Chapter Ten

“THANK you for the info, Cindy. But I don’t want to sin,” Mavis told Cindy in a chuckle after hearing everything from her.

“You know what, you’re right. Let’s just keep them in our fantasies. Money’s more important,” Cindy said with a grin.

“Money before love!” Mavis agreed with a grin too. Then, she bid Cindy goodbye as her phone pinged with Mr. Dela Vega’s email asking where she was. He has also instructed her to get snacks for him and his cousins.

So, Mavis went to the cafeteria first to get them some snacks and drinks before going to the top floor. She ordered a lot because she doesn’t know what the other two would like but she got coffee for Mr. Dela Vega.

Mavis haven’t personally met Axel Pangilinan and Tyler Fontanilla yet but she knows what their positions are in the company. She got to see Tyler Fontanilla in a video call before and she couldn’t deny how handsome he was. But the most popular Dela Vega of all was Axel Pangilinan because he’s usually linked with local celebrities. Mavis still couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that he’s the company’s head of public affairs. But she couldn’t deny that his charm and appeal works on the media and the public.

Maybe Mr. Dela Vega’s cousins had some personal business with him that’s why they’re in the headquarters today. Although, Axel Pangilinan’s office was here in the building too, Mavis wasn’t able to meet him yet as the former was abroad last week. Tyler Fontanilla, on the other hand, was managing a subsidiary that’s not housed in the DV Corp. building. Mavis heard that he’s usually on the field.

When she reached the top floor, she put the snacks and drinks on a food cart and prepared herself to come in face-to-face with the company’s “Office Sins”.

Oh, what the heck, Cindy?! Mavis rolled her eyes at herself for being ridiculous.

Then, she knocked on Mr. Dela Vega’s office bringing their snacks with her. When she heard Mr. Dela Vega’s voice asking her to come in, Mavis opened the door and got inside.

“Good morning, gentlemen,” Mavis greeted them politely. She vowed to not get intimidated by the Dela Vega’s presence especially with the kinds of looks that Axel Pangilinan and Tyler Fontanilla was throwing her when she came in.

I’ve survived being with your “Monster Boss” of a cousin for a couple of days now, I can survive your intimidation too, Mavis gave herself a pep talk.

“You must be Miss Policarpio,” Axel Pangilinan said. She knew him by his face, of course. He wears that tempting smile with expertise as if he’d been trained to do it. He looked more laidback than his cousins. He’s wearing dark jeans with a basic white shirt topped with a luxury black coat. He also opted for brown loafers. He’s look screamed “I’m carefree and normal than your boss”.

“That’s me,” Mavis smiled as she answered him. Axel Pangilinan approached her and offered his hand. Mavis took it out of respect.

“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. You can call me Axe,” he then said.

“No. You’ll call him ‘Mr. Pangilinan’,” Mr. Dela Vega told her rather coldly.

“No. Don’t listen to him. I’d call you ‘Mavis’ and you’d call me ‘Axe’. I’ll feel old when you call me ‘Mr. Pangilinan’. Please,” Axe almost pleaded while still holding her hand.

“You’d call him ‘Sir Axe’, Miss Policarpio,” Mr. Dela Vega told her, sternly. “And, Axe, Miss Policarpio has read our company policies. She could sue you for sexual harassment if you won’t let go of her hand right now and I won’t even hold her back,” he added to his cousin. He even eyed his cousin with annoyance.

Sir Axe—yes, that’s what Mavis would call him now—laughed in amusement before letting go of her hand. “Chill, dearest cousin. I’m only introducing myself because Mavis and I will definitely work together to improve your image.

“You don’t need to work together. And my image is just fine. You don’t need to ruin it some more,” Mr. Dela Vega said and scoffed at his cousin.

He’s got a point. At least, Mr. Dela Vega’s “bad” image was just within the company unlike Sir Axe’s. The whole world knows about his scandals that’s why Mavis wondered if he’s fit for his role as the head of public affairs.

“Please don’t mind them, Mavis. They’re always like that so you better get used to it now,” Tyler Fontanilla told her. He had officially introduced himself at her with a handshake and his cousins took notice of it.

“Smooth move, Ty. Can’t wait to tell—”

“Shut up, Axe. You sound like grandma with all your yapping,” Sir Tyler mocked Sir Axe.

“Since you’ll be working closely with us, Miss Policarpio, you must know that Tyle’s already married. Don’t be fooled by his kind demeanor,” Mr. Dela Vega informed him. He looked aggravated and Mavis was dumbfounded.

Does he think that she’ll have an affair with one of his cousins or that she’ll be involved with an office romance? Again, office romance is a big no for her. So, he doesn’t need to be concerned about that. Mavis was just slightly offended because of what he had insinuated. And she wondered why Sir Axe and Sir Tyler was laughing in histerics now.

“Oh, f*ck. This is going to be fun,” Sir Axe said in between his laughs.

“Fine. Three months for me, Axe,” Sir Tyler said and Mavis looked at him in confusion.

“She’s promising, Ty. I’ll bet for six months. She earned high praises from both Daye and David, so I’ll trust them. Six months,” Sir Axe said in turn.

Wait, were they betting on her? Really? As if Mavis was not there?

“Miss Policarpio, throw them out of here,” Mr. Dela Vega ordered her in a stern and annoyed voice. He’s obviously in a foul mood now.

Is this how the infamous Office Saints usually meet?

Heeding her boss’ order, Mavis opened the office door for Sir Axe and Sir Tyler. “This way, Sir Axe, Sir Tyler,” she told them politely.

Sir Axe laughed louder. “Oh, my God! She did what she’s told,” Sir Axe said in amusement.

Mavis knew that she shouldn’t take everything personally, but she couldn’t help feeling annoyed with Mr. Dela Vega’s cousins now.            If they won’t stop laughing, she would really haul their asses off this office.

“This is getting interesting. I can’t wait for what’s to come,” Sir Tyler said. They’re walking towards the door now.

Mavis thought that he’s a good guy earlier but she’s throwing that thought away now.

“Please make it worth our while, Mavis,” Sir Axe asked her, grinning and finally leaving the office.

Mavis only answered him with a smile before shutting the door on their faces. Mr. Dela Vega’s room was at peace when the two left and Mavis had liked that peace.

“I revised the presentation for later. I’ve already sent it to your email. Edit it now,” Mr. Dela Vega ordered Mavis after a few beats.

“Okay, Mr. Dela Vega. Here’s the cafeteria menu for today. Let me know what you want,” Mavis said while handing him the menu card that she got from the cafeteria earlier. Then, she left his office to work on his order.

Ah, today is such a great day so far. I hope not to meet his cousins again today.
