CHAPTER 6

This, my friend was exactly what I needed for the start and I thanked God that it came about, just when I was on the verge of giving up and shut down my hopes of ever cajoling Adasa, God works in His own mysterious ways just in time. I had to think fast so I decided to confess my love for her on a launch date on a weekday. I had fully rehearsed my lines, just to fully assure myself that I got this, I just wanted to be perfect for her and know the right words to say to her. With a task like this, my mom would always say, "speak from your heart son don't let me down". That my friend gave me the confidence I needed to face Adasa.

Adasa, when I first saw you, I never could deny that I will one day cajole you, I never deny that I will one day kiss you, I can't help it the way I am feeling about you, you keep reminding me of Silvia, I was lost when you first found me, hiding in the shadow from my destiny. You saved me when my heart was the most enemy, I feel so good to be alive just for you to wake me up from the slumber. Just waiting there in silence watching at her directly in her eyes, hoping that she won't turn me down, she became silent for a while, then she spoke it has been decades just waiting for you to say those word I love you very much Gift and yes, I wanna be yours forever.

That was the only thing I needed to hear that time, I was very happy indeed that we had officially become boyfriend and girlfriend but this didn't seem to be enough for me, I wanted more I wanted a reunion and in three months, I just had the perfect plan which could be a life-changer in both of our lives. so, I waited until the 12th of Dec 2019, it was Adasa's birthday day, it was our custom to celebrate each other's birthday in a fancy way whenever they came about. This time around I had ordered a cake from my friends' bakery, I had planned for a ring to be hidden inside the cake, it seemed to be the perfect moment to know if she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me, I never wanted to lose any chances.

As we danced our hearts out and drunk to our feelings, it came time for the toast, we toasted for her to have a long life, a bright future, and all the dreams of her life to come true. Then it came time for the cake we started singing the birthday songs as I helped my Adasa in cutting off the cake. It was then that she spotted the hidden box, she took it and opened it, she found a diamond ring and a note asking will you marry me and a signature of Gift. These were the happiest moments of her life, first her birthday then the proposal, this was every dreams girl, she could never ask for anything better, I was happy that she received the gesture with a lot of gratitude as I knelt and kept the ring on her hand she waved her hands, showing off to her friends, it was the most epic moment in both of our lives, I just didn't know how to express it, how happy I felt, only God knows how.

After the birthday my parents had arranged for an engagement party they were happy for me since they had longed to see me continue with my life and not living with the past but I always ask myself, what is the importance of the future without fixing the past? The only hope that I had then was Silvia's mother's words to me, my son, you can't go on living as if you are unworthy of it but you can go on living the way Silvia had wanted you to live your life.
