Chapter 6

CAMILLE

They didn’t realize that I was peeking through the door and watching over my sister Kath and the man with her.

I even looked at him, irritated even though I knew he couldn't see me here in my place.

I know that my sister has tiny feelings for that man named Daniel but of course, our radar is strong so we all feel that both of them might end up being together.

It looks like my sister is looking for the man being set for her and we will make sure that the two of them will break their friendship over.

I went back to the room where my other siblings were and made a new plan.

KATH

It's finally Saturday and I just woke up. I stretched first before getting out of bed. I fixed my bed and I realized that I needed time to unwind.

I went out of the room and found Jeremy having breakfast at the dining room table. He noticed me immediately so he greeted me, "Good morning, sister! Have breakfast first."

"All right. Oh. Hey, after all, it's Saturday now, maybe you want to go for a walk today with your siblings?"

His eyes lit up and he jumped for joy, "All right, sis! Can we visit the clubhouse later and play basketball there? There's a mini basketball court over there."

I thought about it and nodded. I remember that there was a clubhouse right there inside the subdivision, "Okay, go ahead. We'll leave right after we eat. Let's exercise by just walking," I told him. I looked around the house and noticed that the surroundings were very quiet, "Wait, where are the others? Why didn't I notice them?"

"Well, mom went to work earlier.
She cooked our breakfast and about Camille, she said that she'll wander around with her new friends. Raffy and Sandra are still asleep," he said.

I just nodded because it's really hard to wake Raffy and Sandra up, especially on Saturdays. Even if we all go out of the house, they would rather just stay home and choose to sleep, "How about Nicole?

"About Nicole, there's no problem with that. After all, she's the only twin I like and loves my every sport."

"All right, let's just ask Nicole if she'll come with us."

"Where are you going?
" Nicole suddenly spoke from upstairs and immediately came down to join us for breakfast, "I heard you guys talking. Where are you going after this?"

"We're going to the clubhouse after this and maybe playing basketball," Jeremy said to his twin, Nicole.

"All right!
I like that!" Nicole said happily and immediately sat down at the table. I lead a prayer first before we eat.

When we finished our breakfast, we clean the table we got dressed, and immediately left the house.

We entered right inside the subdivision where the clubhouse and mini-court were immediately overlooked. The court is covered so not too hot.

“Looks like you’re lucky and there’s not much playing here right now,” I said to the two of them as they walked towards it.

As we got closer to the court, I saw some people were playing basketball. I thought no one was playing so I thought of just turning around to go home.

"Hey, is that Daniel playing basketball?" Nicole suddenly spoke to Jeremy and it was obvious that they were looking at that so I stopped and faced the court where I could see the players.

"Yes, that's him. What is he doing here?"

I don’t know but I suddenly felt excited and I was so happy to see him here in the clubhouse of our very subdivision.

I looked at my watch and realized it was only quarter to eight in the morning. How is he here now? I was wondering but I also thought that maybe he has a friend living here.

"Come on! You're going to play, aren't you?" I didn't flinch any further and immediately pulled their hands in the direction of Daniel and his friends.

"Daniel!" I happily called him. I saw that he immediately turned around and smiled as soon as he saw me. He was about to wave when the ball suddenly hit his forehead.

"OUCH!" he shouted and I immediately ran towards him and grabbed him by the hands. I don’t know but I felt something else when I touched them.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry and I even called you right in the middle of your session," I asked for defense. I was embarrassed because the ball hit him on the head.

"I'm fine, Kath. Don't worry," he said and smiled at me as he held the head he had hit.

"Why are you here?" I asked him, "You're probably not from here, are you?"

"No, I'm not. I just hang out here every Saturday. My friend Earl also lives here, he's also one of the school's basketball team," he said so I nodded.

His friends Rick and two others on the basketball team ran up to us. That's why they seemed so familiar because I already saw them on the tarpaulins and he was with Daniel once when they were in the gym or school court.

"Hi, Kath! It's you!" Rick greeted me and immediately pulled the two male members of the Basketball Team. "This is Earl, and this one is John," Rick introduced the two of them, "I see that you have someone with you, too."

I pulled the twins closer and introduced them, "Yeah, they are my twin siblings. This is Nicole and Jeremy. We came here all of a sudden since it's Saturday and they want to play basketball."

"Really? All right, let's play! Daniel and I will pair as a team and then I will play against you, twins and Earl is your teammate. How is that sound?" Rick suggested to the two of them. I can't understand what they're saying just about basketball, but I know a little bit.

"Game!" they all answered and John frowned.

"Hey! What about me? Am I not included?" John asked them.

"John, you're weak and lame! Just go with Kath there and sit right there," Rick teased and we went to the side of the court where there were benches and chairs.

"You're so mean to me! All right and I'll just sit down. I'm really upset with you! Hmph!" as he said he sat next to me still frowning.

"We'll beat you, Daniel! Bring it up, dude!" Jeremy shouts looking disrespectful.

"Jeremy! What are you doing? He is older than you, be nice," I scolded him but my good brother ignored me.

"That's okay, Kath. I'm used to it," Daniel defended so I just let them go and just watched when they started playing.

DANIEL

About a few minutes have also passed and we are just really having fun playing but I feel like this game has become serious. I just don't care about this game but it seems like the siblings are really getting their heads on this game and they take it real seriously.

I was a little taken aback and disappointed because I could see that he treated my friends Rick, Earl, and John kindly and well, except me. They behaved differently and they treated me differently.

I just let it go because I don't care. If they don't accept me, I'm out of their league. As long as I can only fight for my loved ones and I will not give up.

It was surprising in this game and they only scored two points ahead of us. Now I know that both of them are good or is it because they take the game so seriously?

"You're good at playing basketball, guys," I praised the twins but Nicole just smiled and Jeremy was silent. I'll get used to it too, all right.

"Let's end this!" when I threw the ball the two immediately grabbed me so I fell to the floor. I felt my ankle twisted but I don’t know where I get the very high patience of these two kids.

"That's a foul, guys!" Kath shouted from her seat. She's right, that's a foul but I'll just let it slide. They are just kids, for Pete's sake!

"You alright, dude?" Rick asked worriedly and helped me to my feet. I shook my buttocks and felt myself. I didn't fall well, the strength of those two! "What? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I lied because I felt a little lame and my ankle hurt.

We continued to play until we also finished playing. Of course, we won so we left that place.

No one seemed to notice that I was walking a little limply. There is no doubt that loudly and they meant that. It's annoying but I just let it go because what am I supposed to do with it? They are young and they still have a lot to learn, aside from me being an adult.

I didn’t realize when Kath suddenly grabbed me in my arms. I don't know but I feel like I'm being electrified by her touches again. Please, no!

"Are you okay? You look as lazy as you walk," I turned to her and smiled. She can see that but I don't want her to know about this. She might be guilty of what her siblings did earlier.

"It's nothing, don't worry. There were as many tiny pebbles in my shoes before when I played so that's why. It kind of hurts but it's really fine," I said and I'm thankful that she was convinced by my reason which is probably lies.

"All right, come on. Let's go to V-ross Mart and buy ice cream there," Rick immediately went inside the Mart so we just followed him to the ice cream section.

"What about you, Kath? What do you want? Don't worry, I'll pay for it."

"Are you sure? Well, you decide. I'm all good," she replied.

"Are you going to pay for our ice cream? Then you will pay for it to us as well," Nicole suddenly said as they took the ice cream together.

I expected it so I just agreed with what they wanted. We also went to the cashier so I took my wallet but I was shocked that I couldn't find the wallet in my pocket. I immediately grabbed my bag but my wallet was not inside there either.

"Won't you pay for it? The cashier is waiting," Jeremy said, impatiently.

"My wallet is just here a while ago but it's gone. Just wait," I told them and was still looking for my wallet. I swear, my wallet was just really right here in my pocket and my pocket has zippers. Impossible!

"What?! How's that possible that it's gone? Who's going to pay for it? You're a total scam! Just tell us that you can't afford to pay it," Nicole said and stared at me. I don't have much patience but I'm just patient to deal with them!

"Hey! Don't talk to him like that! You guys are so rude! Just shut up and I'll pay for it," Kath scolded her siblings and took money from her bag to pay for the purchases, and she also paid mine as well.

It's embarrassing for her to pay mine. I even said that I will be the one to pay but where is my wallet?

I approached her and whispered, "Kath, I'm sorry. I can't find my wallet. I'll just look for it first and so that you can be paid as well."

She looked at me and smiled big while holding my hand, "Don't worry. That's okay and it's not that expensive."

"This sucks. I don't know where that crazy wallet had gone. I brought a lot of money today."

"I know it's just right there. I'm sure that you can find it. Well, I can help you find it if you want."

"No, it's fine. We can handle this. I don't want you to get tired anymore."

"You are so sweet! All right, I can--"

"KATH!" Nicole suddenly screams and inserts into the conversation while licking the ice cream she ate, "Aren't we going home yet? Because we want to go home and we're so tired."

"Yes! Just wait for a minute, will you?" Kath frowned before looking at me, "As much as I want to spend time with you, it looks like my companions are already so tired. Well, we must get going then."

"No worries, take care," I just said and there they walked away in front of us.
