CHAPTER 8: WEIRD

CHAPTER 8:

I am standing in front of my glass wall inside my room. Hoping to find him somewhere in the corners of the underworld.

“Are you looking for someone?”I heard Sisa’s voice.

“No, I was just checking the place.” I turned around to face her.

“That is not what I have seen. You look like you were looking for someone else.” She even walk towards the wall to see what I have been watching.

“Oh, there he is!” she shouted.

I immediately stood beside her and glance at the place ahe has been staring at.

“See? I am right!” She laughed out loud.

“Come on, there is nothing wrong with having a crush or loving someone. You are already five thousand years old… I mean twenty.” She even laughed harder this time.

“I hate you.” I pouted my lips after.

“Come on! You need to have a life.” She said as she sits beside me.

“I saw him last night. He was busy looking at the picture of his ex-girlfriend. He even cried. I know he is hurting,” I said.

“It’s time for you to make him forget about the girl.” She slowly caressed my head.

I turn my face to watch those souls passing and my brow immediately frowned when I saw him.

“I need to go.” I immediately disappeared in front of her.

“Hi!” I even offered him a bright smile when I appeared beside him who’s sitting on the bench.

“H-Hi!” he answered back. A little hesitant.

“I am sorry about yesterday. I guess I was too much exhausted that I opened up with you.” He looks at me.

“It’s okay. I like you, anyway!” I answered back without thinking twice.

“Y-you… what?” He unconsciously stood up and look at me.

“I said, I like you,” I repeated it for him. I even try to show him my sweetest smile.

“I just got here,” he said.

“Of course, you just died the other day,” I answered without blinking.

“You’re weird,” he mumbled.

“I am a demon,” I said. I don’t know but I cannot take my eyes off of him.

“Oh, God!” he mumbled.

Again a roaring sound of thunder!

He almost jumped out from the bench and moved towards me. A bit too close.

I think this is good. Should I call the thunder every now and then?

“Thunders here are scarier than in the human world.” He’s still beside me while he keeps on turning his head and looking around the place.

“That is because you keep on calling someone who does not belong here,” I answered simply. Trying to feel and taste the closeness we are in at the moment.

His right hand is still on my waist and and the other is gripping my right hand.

I cannot help it but to bit my lower lip or I’ll shout with glee.

“Good heavens,” she mutter.

Again a loud sound of thunder. It almost hit the ground in front of us.

“Oh, my God!” he shouted.

A louder sound of thunder this time.

“Stop it!” I loudly say.

As much as I am enjoying the moment. I cannot let him toast by by father’s brother.

I look at him but he stays in the same position. He was already embracing me.

“Oh… I- I am sorry.” He immediately move on the other side of the bench.

“I like it better when you are scared.” I smiled at him.

Should I call it again?

No, Hades will be furious.

“Let’s be friends.” I offered my other hand for a shake.

He stared at it for quite some time before taking a glance at my face.

I thought he would not accept it.

“Friends.” He accepted my hand and showed a smile.

I never thought that I could be a lot happier when he accepted my hand. I always think that going to the human world and buying all the stuff that you wanted are the happiest moment of my life.

But I still get furious with the book that he takes with him everywhere.

“Are you not done yet with your book?” I simply asked.

“This?” he asked as he showed me the book.

“It was a gift from my brother,” he answered as he kept the book inside his jacket pocket.

“I see.” I said.

Now I know why he chose the book to be kept with him.

Most of the souls here are keeping large amount of money. Gold bars and diamonds. Material things that they cannot let go. Hoping that they’d be able to use it in the after life. But once they were thrown in the burning pit, those things will be burned and melted.

A lot of souls in the field are keeping pictures. Pictures of the people they left behind. Most of them took their own life because of different reasons. Crying, missing, hating themselves from taking their life. Sometimes they can even hear the cries of their loved ones.

It was all part of the punishment that they have to endure.

“I can hear my mom cries everyday,” he said. I can see that he is hurting as his jaw moved a lot of times.

He’s been trying to conceal his true feelings at the moment.

“I am sorry if I cannot help you,” I said.

“It’s alright. Having someone who listens to your stupidity is more than enough,” he smiled bitterly as he watch the souls in the burning pit.

What was he thinking?

This is insane. Of all the souls here, why on earth that I cannot read his thoughts.

“Please don’t do anything stupid. Being here is already considered as stupidity so do not do anything more than that.” I said as I tap his shoulder.

“I was just thinking if those souls can still feel pain in their heart?” he asked without taking off his glances at the pit.

“No, they won’t be able to feel pain in their heart. Because those souls are heartless. They only care about money and fame when they were living. Losing those things made them mad. That is why they suffering the flames,” I answered.

“Do not even think about of jumping there. I won’t be able to help you anymore if you do.” I look at him just to see him looking at me too.
