Chapter 13

We got to May’s House. I missed everything, the scent of flowers, the cool sweet and calming air and mostly the smell from the kitchen even though there was none then.

“Okay! Let’s settle down while I go make us something to eat” Mrs. Silver said and made for the kitchen.

“If you are not humans then why do you have to eat or even eat at all?” Amy asked.

“We learned how to eat what you eat so it won’t all be abnormal and out of the ordinary. Men will get scared and afraid. You are always afraid and try to subdue to your own command what you don’t understand” Mr. Silver said.

“What do you or did you eat then?” I asked out of curiosity.

“That will be in the story” He said. He could just tell me. “Who said we even had to eat anything?” He asked sarcastically.

“Just curios” Amy answered.

Soon there was that sweet aroma from the kitchen. You could get filled up and not be anymore just by taking in the sweet smelling savor or Mrs. Silver’s kitchen; well you could but me; I have to eat no matter what and don’t just me I am no glutton I just love to eat.

“Lunch is almost ready” Mrs. Silver shouted from the kitchen so everyone will here and probably get their stomachs ready for the incoming; at least that’s what I thought.

Lunch was served; we ate and were ready for the rest of the story. A good story deserves a good meal and it is not healthy to freak out on an empty stomach you need something to puke out when the need comes.

“How come you looked just the same as you did when you first came here as newly married couples?” Mum finally said something since we got here. She has gone through so much already to raise me and now this blip happened. Our lives was going another direction; we said we were ready for it but really we weren’t no one can be ready for this kind of detour in life; when everything changes and all you have believed and learned to live by becomes vague and insignificant. We all just witnessed me get healed by someone we thought was human; I guess she was still in shock from the transfiguration of the Silvers. I looked at her; she was pale looking surprised and confused. This was hard for everyone to accept but it seemed hardest for Mum than for me and Amy.

“We have the ability to hide our real appearances. We never actual grow old. We just create an illusion about ourselves,; something like a cover identity for who and what we truly look like. I bet it would be more awkward if since we came we still looked like that and everyone after ten years or so will get crazy and start to ask questions we shouldn’t answers. So this is good and very necessary to keep the balance in belief and perception of the world and life itself. What we are telling and showing to you can never go out to anyone; understood?” he asked with the palest of numbest I have ever seen.

“Yes!” I said. I looked at Amy and then at Mum and they gave me just the looks I needed or that Mr. Silver needed.

“How old are you really?” Mum asked again. We all looked at her surprised at the sudden outburst of awkward questions.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” She asked. “If this is changing all I have ever known then I need to know what I feel is right to know Okay?” Mum had a smile forcing its way out of her face. She was getting the hang of everything.

“Mum!” I called for her attention. “You are unbelievable”

“Yes Liam! All of this is unbelievable and absolutely insane so I have to be insane to match and be able to accept it. I advice you do the same” She pointed. Everyone was quiet and then Amy burst into laughter; we; looked her way.

“What is wrong with you” I asked directing my eyes to Amy.

“I never thought your mum could be this silly; no offense please” She said amidst the laughter.

“I guess only abnormal brings all the silliness lucked up inside you. To connect with the weird you need to be weird too, right?” I said.

“YEP!” Everyone including May’s parents chanted.

“We need drinks for this” Mrs. Silver suggested.

“We sure do” Mum agreed and Mrs. Silver went to get the drinks. No one and not even Mr. Silver protested against underage drinking. They all agreed we drink.

“To tap into the higher realms of knowledge one needs to be high” Mum said. She was finally coming relating to all of this; she really is a strong woman

“Here we go” Mrs. Silver said sharing the drinks all round.

She brought five to us and went back to get extra as it seemed. I have always had a slippery relationship with alcohol and this was not really a good idea but I went with the flow of things.

Mrs. Silver came back with five more drinks and sat over where she was sitting before the idea for drinking popped out of thin air.

“You are having all of that?” Amy asked eyes wide opened.

“No you take one” she said and Amy stood up to get her extra from her. “That wouldn’t be necessary anymore sit down” Mrs. Silver said to Amy and then to all of me and mum with her eyes though. I guess you can distribute one sentence to a lot of people with your eyes directed towards them and they’d just get it ‘cause we did get it.

“Take that” Mrs. Silver said and held out one of the drinks and literally blew it to Amy. Before the drink moved in the air to Amy her eyes turned white and glowed just like May’s.

“What the fuck!” Mum Shouted. “You can do that?” She asked. Mum was almost done with her first round of drink before we even started with ours and was already high.

“Yes we can move things without having to touch them” Mrs. Silver said.

“woooo! Thaaat iiiiss cooool!” I said dragging every word I pronounced.

This was great; everyone especially mum is having fun. I guess it would be more interesting if our minds were a little bit blipped from our normal way of thinking; by that I meant if we were high just in case you were wondering.

“Story time!” Mr. Silver reminded us we had a story to listen to.

“Okay! We are all ears” Mum said slumming back into the chair she was sitting; she was holding the empty bottle of the drink she had.

“Okay” Mr. Silver said. “Years went by and Russev’s and Regina’s workers deserted them and soon it was just them but they did not give up. They had gathered up enough knowledge or what they thought was enough to just give up on. At that time they were researching on a Chinese king relic for eternal life. Rumors said it could make you young again when to take it; that is, the portion he had his sorcerers make for him had the ability to regenerate the cells in one’s body making you young again, taking away all the wrinkles and blemishes that come alongside aging from you. They continued the research alone until they found out that the king had a secret passage that led from his chamber to an underground tomb that he kept secret and important things which includes the portion they were looking for.

They went to visit the king with gifts of all kinds but unknowing to the king they put a tracker in the gifts because they knew that he would want to keep it safe and in his tomb of treasures and dark secrets. You might be wondering what a tracker is doing at that time; there was no technological advancements as at that time; Russev and Regina had scientists build something that could tell their whereabouts and they could their selves with when they get lost; they knew they would have to go underground and in caves and in a lot if dangerous places. It wasn’t a tracker per say but it does track as in when both devices are on, they could find their selves using a map so it isn’t really a tracker but the advancements of today came from that research. The king was powerful and known to have some mystical powers and connections that could give him strength, speed and rejuvenate him. Rumors had it that he has lived for more than five hundred years and his children over time became older than he and even died but he was still alive so they feared him very much; but these two love birds were too ambitious, too zealous and determined to stop. “We have come a long way to stop now and we are so close, we can’t give up now” Regina said to Russev once when they decided to dress as palace cleaners to search for the secret passage into the tomb.

“Yes we can’t give up now! He told her. “If anything happens to me don’t stop. Promise me you’ll continue. We need this. Our baby needs this. Promise me Regina!

Yep! They had a baby coming and were embarking on a dangerous mission: stealing from the king. They sneaked into every part of the palace they could to avoid sight until they found the king’s chamber; it was kingly with the aura of majesty in every ounce of in the room. They searched everywhere but couldn’t find a way to go under the room into the secret passage. They heard footsteps and went into hiding. It was the king; He came in went straight to where they had been looking for. It wasn’t under but was in the wall. He went inside the tomb and the wall closed behind him. Rumor had it that he had all the builders and architects that built him the tomb hanged so no one could know about his tomb of treasure and secrets.

They followed him quietly hiding away and walking as silently as they could and laying each foot on the ground as though it was their heart.

“How come you know so much detail about this as though you were there?” Amy asked.

“Yea! How come?” I supported.

“I wasn’t” He said. “My grandfather is a good story teller” He answered.

“Okay! Go on” I urged him to continue. It was like a movie only you hear the voice and let your mind run wild with the pictures and moments.

“They followed the king into the where he kept gifts and treasures. It had dragon carvings on the wall and torches on the wall burning to give light. He walked past the pile of gold, silver plates, precious stones and all that glittered and dazzled the eye. He just paused and looked at his pile of loot and then walked to the wall and just stood there; you could wander what he was admiring on the wall when all the treasures were behind him. He pushed the eye of the dragon on that part of the wall and the wall split in two and he walked through and out of sight. Russev and Regina saw what he did and laid it to heart to do the same after giving him a moment to go away farther into where he was that is if he was going any deeper since they had followed him for hours and the sun had surely gone down by now. They had him say some things in Chinese, there was a gentle quake through the walls and silence for a moment; then another voice more fuller sounding like it was from something or someone bigger said something in Chinese again and the king’s voice replied and everywhere was silent again. The wall split open again after sometime and the king came out stretched as one who had a warm bath and a nice meal would just before sleep feeling refreshed. Everyone thought the king had an elixir he regularly took to keep him strong and young to selfishly rule his empire, but what Russev and Regina found in there was what changed their lives and affected ours until now. After the king was gone and all signs of his presence was gone they came out of hiding.

“I thought no one was here with him” Regina said “Who was that then?

“I don’t know but we will soon find out” Russev said.

They pushed the same eye the king pushed into the wall and it split open like earlier; they walked into the room that was before them and the wall closed behind them. It was dark and creepy; they could see anything. Russev put on a torch light he had in his bag so they could see what was in the place where they were. There was this big statue of three people sitting together in front of them and a lot of writings on the wall. Since they couldn’t speak Chinese they couldn’t say what the king said so the second party which in their case would have been third would come out of wherever he was. They were in China and the tomb was for a Chinese king but the amongst the writing on the wall, Russev could pick up German and so could Regina read some French and Latin inscriptions; she could also speak French and a little of German; that was how they met and got attracted to each other; Regina as a French woman spoke to Russev in German and he Responded in French.

“You delight in variety?” She asked in English. “You travel a lot and pick interest in other cultures?

“Yes I do, inquisitive adventurer! You too are versatile, I can see” He answered.

“You my dear are a wonder I will want to discover and understand and the only way to do that is to gain closure with you if you allow it only”

“I’d like to see you try then!” She said, blew her fan over her face and walked off living him behind. He followed. There and then the fell for each other and never left each other’s sight.

They were both in their early twenties then. They talked and went out for walks a lot.

“I hate to imagine that one day we would be one of those pictures in the gallery of our ancestors” Russev said to Regina once on one of their walks to the garden east from his father’s castle. “I don’t want this to end. I want to love you forever”

“Me too” she said holding his hangs and they pulled each other in for a hug.

“Maybe there is something we can do stay together forever”

“What is that?” He asked.

“During one of our visits to my grandmother’s Museum I stumbled upon a secret room that had an artifact that said something about elixirs and the possibilities of eternal life or immortality as some may call it” She said. “Maybe we could check it out and see if we can verify any of those as facts or just stories; what do you say?

“I’m okay with it as long as you’re with me; I want to spend every minute of my life with you” He said pulling out of their hug, holding her hands and looking at her face admiringly.

“I thought you would see the adventure in this instead you are looking at me like that” She said trying to escape what she knew she couldn’t and hiding the fact that she wants to kiss him too more than ever.

“You’re face is a wonder and your heart an adventure I will love to wander and explore my whole life” He said holding her hands more slightly tighter. He had a way with words that always melted her walls and defenses and she had those eyes that made lose all focus and awareness to the world around every time he looked at them. I would say they were what you will call perfect; they understood what the other wanted to do or say and sometime say or do it before the other.

They went to Regina’s grandmother’s Museum and found the scrolls just as she had said earlier. It had some records of where you could find some other books and relics from other people of such desire that couldn’t finish until they became too old to continue.

“We do this together!” Russev said to Regina.

“Yes together!” she said. They hugged and rubbed dust on each other’s clothes and laughed realizing they had dust on each other’s clothes.

That was the beginning of their crazy and insane adventure that led them to the China and into this tomb they were in.
