Chapter 17

Adrians POV

Callie jumped at me, ready to tear my throat out. Luckily I was quick enough to catch her, wrapping my arms around her tightly and she pounded onto my chest. She tried reaching up but her arms were stuck between our chests.

"I'll kill you! Let go of me!" She screamed, her eyes consumed with black. Her wolf was out, and it had a thirst for blood.

"Callie! I would never do this! He's my son! Why on Earth would I kill him!" I yelled back, trying to keep my tears at bay. Everyone had ran in by this point, Theo went over to Trevor while Skylar assessed the situation. Kyle pulled Callie away, holding her tightly to his chest where she began to sob, dropping down to her knees.

"W-What happened?" Skylar said softly, picking up Paytons hand and gently holding it in hers.

"He killed Payton, I saw him do it." Trevor cried, pointing his finger once again at me. My eyes widen in shock once again, and my heart ached. Everyone turned to me, all stepping back and a glare forming on their faces. Part of me knew they'd react like this, I was accused before, why would they believe me now.

Skylar continued to glare but walked over to Trevor, bending down to his height she looked at him sadly.

"Trevor why do you say it was your Dad? Are you sure?" Trevor nodded vigorously, wiping away tears as he did so. I wanted to comfort my son in his time of need, but knew best than to make one move.

"I-I saw him put something in that bag." He explained, pointing to a bag filled with clear liquid, which was connected to Payton.

"Why did you do it. I thought you loved them. But you didn't did you, you just wanted to get rid of them." Callie whimpered, not even bothering to look up at me. I took a step forward and flinched when both Theo and Kyle growled. Hanging my head down, I took a step back.

"Callie, I didn't do this to our son-"

"My son! He's not your son! You don't deserve to be a father! You're just a murder!" She screamed before storming out of the room, Kyle picking up Trevor and walking out as well.

"Theo you have to believe me! I would never do this! Please!" I pleaded for him to listen, to remember that I'm his best friend and he knew me better than that.

"We don't have any physical proof..." Theo trailed off, looking over to his mother. She looked over at him, then back to me. Walking forward she looked up at me, glaring.

"Theo search him." She said before turning and walking to the other side of the room. I stood in shock but let Theo come closer. I had nothing to hide, I didn't kill my so-

"Whats this?" Theo asked, pulling out a syringe from my back pocket. I stood in shock as I looked at the item.

"That's not mine!" I yelled, confused as to where that came from. Theo glared at me, stepping back before Skylar came forward once again.

"Adrian Cavil, you are to be tried for the murder of my grandson. Worst punshiment, death." She spoke harshly before storming off, soon guards ran into the room and began to drag me away.

"Theo I didn't do this! I was framed you have to believe me!" I screamed, but it fell upon deaf ears, no one would believe me. No one ever did.

It smelled of death, blood and sweat. The dungeons were extremely cold, and wet. I sat in the corner of my cell, my head hanging with my arms resting on my knees. I didn't do this, why on earth would I hurt my own son. I love them both with all my heart. I could never do this.

When the guards dragged me down to the cells, they made sure that we passed the pack members, where I could see all the hateful looks they sent my way. I've now been down here for a few hours, only Sky coming in trying to get answers as to why I killed Payton. I didn't. Thats all that I continued to tell her, but she wouldn't believe me.

As time went by, my head was clouded over the short moments I had spent with Payton. He didn't deserve this. He was too young. He hadn't lived a full life, and now he never will.

Someone framed me. I didn't know who it was, but I was going to try and find out. Though what good will that do if I'm stuck behind these bars.

That thought was short-lived once I heard a jingle and watched as a figure opened the cells door. I couldn't see the persons face and their scent was hidden. I growled dangerously.

"Come any closer and I'll rip you to shreds." I spat, but my eyes widened once I saw who was underneath the hoodie.

"Dad?"

"No time to explain, we need to get out of here!" He said hurriedly, grabbing my hand and pulling me out. I flinched at the touch but followed suit. Once I got out, I'll yell, but right now, I needed this escape.

As we came up too two hallways to go through, I was about to go to the left, where I know the exit was, but he made us turn down the right one. I was confused but didn't question. We ran blindly in the dark for a few minutes but soon saw a bright light. We ran towards it and I saw that it was another door that was open and it led into the woods. I stopped, starring at the door. How have I never seen this, I've been through all of these hallways before.

"Come on!" He whisper/yelled. I shook my head from the daze and ran out the door, the afternoon light blinding me for a moment. It took a few seconds to see once again, but once I regained my eye sight I ran after him. Then we heard the sirens, they knew that I was gone. We ran as fast as our feet could carry us, already hearing the howls of wolves chasing after us.

We ran past the pack borderlands, a few following us. I soon heard loud crashes of water, telling me where we were.

"Jump!" He yelled and jumped off the cliff into the water below. I hesitated and looked back, finding the wolves almost near me. I jumped just in time before one could catch me. I yelled, before hitting the water. My lungs burned as I sank to the bottom, needing the relief feeling of oxygen. I pushed up and swam as fast as possible before finally resurfacing, taking in large gulps of air. I looked up and noticed the wolves were gone. Looking around I watched as he climbed out of the water, sitting down and catching his breath. I walked out of the water, exhausted but my anger fueled me to continue.

"I'm getting way to old for this crap." He gasped; looking down at the ground.

"What the fuck are you doing here!" I yelled, causing him too look up at me.

"You know you could say thank you-"

"Oh spare me the lecture! Why are you here!"

"To save your stupid ass! I know who killed Payton!" He yelled, immediately grabbing my attention.

"Who is it?" I asked, needing to know the name of the bastard that was going to die once I got my hands on them.

"Follow me. Its not safe out here." He mumbled, walking further into the woods. I followed after him, keeping a good distance between us. We walked for what felt like hours, before we finally made it to a small cabin in the middle of the forrest. I looked at it curiously and watched him walk in. I followed after a few minutes of staring at the small wooden house. It was night time now, and it was freezing, so I was actually glad to walk in.

I immediately noticed the warm fire place right in the middle of the room. Walking over to it, I stuck my hands out, trying to get feeling back in them. My clothes were still a bit wet, causing me to shake.

"Here." He said, handing me a pair of new clothes. I took them hesitantly and walked to the door he pointed to. It looked to be a spare bedroom. It was small, but it looked very inviting. I quickly changed into the new warm clothes before putting my wet clothes over a chair in the room. I walked out and saw him pouring boiling water into mugs.

"Hot chocolate, you still take three sugars with milk correct?" He asked, not bothering to look up. I nodded, and he must have seen it cause he put it in. I couldn't believe he remembered that, I hadn't had hot chocolate since I was about fifteen. He mixed it before pushing it forward for me to take. I looked down at it, glaring slightly.

"I didn't poison it boy. If I really wanted to kill you, I would have let those wolves catch you." He shrugged, grabbing his own mug and went to sit by a single seater couch.

I took the mug reluctantly and took a hesitant sip. I smiled in relief as the warmth from the liquid travelled through my body.

"Sit we need to talk." He stated, pointing to a couch across from him. I took a seat and looked at him.

"Now I know you have many questions, and I'll answer them but first I want to say sorry." He said, I was about to speak, all the memories hitting me full force, causing my anger to rise.

"Don't even try it. I'm talking now." He said, a stern look on his face. I sat back in the couch, a glare formed.

"I was never the perfect father, I made very big mistakes when it came to you. After your mother left me, I blammed myself because I thought I wasn't enough for her, I thought I wasn't man enough for her. And when she left you, I promised myself that I'd turn you into the most respected Alpha in the world, so that, when the time came, your mate wouldn't think twice of leaving you. I realised my mistakes when I noticed how you would flinch away from everyone, I hurt you in the worst ways possible, and I'm truly sorry Adrian. I know what you did with your mate, and again I'm sorry I caused this. You could have been happy with her, and then none of this would have happened. If it wasn't all planned." He mumbled the last part to himself but I heard him.

"What do you mean planned?" I asked, he sighed before standing up, walking towards the middle of the cabin. He lifted a carpet off the floor, and underneath it was a trap door. He opened it and climbed down. I followed after him, careful to keep my guard on high alert. He may have apologised, not that I forgive him, but he could still be planning something.

I landed on the ground with a loud thump, looking around it was dark but I could see where everything was. There was a large table in the middle, papers everywhere, bookshelves against the wall, all filled up. He flipped a switch and a big light went on, right above the table.

"What is this place?" I asked, looking through all the rows of books.

"No time for that, now come here." He said, standing on the otherside of the big table. Looking over, I saw that it was basically a map of the pack lands.

"How do you have all of this? What is going on?" I asked, feeling my head begin to hurt as I looked over all the papers in front of me. Sighing he began to explain it all, and as he did, everything began to fall into place.

It all made sense now. It was planned from the beginning. And now they will pay.
