CHAPTER 4

Eliakem disapproved of the sweetness between Levi and Emily. He wanted to call the attention of Levi who was a known playboy inside the company. Levi became an ace when he learned to combine his knowledge and good looks. At first, it was okay for Eliakem because it benefited EC Brokerage as a whole. However, as he began to notice the unique beauty that Emily possessed, he didn’t want Levi to get near her.

One day, as he passed through the working station of Levi’s team, he saw Camilla alone. “Where’s your boss?” He asked Camilla about Levi’s whereabouts.

“Sales call, Mr. Chavez,” Camilla answered nervously. The branch manager of EC Brokerage was known to be grumpy most of the time, and she didn’t want to offend him.

Eliakem checked his Rolex and a line appeared on his forehead. “Sales call? At this hour? How about the sales trainee?” He referred to Emily.

“She went with Levi, Mr. Chavez,” Camilla replied but she was scared when Eliakem Chavez cursed. “Do you need anything, sir?” She asked politely.

“Yes. I need to see his monthly sales report,” Eliakem stated.

Camilla paled at Eliakem’s announcement. It was her duty to generate Levi’s monthly sales report, but when she did it earlier, nothing came out. Levi had no transaction lately, and she also wondered why. Mr. Chavez must have noticed about it or he wouldn’t be grumpy at all. “I’ll email it to you tomorrow morning, sir.” She bit her lip as she made a promise.

“How about the sales trainee? Is there an improvement? I need Levi’s assessment of Ms. Emily Gosum,” he announced before leaving.

Camilla shook her head as she stared at Eliakem’s back. If some could hold a candle against Levi’s good looks, it was Eliakem Chavez. However, their branch manager was always serious and different from Levi who always had a ready smile for everyone. Immediately, she dialed Levi’s phone and waited until he picked up the phone. “Mr. Chavez wants your sales report right now,” she told him as soon as he answered.

“Right now? What did you tell him?” Levi panicked.

“I told him you’re on a sales call,” she answered. It has always been her reason every time someone asked for Levi, but to be honest, she had no idea what he’s doing outside the office with Emily Gosum. Some of the staff have been gossiping about the two because their actions were suspicious, and they looked as if they were dating!

“You’re the best, Camilla. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it later. We’re already on our way back to the office,” Levi said.

“Good,” Camilla replied before ending the call.

Twenty minutes later, Levi and Emily arrived together, and they looked uncomfortable under the scrutiny of some employees. Camilla stared at Emily but the other woman only smiled at her. Although she was aware of Levi’s womanizing activities inside the brokerage, she disliked Emily’s guts and flirting skills. It was obvious that she tried to win Levi’s affection, and Camilla thought that Emily was being overconfident.

“Did you generate my sales report for the month?” Levi asked his secretary.

“Yes, I did. However, there was nothing in the report. You have no transaction last month,” she informed him.

Levi shy glanced towards Emily who listened to his conversation with Camilla and smiled. “May I see it?” He began to worry while waiting for Camilla to retrieve the files. Since last month, he has been busy assisting Emily in doing sales that he forgot about his quota.

“Here,” Camilla handed his sales report for review.

Levi blinked his eyes as he stared at the sales report. Through the years that he’s been working at EC Brokerage, he never experienced a zero sales in a month. “Can you also print Emily’s report?” He wanted to check something, and when he looked at Emily’s table, the woman was no longer there. She probably went to the powder room or the pantry.

Camilla rolled her eyes before she generated the sales report under Emily’s name. After she printed the documents, she brought it to Levi. “She’s getting better,” Camilla noticed the admirable total sales for a trainee.

Levi checked the document and smiled upon seeing the total figure. The sales report would cement Emily’s post in the brokerage, and Eliakem wouldn’t be able to terminate her probationary contract. He smiled at the thought that she’s going to be one of the best sales executives soon. “Thanks, Camilla.” He stood up with the report that Camilla gave him, and strode towards the manager’s office. Levi knocked first before he entered Eliakem’s office.

“Come in, Levi.” Eliakem acknowledged the man’s presence.

Levi submitted the report that contained Emily’s sales transaction first. “She has potential, Mr. Chavez,” Levi said after he recommended for Emily’s regular employment.

Eliakem studied the report and nodded his head. “Are you sure that she did it, Levi?” He suspected that it was Levi’s work, and not Emily’s.

“Yes, Mr. Chavez. I just accompanied her to show some support,” he explained.

“Hmmm, we’ll see about that. Inform Emily that I’ll be the one to accompany her tomorrow if she has a schedule for a sales call,” he informed Levi. “And your monthly report? Where is it?

“I had no transaction last month, Mr. Chavez,” Levi informed his boss before he submitted the report with no sales transaction.

Eliakem knitted his brows as he listened to Levi’s explanation. Throughout the years, Levi didn’t fail to bring millions to the company. “What do you mean, Levi?” He asked but then he read Levi’s generated sales report, he scowled at the ace of the sales team. “What is this?” He roared.

“I was busy with service calls last month, Mr. Chavez, and I made sure to train Miss Gosum well,” Levi explained.

Eliakem lifted the tip of his eyebrow as he questioned Levi’s motive for being extra helpful towards Emily Gosum. “She’s your type, right?” He teased Levi about Emily.

“Hmmm, she’s my girlfriend, Mr. Chavez,” Levi replied.

“WHAT?” Eliakem roared. Although he suspected that something was going on between Levi and Emily, he didn’t expect that she agreed to be his girlfriend already. “Since when?” He asked.

“Since last month,” Levi answered, and when Eliakem probed a little more about his relationship with the sales trainee, he narrated that everything began after he invited Emily for a coffee. “I have proposed to her already, and she said yes.” He deemed it necessary to inform Eliakem about his plan to marry Emily.

“You’re aware of the consequences, Levi.” Eliakem reminded Levi that once he would marry Emily, one of them has to resign or transfer to the main office.

“Yes, and she told me she’s willing to quit,” Levi replied.

Eliakem tightened his jaw as he imagined her luscious body under Levi. He was the first man to have her and he couldn’t process the idea that soon, she would become Levi’s wife. He had to talk to her! “I bet that you’re already intimate with each other,” he concluded.

Levi’s shoulder shook hard as he laughed out loud. “You won’t believe it, but I’m willing to wait until our wedding night.” Emily made it clear that she wouldn’t sleep with him unless it’s their wedding night, and he was already thrilled to pick the sweetest fruit soon.
