learned more about what had happened to her child. So he wouldn't give in to Ellen's pleadings.

The old woman carried Ellen's bag to the front of the house and threw it away as soon as it was full of Ellen's clothes. "Go and don't come back if you don't want to tell me anything."

Ellen shook her head. She had no idea what could make her mother stop doing this. She even don't know where to go.

"What are you waiting for?  Get out of my house right now!" Rowena yelled so loud at Ellen.

Rowena persuaded Ellen to leave, even though she didn't want to. The old woman then ran into the house and shut the door, making it impossible for Ellen to get in.

"Mother… I'm begging you. Please forgive me. I had reasons for not explaining it to you. Mother, please open the door."

Rowena made the decision not to open the door. Ellen may have been in trouble, but Rowena was furious about everything that had happened. The old lady's mind couldn't think of anything else but punishing Ellen for refusing to share her story with Lilith.

Ellen, on the other hand, was unable to persuade her mother until some time had passed. She had to leave in such a humiliating state. If Ellen was still present, her mother's rage would not subside. So all Ellen could think about was finding a temporary residence and working to make ends meet today. It would be decided later whether Rowena would find out for kicking Ellen's away.

"I'm sorry, mother. I may not be the daughter who makes you proud but constantly makes things difficult for you. Please forgive me."

Ellen stared at the house she had lived in since she was a child, talking to herself. She apologizes for being unable to improve her family's situation and thus embarrassing herself. Then her legs carried Ellen's body away to nowhere.

Chase tries to find solace. The following nights were the same as the night he couldn't find Ellen. Ellen did not come to the club for work. According to the bartender, Ellen probably didn't want to work there anymore. I'm not sure why, but Chase seemed to have a strange feeling. He ended up watching Rowena's house the next day from inside his car, which was actually very noticeable because the man's car was expensive. For a few hours, there was only a girl who resembled Ellen, but Chase knew it wasn't Ellen. They just look alike, and Chase wonders why Ellen doesn't appear to be coming home when she's doing something else. Chase was convinced that something was wrong when he saw Rowena usher the girl who looked like Ellen up to the door and wave her hand for the girl who looked like she was still in school.

Rowena appeared to be very sensitive to the presence of a luxury car that was parked not far from the woman's house. Rowena approached Chase car, squinting her eyes and gluing the sweater, and knocked on the man's car window. Chase chose to roll down his window rather than flee.

"Cheese?" Rowena asked, surprised. "What are you doing in the car around here?" Rowena inquired, perplexed as to why the man was only in the car.

Chase was actually bothered by the way Rowena said her name, which had remained unchanged. Did Ellen explain it to her mother? Despite Chase reminder that Ellen was upset that night.

"Good day, Rowena."

Because they had been calling casually, Chase had no problem calling Rowena simply by name.

"Hello, Mr. Chase. But what are you doing here?" Rowena asked again.

"I actually have a need with Ellen. I intend to stay here and wait for her to return home. But I didn't see her leave or return home."

Chase apologized immediately upon seeing Rowena's uneasy expression.

"I'm sorry for not knocking on your door; I didn't want to wake you up in the morning. I didn't mean to make you feel bad by choosing to wait in the car."

Rowena smiled faintly as she shook her head slowly.
"Maybe we can talk inside my house?  I can't explain it in this situation, Chase."

Chase chose to accept an offer from Ellen's own mother. He wasn't going to pass up the chance to see Ellen, who might throw a fit if she saw Chase's face in her house again.

"Cheese, would you like something to drink?" Rowena inquired as soon as Chase sat on the couch, as he had done the first time he arrived at the house.

"I'll take whatever."

Chase tried his best to be polite with whatever Rowena had to offer. So, even if he had to suppress his curiosity about what Rowena would say, he would still wait for what she had to offer him.

"I'm sorry, but I can only offer you water and this bread."

Chase nodded and ate Rowena that Rowena offered to Chase as a sign of respect.

"Ellen isn't home," Rowena said, her voice sad.

"Oh, so she's decided to live alone now?" Chase, who didn't understand, asked.

"No, no. She... something happened, and we got into a fight. I kicked her out of the house."

Chase had just noticed Rowena crying. What's the deal with that woman? Didn't she say that she kicked Ellen out? So that's the reason why is she crying right now?

"How serious is the issue that you're arguing about?" Chase shook his head, realizing that his question was quite impolite. "Sorry. You don't have to respond if you don't want to."

Rowena remained silent for a moment before finally revealing the truth that caused Chase to choke. "She kept her pregnancy a secret."

Chase coughed loudly when he heard those words. The man couldn't calm down because he had already started to piece together what was going on in his own mind.

"What? Is Ellen pregnant?" Chase inquired after Rowena patted him on the shoulder to keep him from choking again, despite the fact that the movement had no effect on Chase at all.

"Yes. Ellen refused to tell me who the man who impregnated her was. I threw her out, furious. I intended to make her give up on telling who the man was responsible for by kicking her out, but she hasn't returned and continues to say nothing."

Rowena was still depressed, and Chase suffered a serious shock attack. He was at a loss for what to do. Should he tell Rowena that he is the father of that child in her womb? But Ellen had done a good job of choosing to keep her mouth shut about their time together that night.

"So, what do you have with Ellen?  Is it something important?" Rowena inquired.

Chase looked perplexed at the elderly lady. He was at a loss for an explanation.

"I …"

"Oh, you want to make peace with Ellen, don't you?  Your confusion isn't over yet, is it?" Rowena groaned. "Please forgive my daughter, Cheese. She's a little obstinate."

"You're not concerned about her?" Chase inquired.

"I'm worried about her, but I have no idea where she is. I also don't have much time to look for her because I need to care for my husband and find work that will allow me to bring food home."

Chase began to panic. Ellen was expecting her first child and had nothing.

"She's pregnant; aren't you concerned about the fetus as well?"

Rowena exhaled deeply. "I'm at a loss for words, Cheese. If I have to welcome a baby into this house, I'm not thrilled. We're already struggling; having a baby will only make things worse—"

Chase phone rang and displayed Aidan's name.

"I apologize, Rowena. It appears that I will have to return to work soon. Someone from the office has contacted me."

Rowena forced a smile because she didn't have any more time to tell Chase the story. Rowena, on the other hand, should have heeded Ellen's advice not to trust strangers. Rowena had no idea Chase was wreaking havoc on her family if she found out more. The elderly lady was indeed very innocent.

"I'll excuse myself.  Thank you for your meal and explanation."

"You are most welcome."

Rowena had planned to stand up to accompany Chase, but the man quickly stopped her. "I can walk by myself.  You may resume your work, Rowena. I'll see you later."

After making sure he was out of Rowena's sight and getting Aidan's call, Chase got in his car.

"Sir, didn't you come in this morning?"

In response to Aidan's question, Chase commanded, "Find that woman ASAP!"

"W-what? Sir, which woman?"

"That lady! Ellen!"

"Was that the woman you slept with, sir?"

"Oh, Aidan, I'm sorry. You are not required to go into greater detail."

"I apologize, sir for being so curios why you want me to find that woman ASAP."

"Find Ellen and make certain that no one else learns about her condition. Look for  her in and keep it secret to anyone   especially my Grandfather ."

"All right, sir. But can you tell me why? What exactly are you looking for—"

"She's pregnant! Stop asking questions and go find her!"

Aidan didn't ask again, and Chase hung up quickly. Chase rubbed his irritated brow. "She's carrying my child, right?"

***

Ellen had no choice but ask for an assistance from Jemarie, her friend who works at a fast food restaurant. The man lived in a very small flat at a significantly lower cost. Ellen had no one else to turn to for assistance besides Jemarie. So now she's sharing a bed with Jemarie's lover.

Actually, Jemarie's lover was so upset by Ellen's arrival that she refused to speak to her at all. Ellen, who was feeling uneasy, decided to go for a walk without knowing where she was going. Ellen was supposed to have dinner at Jemarie's, but she wasn't feeling well. Ellen's presence was clearly opposed by Jemarie and his girlfriend.

"Oh my goodness, I'm starving.  It's late, but I haven't had anything to eat."

Ellen walked further and further in the middle of the night, unsure of how to get back to Jemarie's flat. When she noticed a group of men approaching her, she became extremely confused and panicked. Ellen had taken the wrong path. If she was still there, she might get in trouble. So Ellen's legs began to be ordered by her brain to run. She was quickly defeated by the legs of the men who looked at her with disgust.

"Hello, Miss! Do you work by yourself? Did you walk towards us and pretend to run to attract our attention?"

One of the men touch up against Ellen face and said something impolite.

"Come with us, Miss. You may stand on top of me or spread your legs beneath me. "Ha, ha, ha."

Ellen counted the men who surrounded her and discovered that there were four in total. How could Ellen escape from these men when she was so encircled by them?

"Why are you so quiet, honey? Are you a shy person? There's no need to be embarrassed because we'll satisfy you—"

"Let go of me, you jerk!" exclaimed Ellen. She forced herself to be more daring.

"Ha ha ha ha. You can talk, can you? Your voice is so lovely, honey. I'm sure your sigh will get us even more excited."

The longer she try to fight back to them, the more impolite and vulgar the men's words became. Ellen was restrained and forced to turn around. Ellen began to cry and scream as her pants were forcibly removed.

"Nooo!"

Ellen had no idea what was in store for her.  When she closed her eyes and felt nothing, she was perplexed. Someone locked her hands, and she felt her pants being lifted. Ellen was taken aback when she heard a familiar male voice whispering to her.

"You can only be touched by me, Ellen."
