LUCY

CHAPTER 1: HEIRESS

LUCY

Hades came out from his room like someone Lucy did not know. His looks are entirely a different person to what Lucy is already familiar with.

As soon as Hades left from their house, Lucy felt so excited. At last, she is alone again. She did not even bother to hide her smile.

“Are you ready?” she voiced it out loud.

“Yes, Madam,” a voice of a woman answered to her query.

She flicked her fingers, and her clothes change to something else that she was wearing a while ago.

She chose to wear white crochet flat sandals made with abaca that she bought once she visited the Philippines.

White off-shoulder long-sleeved blouse and an old rose cotton shorts with the belt that accentuated with gold bits.

“You look younger than your age.”

A woman in her thirties is slowly coming down from the stairs.

She genuinely smiled at me as she gave me my white shoulder bag.

“Of course, I should. I am already five thousand years old, and I don’t want to let people see that.” I pouted my lips after.

“My mistake, Madam.” She bowed down her head as she talks.

“I told you not to bow down at me.” I turned around to face her and gaze at her.

I do not like being bowed down. My father enjoyed it much to his content, but not me.

“Let’s go?” I held her hand, and at that moment, we disappeared.

“Now, this is better!” I mumbled as we appeared in an empty cubicle inside a female comfort room.

I pressed the flush so people would think that I did use the comfort room. It is what humans do.

As I walk out of the four-walled room, I already saw Sisa, my assistant, waiting for me just in front of the door.

“Did you just came out?” I asked without looking at her.

“Yes, Madam,” she answered without looking directly at me.

“Call me Lucy,” I said and pulled her hand as I walk out of the room.

She followed me quietly until we reached the department store of the mall we visited. I look at her intensely, still waiting for her answer to what I told her a while ago.

“Yes, Lucy,” she answered at last after ten long years.

I smiled and checked on the dress that is hanging in front of me.

“Go on, you can choose anything you want,” I said as I took a peek at her, still standing at my back and waiting for my order.

“I’ll be right here to assist you, M-Lucy,” she said.

Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with her. I never saw her smile or laugh. Not even once.

Sisa came to me ten years ago.

Inside the mall, while I was shopping. The girl needed money at that time, so she tried to hide a watch inside her bag. Hoping that she would not get caught. But the CCTV says it all.

When I look at her, I already know that she was troubled by her son lying in the hospital bed and badly needed an operation to live.

I immediately followed her and took the watch she hid inside her bag. I asked her to pay for it directly before the security comes to her. I used my card to pay for it and asked her to put it back inside her bag.

By the time the security group came and checked on her. The watch is already paid.

I gave her the watch and gave her some money for the hospital bills and the operation.

She needed money that badly. That is why she asked me for a job. That is how she became my assistant.

Does she know that I am a devil?

Yes, she knows. How can I hide it if my father comes in and goes out of the house with his thorns and tails? With his thunderous voice and his bodyguards who laugh intensely.

The first time I brought her into my house, she cried. But she gets by later on.

Her family is already living a good life in the human world. While she works with me in the underworld.

Her family thought she works overseas, who comes home every six months and be with them for a week. Then she goes back to work for another six months.

Father did not like the idea of a human working for me in the underworld. But he could not do anything but to allow me. Since he disappears now and then.

Sisa is a good woman. She is generous and teaches me good things that every woman should know. She tells me what is right and evil. Maybe that is the reason why I can not do something that she won’t approve of.

But I always try to follow what my father wants so Sisa could stay with me. If my father would know about her teaching me good deeds. He might kill her, probably.

I do not have anyone besides her. I do not remember what happened to me ten years ago if she did not come. I would probably be playing with those lustful souls roaming around the underworld.

She would always remind me not to mingle with them. That one day, my soulmate will come to me. I only needed to wait a little more.

Father already suspects her of teaching those things, that is why she always stays inside my room. Where my father is not allowed to go. The only place he cannot go… it in my room. Sisa calls it heaven. Sounds funny… and creepy at the same time.

I do not know the reason why he cannot get in. But it only started since Sisa came to me and live with me as my assistant.

“W-why, are we buying so many clothes for the newborn baby?” she curiously asked while staring at the paper bags she holding.

“Oh, your daughter is giving birth tonight,” I simply answered while checking some infant shoes.

“M-Madam…”

“Lucy,” I cut her.

“L-Lucy,” she mumbled.

“No need to thank me. Just help me choose,” I asked Sisa.

I turned my back to her the moment I saw her eyes get wet. I do not want to see people cry. It scares me.

“You know I can not leave you here, right?” I asked her after paying for the things that we bought. Both of us were pushing a cart full of stuff for her family.

“Y-Yes,” she answered. She looked at me and waited for my next words.

“You can bring it to them. But be sure to come back after three hours.” I told her.

She smiled at me and nodded.

I helped her out until I saw my driver with my car coming from nowhere. I am not allowed to use my power in the human world unless it is needed. I have to act like a human, too, or I am going to agonize my existence. I do not want that to happen, for I am sure I won’t be allowed to come up here in the human world, ever again.
