CHAPTER 4: HADES

Hades is my father. I cannot deny that. It is a fact that I can never change, and I can never run away from it.B ut there is one thing that I have been thinking now and then. Is it necessary to be like my father, always? That is everything I do. I must imitate him and do what he used to do?

I know, I am the daughter of the God of the Underworld. The heiress of all evil. But I am still me, and I want to have my personality. I do not want to exist as his copycat.

Hades is a million years old. But because he is a deity, we believe that he just entered adulthood. Youg adult if I may say. I know it sounds unusual, but that is how it is.

His looks are slightly older than mine, but we mostly look like brothers and sisters than father and daughter. I look like I am twenty-five, and he seems like he is only thirty. Nobody knows his real face; no one has seen it except me. He could be in front of you without knowing. He changes his features the way he wants it. That is why a lot of souls here calls him “The Unseen.

He sometimes has a feature of an Asian. He loves to copy the face of an Egyptian. He sometimes comes to me with the beginning of an American. But one thing is for sure. I know if it is him or not. Everything changes around me every time he comes to me. Everything stops. I won’t be able to see anything moving. The air disappears, and the earth is halved with night and day. Especially when he meets me in the human world.

He often goes to the human world. He loves shopping. If only he could make an order from the underworld, he will probably ask someone to deliver it to him. But who would like to go down to show his order? If that is the case, people who have a business on deliveries might put up their branch in our world by now.

He mostly buys cars and stocks it in his parking lot in the underworld. He often has his car show and invites other demons all over the world.

He loves to show off his wealth. He goes everywhere and drove his car and sometimes left it anywhere he wants. I do not understand why he needs to buy cars when he can appear and disappear anywhere he wants. With just a flick of his finger, he could go wherever he wishes to go. He goes out today. He comes back a month after. He goes out as an Asian, he comes back as an Italian.

Sometimes I wonder if who is younger. Is it Hades or me? He plays a lot. Do not ask him to be mature because he won’t. Unless you want to burn yourself from his grip.

He loves women, but he hated the idea of having children with them. He says I am already enough. But who knows? He is a lier sometimes.

I have been in the human world for about a hundred times. With a bunch of devil security and monsters pretending to be human.

I always dreamed of going there alone. I tried to sneak a million times, but none of them is successful. How could I get through with the dog that always sleeps in the gate? Yes, he still sleeps, but the moment he smelled a demon, his eyes immediately flung open, and eats every soul that comes to him.

I wanted to argue with him more, but I hold myself when I saw him goes to his room and comes back after a split of a second wearing his brand new brown Jodhpur Boots, blue jeans, dark blue coat, and gray and black checkered scarf that is hanging around his neck.

Not to mention his new look and a new hairstyle. His hair is brushed up. People usually call it a pompadour hairstyle. I guess this is the one that is popularized by a singer named Elvis.

“D-Does your barber still alive?” I asked him, hoping to annoy him a little.

“Yes!” he answered and smiled a little.

“Who are you?” I asked again, a little frustrated by how he responded calmly.

“If you are trying to annoy me, it is not working,” he said.

He looked at me and gave me a smile that no woman can resist.

“Father,” I said as I followed him with my gaze.

“It’s Hades, sweetheart,” he answered calmly.

“You are my father,” I answered, holding myself from bursting a laugh.

“Okay, fine!” he loudly replied and looks at me in dismay.

“I won!” I said, and gave him a grin.

He does not want to be called father. He wants me to call him by his name if he is in the mood. Unless I made him mad, that is only the time he bombards me with his scriptures of being Hade’s daughter.

“Where are you going, Hades?” I asked him again.

“Somewhere you can not come,” he answered briefly.

“Are you going to heaven?” I asked once again.

I almost burst out my laugh when I saw him held his hand in front of me and draws out fire from his palm.

“It is not funny, Lucy!” He glares at me to give me a warning.

“Okay. I am sorry,” I said and bit my lower lip.

“I am telling you to do your job here. Stop pestering these demons around you,” Hades said and lift his both hands.

I watched how he changes the scenery of where we are staying. We were like in a massive park with a burning pit in the middle.

“Can’t you remove the pit?” I asked him while looking at it.

“Of course not. But I want you to toss more souls in there. Do you see those men standing there acting like visitors here? Seduce them and throw them there. I want to see them inside that burning pit when I get back.

Then he is gone, just like that. After giving me his commands, he is gone.
