Chapter 7 Pregnant?

Two months later, Ellen finally fell as well. She had pushed herself until her body signaled her to stop. Ellen struggled to take all the part-time jobs from morning to night after being fired from her job at the hotel, even when she returned home early. Ellen's body was now feverish.

"Eat, Ellen, I made you some hot soup to make you feel better." Rowena served her daughter a bowl of soup.

"Thank you very much, Mom."

Rowena simply nodded and exited Ellen's room. She came to a halt, however, when she heard Ellen run to the bathroom and vomit up her guts. Ellen didn't have to leave the room because there was a private bathroom. Rowena was grateful that she still had a place to live because the relic house was still very useful.

"Are you okay?" Rowena inquired, seeing her daughter's frail condition.

Ellen could only shake her head, but Rowena didn't understand what her daughter meant.

"You're shaking your head to indicate whether you're okay or not, Ellen."

Ellen couldn't respond quickly because she was feeling ill. His body appeared to be compelled to vomit, but nothing came out. Ellen's stomach seemed to have been drained, but the nausea remained.

"Mother… I'm feeling extremely sick."

Rowena was understandably concerned about her daughter's condition. "Ellen, you should eat and then rest. I'll assist you in eating."

"I'm afraid I can't, Mother. I'm unable to eat anything."

Rowena looked at Ellen, puzzled. "What exactly do you mean? Ellen, you must eat."

"When I smell the food, I get dizzy and nauseous."

Rowena's only thought was that her daughter's condition was too serious and that they should go to the hospital as soon as possible.

"We may need to go to the hospital. You can't keep going like this."

That's when Ellise went into her sister's room to look for her mother. "Why are you so busy with a grown woman like her?"

"Oh my goodness, Ellise! Isn't it possible for you to be better when your sister is sick like this?"

Ellise didn't take her mother's words well, instead looking suspiciously at. "Didn't you use any kind of defense while serving those old, fat men?"

Rowena's eyes widened as she heard Ellise sadistic words.

"Ellise that's enough!"

"Listen to me, Mother. This is not the typical symptom. The pain symptoms are identical to those of a pregnant woman! I'm pretty sure she's expecting a son of a bitch."

"Ellise has had it! Your words are far too harsh! Mother will not—"

"Mom should have trusted me! I'm not a dumb kid. I am well aware that I have an older sister who sells her body on the internet!"

Rowena slapped Ellise on the cheek without hesitation; she was already talking excitedly. The room fell silent instantly. The commotion, which at first hurt my ears, has now turned into a tense atmosphere.

Ellen felt terrible for making Ellise relationship with Rowena even more tumultuous. Ellen was repeatedly defended by Rowena, and Ellise did not get what she desired.

"Go! I don't want to be angry with you, Ellise."

Ellise just looked at her mother, disappointed, and cast a hateful glare at Ellen, who was still very weak.

"Don't do it again, Mother. Ellise must be extremely dissatisfied with you."

Rowena first took a deep breath to calm herself down. "Don't even consider anything else. You must first concentrate on improving. I'll speak with Ellise after she's calmed down. Talking to her at this point only encourages her to speak harshly."

Ellen, who was feeling weaker, nearly fell when she attempted to get up from the toilet. Fortunately, Rowena moved quickly to assist Ellen in getting up and walking properly to the bed.

"I'll make you another meal."

"Mother, no. I'll make an attempt to finish the soup you made. I don't want to squander the food you prepared."

Rowena chose to nod and wait until Ellen's soup was finished. I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow, but Rowena thinks Ellise suspicions are just that: suspicions.

Ellen kept recalling her sister's words. Most likely, she was pregnant, and it wasn't as a result of serving old men, as Ellise had claimed. If Rebecca was indeed pregnant, the child in her womb was the result of her relationship with Chase that night. Ellen reflected on it again and remembered that the man was not wearing any protection. How should it be used? Ellen was terrified of being forced to drink with just the man.

"Oh my… What should I do if I am truly pregnant?" Ellen muttered.

She couldn't think of any way out right now. Her body was exhausted, and her head was spinning. Despite the fact that Ellen should not be absent from work in order to earn money.

When it comes to money, Aidan's gift has been used up for daily family needs. Rowena was never suspicious of the money Ellen gave her because the only way Ellen could get money was through her daily work. Ellen's head was spinning as she considered a way to earn money. Can she still force herself to work in this condition?

"I can't simply stay at home. I need to get to work!"

Ellen insisted on going to work. Ellen's dizziness was exacerbated by her decision to stay at home. Sickness is unpleasant, but not having enough money is even worse.

"Ellen? What are your plans?" Rowena talked of her daughter.

"I'm leaving, mom."

Rowena looked at Ellen, who was dressed as usual, puzzled. "Wait! Will you be working?"

Ellem responded with a nod. She couldn't say much right now.

"Ellen, don't push yourself. You're ill. Relax at home."

"No, mom, I have to work. There will be no money if I just lie in my bed."

"But, Ellen…"

"I can do it. Don't be worried about anything." Ellen was able to tie her shoes and stand. "Mom, I'll go first. Don't be worried, okay?"

Ellen was aware that her mother was concerned about her health, but this was the only option. Besides, Ellen needed to go to the pharmacy right away to get a pregnancy test and take it outside the house, so no one in her family found out. She needed money to determine for herself whether she was truly ill or pregnant with the child of the man she despised.

"Even if he was a wealthy man, I didn't think I'd be able to bear that baby. So, please assist me in avoiding a positive pregnancy test result later."

Ellen could only hope and had no way of knowing what would happen. The woman may wish not to conceive, but fate will lead her down the right path.

***

Chase considers himself fortunate because he has failed his mother's matchmaking experiment three times. Every time he tried to get to know the woman his mother had chosen, they all backed away without explaining anything to Chase. Chase believed that the woman his mother had chosen would easily accept the figure of Chase, who was born from the De Vera family.

"Oh my goodness, Chase! You've made three women say things I never would have thought of."

Hannah has never seen Chase's workspace appear in the most anarchic manner. Hannah's expressions suggested that all three of the chosen women's reasons for Chase were indeed the same. Unfortunately, Chase never found out why, because they were all too comfortable criticizing Hannah's matchmaking.

"What exactly are you saying, Mom? Could you please knock on my door first?" Chase objected because he disliked having his work interrupted.

Chase's assistant appeared with a regretful expression as the protest was directed at Hannah. "I was trying to say you were very busy, sir."

"Oh, I don't care how busy you are right now, Chase Dominique, I'm your mother!" Elena exclaimed angrily.

Aidan tried to calm Hannah down, but he couldn't because the only person who could was Chasep. Chase reluctantly ordered Aidan out of the room, leaving them alone.

"Mom, please take a seat first. Don't yell like that. Keep in mind that you are in my office."

"You're so irritating, Chase!  How can you be a boss if you have sentimental feelings!"

"What exactly do you mean, Mom?"

"Every woman I chose for you said she didn't want to compete with the women from your past!  They all know you still can't forget Sheena and have no intention of opening one of your heart's doors for another woman to fix!"

Chase sighed and said to his mother, "I really don't want to date anyone, Mom.  I've said it many times, but you refuse to listen."

"I'm aware of it! But, Chase, I don't believe you're more sensitive than a woman. Why do you so easily reveal your past to all the women vying for Sheena's heart?!"

"I had no idea I had said it. Yes, I believe I consumed an excessive amount of the wine served at that restaurant. I wouldn't have mentioned my love affair with Sheena if I hadn't been drunk."

Hannah rubbed her irritated brow. She couldn't believe Chase would refuse in this manner. It wasn't Chase who was preoccupied with getting rid of the women Hannah chose, but all the women who chose to leave because they didn't want to live with a man who couldn't move on from his failed love story.

"Chase... why can't you work with me on this?" Chase, I love you so much. I don't want your grandfather to do something that none of us could have predicted. We will live in peace if you obey."

Chase's head shook. He looked at Hannah, and his jaw tightened from the emotion that had just come over him. "Mom, you don't really love me. You simply adore the easy life you've led thus far. You don't want to lose the treasure you've amassed without working hard."

"Not! Chase, you're mistaken! I adore you even more—"

"Stop! I am so tired of all your lies, Mom!" Chase exclaimed.

"No, please Chase. First listen to me, then to your mother, this is for your own sake not mine!" Hannah refused to budge.

"No, Mom. You must pay attention to what I say!" Chase yelled even louder.

The employees on Chase's floor must have been discussing the fight. Chase, unfortunately, no longer cares. Chase expected Elena to pay close attention to what he had to say.

"Mom, I don't want to end up like my father. I don't want to end my life because I'm depressed, unhappy, and nothing more than a puppet for Thomas! If I have to be a puppet for him, it's not part of my love story. I don't want to go home, where I won't be able to express my concerns and fears. A woman who doesn't love me and whom I do not love will only make me more irritable at home. I don't want to raise a child who has a shattered mind! I don't want my son to be as devastated as I was by the death of his father!"

Nobody knew Chase had been through so much pain inside that he kept hiding for years. Chase may appear to be tough on the outside, but he's just a kid who can't get over his fears. Trauma had made him distrustful of everyone. For the first time in his family, he feels pain for the first time. Chase secretly plans to be a wonderful and healthy father to his son in the future. He doesn't want to be a mentally ill father who causes new trauma for his children. Chase wished to break the chain only in himself, not in the children who inherited his blood.

"What do you think, Chase? Your words have hurt me."

"You forced me to say it, Mom.  You're the one who forced me to show my pitiful side!"

Hannah sobbed in front of Chase, but Chase's sympathy had faded by this point. What the man was thinking right now was that his mother was too pushy and wanted Chase to be like his father. Although it was only in Chase's mind, Hannah's cry had no effect on Chase's heart.

"Would you be content if we were kicked out of this family rather than sacrifice your feelings?  Is love truly worth the life as De Vera has worked so hard to create?"Hannah spoke through her tears.

Chase sighed tiredly, ruffling his hair. "Please get out of my sight for now , before I lose all my temper Mom. Don't say anything else before my words hurt you even more."

Hannah laughed. "You're even kicking me out Chase, haven't you forgotten I am still your mother. You believe you can only be born from your father, don't you? You don't consider me to be your mother."

"Stop talking nonsense, Mom!"

Chase's yell catches Hannah off guard. They locked gazes for a moment, and Chase saw no affection in Hannah's eyes. Chase didn't think of her as his mother because there was no love comparable to what Chase's father gave him.

"Mom, get out of my room!"

Hannah couldn't do anything else. This squabble will demonstrate to the employees that their relationship as children and mothers is not going well. Following this, there must have been a lot of rumors about Chase De Vera's relationship and his mother are not good, who couldn't stop yelling at each other in the office.
