Ryle, what are you doing here? Regal asks as she steps forward.

Ryle inhales again before she answers Regal; she is unsettled because Hector is standing right beside her sister when she admits her failures.

Talk to me? Regal asks again.

“It has gotten out of control, I need everyone out. I was thinking you guys would help me; three of the neighbors have come to complain already. If I don’t get them out they could call the cops.” Ryle says as she faces the ground.

Of course, I’ll help you. Hector replies.

Regal walks out of the door first and Hector follows behind after sealing the door.

Hector is the first to step into their house and has he did, everyone stares back at him because of his physical build. He has grown into such a refined man that wherever he enters will be captivated by his figure. Regal opens her mouth when she can’t count the number of wild friends in her home; she mouths Ryle who rolls her eyes.

“Everything is a mess.

The table is turned upside down, the books her parents reserved in the shelves are poured out, not to talk of the pizza and drink stains on the rugs and tiles. The kitchen counter is filled with unattended cups, brownie crumbs, and a shoe.

The dish washer is opened and there is soap everywhere, unused plates, spoons are everywhere.

Hector turns off the speaker first and flings the wire to the ground.

I need everyone to leave.

Regal eyes shone when she hears his voice, it used to be deep and a little rusty. But, now it carries so much authority that she can literally feel goose bumps rising on her hands. And she isn’t the only one that is amused by it, Ryle can’t get enough of his voice that trembles and makes his Adam’s apple bob as he dips his hands into his pocket.

“No one asks another question and one by one, they begin to file out one after the other after his one command.

Ryle is ashamed of herself right not, she didn’t think she would lose control over her own party. And the fact that she had to call Hector Wiles to put a stop to it, a kick in her head.

Finally, every wild person is out the door, leaving Ryle, Regal and Hector in the deconstructed house.

Wow. A party you threw Ryle, Regal scoffs.

Ah, please. Don’t scold me yet. She says before she folds her hand.

I’m sorry, Hector. I don’t think we would be able to continue Van Helsing tonight. Regal says as she dusts her shoes under something sticky.

Are you kidding me? Look at his mess. Hector says pointing at everywhere in study.

“I’ll help you guys clean up instead.” He says while his eyes stare at Ryle.

Sweet! I’ll get the mop, broom and anything I can get my hands on. Regal says before she disappears from the stairs.

There is little silence between the both of them after Regal leaves, but Hector edges closer to Ryle who hates her social awkwardness when it came to him. Hector begins to pick up cans from the floor first as he walks over to her.

Ryle? His voice makes her heart beat erratically; she just wants to embrace him.

“You know we have to talk someday.

Yeah, she answers.

Nice party you threw by the way. Hector says and Ryle can’t help but chuckle at the humor behind his compliment.

“Really, you managed to invite the whole school. He completes as he squats to pick down a brown, dark stocking.

And whoever owns this too was definitely invited to the turn up, he says as he raises it up.

Ewww! Ryle chuckles as she stares at the item before he drops it into the garbage bag.

“Now, I have you smiling.” He says.

“This is not my real face; you better give the owner of that stocking the credit. Ryle snickered.

“Oh, really.” Hector says as he kicks a can to her side.

Regal stomps down from the stairs with a mop stick, squeezing bucket, soap, and freshener.

Looks like you two had a good catch up, huh? Regal says.

“Not as good as ours.” He replies, but Ryle doesn’t let it get to her this time.

She doesn’t let the view or wordings of their displayed friendship get to her, she knows that what she has is an unrequited love and very soon, it would have to end, she would have to end it. Ryle can see it in Hector’s eyes that he has love for her sister and that is all that he knows, she will not fight her sister for it or battle for some affection.

Have you forgotten, she battles whatever life throws at her? It’s the difference between her and her sister.

They spend an hour cleaning up the sitting room, stains from the rug, keeping the utensils that aren’t supposed to be on the floor back to its right places and it’s a tough load of work. An hour spent and Ryle cannot wait to just wash up and lie down for a good night sleep, not until she spots a light from out their porch and she hears the bell sound from the door.

Ryle freezes when her ear catches the sound, she immediately peeps through the window and she sees her dad parking into the already opened garage. The doorbell rings again and this time, Ryle closes her mouth.

She turns back to Hector who was almost on his way out, they whisper to each other and Regal is stunned to find out her mom is right out the door.

They don’t pick the door, and so, their mom calls and Regal scuffles as she reaches her pocket to get her phone out until she caught the call.

By rational thinking, Regal grabs Hector and leads him upstairs where she throws him into her room, she turns off the light and hopes there won’t be a catch tonight.
