3. New World

Angelina Roscoe's POV

I didn't know where I was, I didn't know if I was even alive after that accident. I knew what happened and I was no fool to hope to be alive. But this place, it looks normal like I was in some random park.

People around me looked normal but their behavior was not normal. Some were walking, some were sitting around but no one was actually talking. As if those people didn't know each other and they were absorbed in their thoughts.

I felt lost. I wanted to ask someone about the place but no one looked at me or even acknowledged me.

"Hello, dear." I heard a voice behind me.

Thank God someone noticed me!

"Hey, Thank God, you are talking to me. I don't know what's wrong with others." I looked around and those people were doing what they had been doing.

"Nothing is wrong with them. It takes some time for the souls to accept the fact that they are no longer alive."

"Am... Am I dead? And is this heaven?" I knew the answer but I wasn't ready to face it.

"Yes sweetie, you are dead, and no, you are not in heaven." I looked at her when she said that it wasn't heaven like really looked at her. She had a beautiful face and perfectly tanned skin but that's not the thing that caught my eyes. There was something like she was glowing or radiating some lights.

"Are you an angel?" That's the only thing I could think of that time.

"No but close and I am very happy for you." I raised my brows at her.

Was she mad before she died?

"You are happy because I... died?" It was getting uncomfortable.

"We all have to die one day but not all of us gets the chance that you are going to have." She smiled at me kindly. I was confused because I was not good at puzzles. I was a cut straight businesswomen.

"What chance?"

"Did you ever hear about the spawns of the devil? Humans use it as a curse." She said it casually but I was horrified. She turned and started walking.

"Am I going to be one?!" I followed her but couldn't hide the panic in my voice.

"No! Angels too need their spawns and you are selected to be one." I sighed in relief. The whole situation was very confusing.

"Spawn of Angel?" I dwelled with the phrase as I had never heard anything like this ever!

"Yesss! And a chance to get revenge."

Say what!

"Revenge! What revenge?"

Why would I seek revenge? I took care of my enemies when I was alive.

"Revenge of your murder." That time the world stopped for me. Though I was already dead and world meant nothing to me but yeah I was in shock.

"I was murdered." I took time to settle with the fact. After that suddenly an overwhelming rage surrounded me. I started to see red.

"Who was it?" I asked the woman in a voice that was unknown to me.

"The rage of the soul, You need to learn how to control it." She shook her head.

Was that pity I see?

"Who was it!" I asked in a feral voice, ready to attack.

"I know how it feels. I was murdered too. I also felt the same rage in fact all the souls who were murdered felt the same rage to finish their murderer but you know what's sad? We can't do anything. We have to calm ourselves so that we can avenge our death. Not everyone is lucky like you."

I wasn't up for her lecture. "Just tell me, who was it? I will finish him in a second!"

"You can't. You won't be able to even touch him. Before that, you will be caught by the underworld devils and will be sent to hell forever. We are not allowed to hurt anyone. So, listen to me and calm down." Something was in her voice that made my anger slipping away.

"I am calm now. So, give me the name."

"You are not actually calm. I will give you some time. Someone is waiting for you. You should talk to him." She smiled kindly and went away.

I was done with the shock and surprises but it seemed like they weren't done with me. Who wanted to talk? It's not like I knew someone here not until someone I knew recently died.

Roman?!

As horrifying as the thought was but it made sense. Whoever killed me, he could go after Roman and kill him too. Was he dead?

Oh, God! No!

"Lina." someone came in front of me and my eyes widen.

"Smith." I completely forgot about him. Of course, he too didn't live. My driver and I didn't make it. "I am so sorry, Smith."

"Don't say sorry. It was my time to die. I am not sad as I had a happy life. I know you are going to stay here longer. So, I want to request something." He smiled at me kindly. My eyes pricked with tears. I didn't deserve such warm behavior.

"Anything Smith."

"Just take care of my family a little bit. My kids are teenagers and I know my wife can manage but the extra security is not bad."

I felt so guilty. He died because of me then I forgot about him and he was requesting me to take care of his family. "You don't have to say it, Smith. They will lead a good life. I promise you that."

"Thank you. You helped me a lot when I was working for you. I am great full and I am relieved. Now I can go without any grief and without any ties binding me."

"Where will you go?"

"The Afterlife is calling me, Goodbye." He gave me his last smile and walked away towards the darker part of that place. It was magnificent but terrifying. One can't notice it but can't ignore it either. It felt like the night there, big trees making it darker. The sky was dark but a green hue was spread all over the sky and it lighted up that place a little bit.

I saw Smith walking into the forest. If he went a bit deeper then I wouldn't see him. I wondered how he would walk in there as it was dark. But something happened. Fireflies started to come out and surrounded him. They provided him lightly to go ahead. Thousands of fireflies leading him to the afterlife was a beautiful terrific scene.

I felt a pull as if something was attached to my body and someone was pulling me. The longer I looked at the forest, the harder that pull became.

"Resist it, Angelina. If you give into it then you have to go afterlife."

I closed my eyes and resisted the urge. Trying to calm my nerves but then I was a soul and I didn't have any nerve.

I opened my eyes and looked at her, "What was that?"

"We souls belongs to the afterlife but for certain reasons, few of us needed to be here. That's why we feel that pull. Don't look at the forest longer and don't think much about it. You will be fine." She sounded like she had a lot of experience. Maybe she did, I couldn't even imagine how many years she had been there.

"So, what now? Are you going to tell me who it was and what I have to do?" I was very calm after talking to Smith.

"As a spawn of Angel, you will be given some duties and you have to do it perfectly like I am doing my duties here. You need some time to know how these things work but I know you will be fine. You were interested in things like this." She became cheerful as soon as she started talking about her duties. She really loved whatever she was doing.

" How do I know about my duties. Like will I get some call or telepathy something?" she laughed at my running high imagination.

"You will just know. There is no telepathy or call system. Your powers will let you know."

"So, who is it? I need to get a name to take revenge."

"Just look down. You will see the earth and who is doing what. Your culprit is enjoying despite a death happened in the family." Her voice was grim. Maybe she remembered her culprit. But I was not ready for the answer she gave me. Unexpectedly it hurt.

"My murderer is in my family!"
