CHAPTER 7

Regardless of Emily’s white lie about her virginity, Levi forgave her. His love for Emily was so profound that he would do anything to make her happy. When she became pregnant with their first child, he was over the moon! He couldn’t wait to see his child who would possibly look like him or like Emily.

As a product of a broken family, he wanted to be different from his wife and future child. He promised never to make the same mistake that his father did which caused her mother to leave him for another man. He would never abandon his child or his wife!

“Maybe you should stop working for a few months, Emily,” Levi suggested while they enjoyed the fish soup which he prepared for breakfast.

Emily knitted her brows before she put down the fork and spoon which she used. “Why should I?” She was offended by his suggestion. Getting pregnant right after marriage wasn’t part of the plan, and because of it, she hated Levi even more! Her pregnancy complicated her plans to make him suffer for causing Jasmine’s death.

“To focus on your pregnancy,” he replied but he looked away for a second after he noticed the scowls on Emily’s face. Did he say something offensive?

“Did you expect me to be a plain housewife, Levi? No, I can’t live like that!” Emily refused to resign from her job, especially, when she’s already acknowledged for her skills.

“You can just return to work after giving birth,” Levi tried to negotiate with Emily, but when he noticed her facial expression, he immediately zipped his mouth. “I’m sorry,” he ended up apologizing to the woman. After he married her, it was Emily who wore the pants in their household, and he couldn’t even voice out his opinion most of the time.

“Hurry up with your breakfast,” she ordered after checking the time.

Levi cleared his throat when he was about to inform Emily about skipping a day at work. He had something important to do at home and it couldn’t wait for another day. “I’m not going to the office today,” he announced.

Emily narrowed her eyes towards Levi because he wasn’t the type to skip from working. “Why?” When she studied him, he looked just fine. “Are you sick?” She inquired.

“I’m fine, don’t worry. I already informed our Boss that I will be absent today. Just let me know when you’re ready then I’ll drive you to the office,” Levi said.

For several months that she lived with him, Emily was almost convinced that he’s a good man. However, the nightmare didn’t stop, and Jasmine continued to haunt her in her dreams. Emily believed that she had to do something more drastic to further her cause. “In fifteen minutes,” she replied.

Thirty minutes later, Levi and Emily arrived at the parking space of the EC Building. “You’re blooming today,” Levi complimented his beautiful wife before he let her get out of the car.

“I’m always blooming, darling,” Emily replied jokingly. “Please don’t be late when you pick me up later,” she reminded her husband.

Levi smiled before he planted a kiss on Emily’s cheek, but when his lips touched hers, he groaned at the sexual desire he felt for his pregnant wife. If only she’s not pregnant, he would take her inside the cramped space of his car. “I’ll be on time, later. Have a nice day, darling.” He said.

When Emily got out of the car, he waited until she’s inside the building before he drove away. Emily may have forgotten about it but it’s their monthly anniversary and he planned to do something special for the only woman who helped him become the best version of himself.

From EC Building, he dropped by Leona’s Cakes to pick-up the red velvet cake he ordered the other day. It’s Emily’s favorite, and he planned to cook something good for her later. Whenever they’re having a celebration, they would usually have dinner in their favorite restaurant. He wanted to make it extra special, and he was already excited at the outcome later.

Even if Emily’s five months pregnant, it wasn’t obvious because of her petite figure, and Levi already imagined how she would look at the sexy dress he purchased last week.

Levi smiled at the store attendant when he picked up the cake. At home, he cleaned every nook in the house, until the house was spotlessly clean.

Later in the afternoon, Levi prepared something special in the kitchen. Emily loved every pork dishes but her most favorite was the Bicol express. She loved spicy chicken feet, too. Levi prepared everything before he went to pick up his wife from the office.

Emily would usually leave the office at seven in the evening even if their office hours were only until six. The extra hour wouldn’t be counted as overtime, but for several months, Emily was willing to render an extra hour for her paper works. As he waited for the lift to arrive, he tried to call his wife but her phone was turned off. When the elevator opened, his secretary exited from the lift. He smiled at Camilla and asked, “Is Emily still in the office?

Camilla was shocked to see Levi in the building. The guilt she’s been carrying for several months continued to haunt her at night. She looked at her officemates and signaled to wait for her while she talked with her boss. She darted some glances towards the man who tried to become a better version of himself, but karma caught up with him. Nevertheless, she couldn’t be honest with him. “She’s in the rooftop,” she replied while trying to compose herself because she knew that a bomb would go off later. “I have to leave now, excuse me.” She said.

“Go on, Camilla. Thank you,” Levi stated before he entered the elevator. Emily loved the rooftop, and he noticed it ever since she joined EC Brokerage. Every time she’s free, she would usually go up, and he assumed that she found comfort at the highest place of the building.

Their house also has a rooftop, but she seldom went up every time she’s home, or maybe she’s only tired. In the end, their rooftop served as a place for their laundry.

Levi was supposed to surprise her, but he ended up being surprised when he got out of the lift. Emily was with their boss and they’re kissing each other! Levi’s eyes enlarged when he saw Eliakem’s hands-on Emily’s breast. “EMILY!” Levi shouted for his wife’s name to get their attention.
