Chapter 3

YANNY

I can’t sleep, why can’t I just forget about it? It’s impossible to be true! I already checked the complaints or reports regarding about a missing student or staff of the university but there’s none, besides the one that I thought I saw that night is a man, this is a girl’s dormitory that’s quite contradicting.

I sat down and messed up my hair because of frustration. What should I do? I can’t forget about it, should I look into it one more time?

I got up from bed and walk towards the fridge , I’m thirsty and frustrated at the same time.

I leaned on the kitchen sink as I slowly drink. If I remember correctly , that man is bleeding and unconscious while being dragged by a girl,I wasn’t able to look at their faces but I was able to tell that it is a man because of his bulky body while about the girl, she whispered at me, I can’t possibly forget about her voice .

I need to look at it one more time and I’ll stop concerning myself from that issue if I ever end up not getting any evidence that what happened is true . I hope it isn’t true.

I walk back towards my bed but I stopped from my track when I saw a silhouette near on the veranda. My eyes widened in shock as I quickly go back towards my bed and covered my whole body with the comforter.

Who’s that?

“ Scaredy kitty “ I smirked as I whispered to myself then quickly jump to the ground.

It’s good that her room is just in the second floor or else it would be a lot of work in order to see her at night.

I put both of my arms in my pocket as I walk calmly towards the boy’s dormitory.

“ P-Prince “ the lady in charge for the girl’s dormitory stuttered then bowed at me when she saw me . She must be out to check the area around the dorm.

I nod at her and was about to walk pass through her when I remembered something,

“ Make sure that no guy would sneak in okay? “ I stated and turned my back on her as I whistle faintly.

I wonder what’s Abcd and Uwyx doing by now? Well, hope they are doing good.

YANNY

“ what happened to you?” Lance asked me worriedly as he leaned closer to stare at me intently.

“ I just had a bad dream last night about a ghost in the veranda , “ I stated weakly as I feel really sleepy.

I’m pretty sure it is a person’s silhouette but how? My rooms on the second floor and the verandas are far from each room, it’s impossible that someone jump through it, that would be too dangerous.

“ Oh come on Yanny, stop spacing out, I’ll treat you, you want?”

I quickly looked at Lance with excitement in my eyes as I nod at him exaggeratedly . That’s what I need right now, free food!

“ hey Leni want to go with us? We’re going to grab something to eat “ Lance asked his sister but Leni just smiled and shake her head as he continue to type something in her laptop.

“ she seems busy, we’ll just bring back food for her then, let’s go?” Lance said and then motioned me to follow him.

We are walking in the hallway when I saw Abcdef being pushed into the corner by some random students, are they bullying him? Seriously?

“ Hey hey hey! “I yelled and run towards them and pushed them away from Abcdef, I stand up in front of him to protect him from the guys .

“ What do you think you’re doing? All of you are already college students and yet you still do bullying? How immature can you be?” I stated looking at them seriously.

“ Don’t meddle with our business Miss, we’re just talking “ one of the guys retorted making me raise an eyebrow.

They are clearly bullying Abcdef! How dare them lie?

“ Do you have something to do with them?” I asked Abcdef who’s behind me.

“ Nothing” he stated flatly making me glare at the guys in front of me.

“ You heard him, now go or else I’ll report all of you” I stated and all of them grunted and glared at me murderously as they back down.

I let out a sigh of relief then face Abcdef who remains silent.

“ You scared? Don’t worry they won’t harm you, you can report if any incidents like this will happen again okay? Don’t be scared to let us know” I sincerely stated and bend down slightly to look at him in the eyes.

“ Yanny? Is everything alright?” Lance voice caught my attention and I automatically looked away from Abcdef.

“ some guys are bullying him, I just helped him out “ I explained and then look back at Abcdef who’s weirdly glaring at Lance.

“ So shorty, we’ll be going. Take care okay?” I tapped his shoulders and then pulled Lance towards the cafeteria’s direction.

“ What do you want?” Lance asked me as he look at the menu.

“ same as yours, I want to try something new “ I stated as I rested my both hands on the table.

Lance stood up and ordered our food after he chose something and I was left alone in the table.

Where should I start digging for informations? Should I first talk to Mrs Fuego and ask her if she’ll let me check the empty rooms around that place? That would be the best way to start looking for evidences to prove that what I saw really did happened but what will I do if I end up knowing that it’s true? Or if it’s not?

“ Can I seat here?” A familiar cold baritone voice caught my attention and I found Abcdef staring intently at me while holding a tray.

“ O-oh! Sure shorty, sit here “ I stated and tap the chair beside me.

He then carefully put down the tray which is filled with different yummy foods as he look at me seriously.

“ What’s with that look?” I chuckled at him when he’s still not changing the way he stare at me.

His green eyes penetrated me deeply , Why is he looking at me like that? Did I did something wrong? It’s the kind of stare that will tell you that you did something unforgivable.

He shake his head and then gently pushed the tray towards my direction making me frown.

“ Why? Is this mine?” I asked him as I grin at him.

He nodded making me surprised, woah that was a first! I always need to force him to treat me but now he’s giving it to me willingly , is it because I saved him from the bullies?

“ no need, Lance is going to treat me today. You can eat it, besides what I did earlier is part of my job” I smiled gently at him and push the tray back to his direction.

And for another first, he frowned at me and stared at me while irritation is evident on his face.

“ Are you choosing him over me?” He asked me making me shock then burst out in laughter.

“ Shorty, don’t be jealous “ I stated still giggling and pat him on the head.

“ I’m not “ he flatly stated and looked away making me smile amusingly.

Never thought he has this side.

“ Oh we have company” Lance stated and smiled at Abcdef as he sat down with the tray .

Abcdef on the other hand just raised an eyebrow at him and didn’t even greeted him.

“ sorry, he’s on his period “ I jokingly said making Lance and I laugh while Abcdef remains silent.

“ Here Yanny, take this. This is delicious I swear “ Lance said and handed me the plate .

“ Thank you” I smiled at him gently and take a taste of the food he gave me.

My eyes widened as I chew it and gave him a thumbs up. It is good indeed!

I was surprised when Abcdef suddenly pulled the plate away from me and replaced it by the whole tray he bought.

“ O-oh “ Lance stated out of words because of his rude behavior while I smiled awkwardly at him being sorry in Abcdef’s stead.

I simply kicked Abcdef’s foot under the table making him look at me surprisingly.

That’s what you get for being so rude.

“ Damn, excuse me for a while, I have to take this call” Lance quickly stand up and left the both us alone in the table.

I look at Abcdef who’s grinning widely and rolled my eyes at him. Look at that expression,

“ Abcdef “ I called him seriously making him look at me intently.

He raised an eyebrow at me as if motioning me to speak,

“ What if you witness a murder?” I asked him seriously.

I quickly covered my seriousness with a chuckle and shake my head.

“ Nah, don’t mind me, maybe it’s because of the movie I watched-“

“ You should stay quiet and don’t get yourself involve “ he stated seriously looking at me intently.

“ H-huh?” I stated shock because he answered my question seriously.

“ What do you mean? I’ll stay quiet? I won’t help the victim or report-“

“ I told you stay quiet and don’t get involve! “ he hissed at me and slammed the table making everyone who’s near us look at the direction of our table confused.

“ A-Abcdef I’m just kidding, t-there’s no way I’ll be able to witness a crime” I stated stuttering when I suddenly felt scared of him.

He somehow look different right now, he’s mad and I don’t know why.

“ J-just stay- fuck!” He didn’t finish his statement and left me dumbfounded , wondering why he’s acting like that.

I stared intently at the table as I wonder why he suddenly got mad. I bit my lower lip as I remember how I asked him about the question, he don’t know why I’m asking that question so why would he take it seriously to the point that he’ll slam the table that hard?

I stared intently at the mirror , my veins are showing because of anger.

I thought she decided to forget about what happened but guess she did not. I slammed the mirror breaking the glass forcefully.

Blood is dripping down from my hand, she don’t need to think about it, she doesn’t need to be involve!Please , don’t do anything stupid.

I don’t want her to be involve in this mess but if she continue being curious I won’t be able to keep her out of this.

I need to distance myself from her. I need to hurry up find the gem and leave this fucking country.

YANNY

It’s been one week and I wasn’t able to see Abcdef throughout those days.

Maybe he’s really mad at me? I can’t help but to be sad just by thinking I made him angry at me, what should I do? I don’t want him to avoid me forever.

We just met but weirdly he’s a very important person for me. It pains me that I can’t speak with him.

“ What’s with the long face?” James teased me while wiping off his sweats .

We’re at the basketball court, I’m here to help James and Paris to conduct a try out since the coach is still on the hospital. Fortunately he’ll be back next week , so they decided that they’ll be the ones who’ll gather more players for the team.

“ Where’s the other players? I thought some of your star players will join us to filter out those who’ll try out “ I asked him ignoring his question.

I’m not in the mood to go with his teasings.

“ Oh yeah, they are just finishing some things , besides the try out will start at 6 pm it’s still 4:33 pm so there’s still a lot of time” James explained as he dribble the ball.

“ Then what’s the use of dribbling that ball? You’ve been doing that for almost half an hour already, you’re exhausting yourself , you sure you’ll still have enough energy left to test those who’s aspiring to be on the team?” I sarcastically stated and rolled my eyes.

“ James don’t pester Yanny, she’s on a bad mood today “ Paris yelled from the other corner of the court.

James grinned at me while wiggling his eyebrows.

“ You’re on your period?” He asked me teasingly .

I frowned at him , “ I’m not on my period “ I stated irritably .

I’m just sad, I added in my mind.

“ Captain!” A loud screamed echoed throughout the whole court revealing a good looking guy who has chinky eyes.

Is he a Chinese? Or Japanese? Or Korean? Well not my concern anymore.

“ The try out will start at six, just sit down at those bench and wait for the players to evaluate you” I stated flatly and point out towards the bench reserved for the guys who’ll try out.

“Eh? “ he said frowning at me.

I raised an eyebrow at him, what’s the problem of this dude? My instruction is so simple and yet he managed to say “eh” at me?

“ Yanny , he’s Cole Park, he’s our player . He’s here to help us evaluate those who want to apply” Paris stated as she walk near me.

I looked at Cole , shock evident on my face. That’s why he’s tall.

“ Sorry Cole, I thought you’re applying too” I stated and smiled apologetically.

“ She’s on her period” I heard James whispered on Cole’s left ear while the latter looked at me understandingly.

“ I already told you I’m not on my period!” I hissed at them.

The three of them including Paris laughed wholeheartedly while looking at me.

All of us quickly glance at the court’s entrance when someone tapped the door loudly .

My eyes widened as my heart beats rapidly as I stare at him . What is he doing here?

“ I’m here for the try out” he stated as he walk near us.

“ R-really? But Yanny’s taller than you” Paris stated forcing a smile.

“ That’s okay, talent and skills over height” I stated excitedly and look at Paris .

“ A-Ahm okay, the basketball team is open for anyone who wants to try. We’ll see your skills later “ Paris said and smiled at Abcdef who’s staring intently at me.

“ You can’t wear glasses while playing basketball , also your bangs is too long , can’t you do something about it?” James talked to Abcdef seriously while I stare at him excitedly.

After a week ! I finally got to see him again!

“ Yanny will do something about my hair, right?” Abcdef states then give me a glance .

I smiled widely at him amazing James and Cole look at me surprisingly.

“ O-Of course! I’ll do something about your hair , here come with me shorty “ I stated happily and drag him towards the nearest chair.

I excitedly opened my purse and look for something that may be use to tie his hair.

“ Do you want me to braid it? Are you okay with that?” I asked him and bend my head to look at him in the face.

He nodded and it made me happier. He’s not mad at me anymore right? He isn’t mad at me anymore!

“ I don’t understand girls “ Cole stated seriously

“ Me too, look at Yanny her mood automatically changed in a snap!” James blurted out.

I didn’t even tried to glance back at them , I’m just happy that Abcdef is not mad anymore and besides I’m kinda curious if he really knows how to play? And why?
