CHAPTER ONE—WHEN TWO HEARTS MEET.

Regal leisurely walks down the flight of steps of her parent’s house with a baseball bat on her hands as she continues to overhear mutters on her way down. The outer house lights are vague, blurred and she can hardly see where she paces on, but she also can’t go back to nap until she figures out what exactly makes the sound.

She delays a bit at the edge of a pillar in her home before she glimpses out into the outer surrounding. Her curls cascades over her face as she examines the sitting room holding tightly with both hands the same bat. Regal inhales as she walks out of the pillar that she stands against for protection, she hasn’t sauntered more than two steps before she hears another sound from the sofa and she halts, her eyes widely opened.

Regal holds the bat tightly to her chest and fixes her bifocals, ready to take a swipe before a male person upsurges from the couch. The male figure sees the bat and immediately jumps off the couch where Ryle, her sister rises from too.

Regal!

Ryle bellows.

The male individual quickly covers himself with the spread on the floor as she stares back at Regal.

Is that a boy? Regal faces her sister who is in her undies.

“Oh …mom and dad leave us for just a day and you bring a boy in? Regal asks, not letting loose of the bat.

So? A girl has to have fun.

“Ryle wears a big top, tossing her male friend another as he waits anxiously on the ground.

“Fun, on our couch?! Regal’s voice gets louder.

“Ryle, I eat on that spot.” Sometimes, it falls and I pick it back! Regal almost yells.

“Well, wouldn’t be the first time sis.” Ryle says as she gets up and pulls Regal towards the kitchen counter.

Regal has a shock on her face as she stares back at the person her sister was hooking up with a moment ago.

Ryle, this isn’t right! Regal yanks her hand off from Ryle’s.

Ryle gallops water from the fridge and faces her sister back.

Then what is, it is a Friday night. “Am I supposed to snooze in like you do or do some math study.” I’m not like you, Regal. I’m wild and eccentric. Ryle says as she drops the bottle on the counter.

“He has to leave.” Regal says, her hand folding each other.

I’m not through with him! Ryle says, her hands up in the air.

“Eww.” Regal adds. You better send out your guy friend or I call mom, right now.

You wouldn’t dare! Ryle says as she folds her own hands and walks like a predator.

“Try me, Ryle Dorothy.” Regal talks like their mom.

“Oh, I try you, Regal Jennifer! Ryle spits back, like their father.

“You don’t wanna play this game with me.” Regal says.

“Neither, do you.” I already booked him for the night, he’s not going anywhere, deal with it!

He’s an human being, how do you book him? Regal asks in muddle.

“You could watch if you want to find out.” Ryle says with a smile.

“Fine, take it outside.” Regal says and storms out of the kitchen.

She stops and eyes the male in the room, don’t touch anything!

A regal exodus back into her room and slams the doors shut before she flings the baseball off and removes her glasses. She turns the lights back on and leaves her glasses on the table while she heads over to the windows of her room.

At the other end of her view is her neighbor’s house whose windows is facing right back at her, she stares at the room whose windows haven’t been opened for a long time. Regal remembers when she used to off the lights of her room just to peek at him, to catch his presence, but after everything that happened between his family, her mother’s rule to never make acquaintances with him.

She never saw the light of his room again.

Regal realizes that she’s thinking too much once again, she opens the drapes of her room slightly before untying the curtains and turning away from the window.

All of a sudden, she hears a scream from the house she’s ogling at just now and she opens her windows again to see something, but she can’t get her hands on anything. It’s still dark, there are no lights from outside and she doesn’t know what to do.

Regal hears another scream, it comes from a woman and she figures that she has to do something. To help them, but she doesn’t even know where to start. Her parent’s banned them from having any relations with this house, but she couldn’t pretend to not hear what she just heard.

She keeps hearing the muffled screams and now she can’t pretend not to hear it anymore. She picks up her phone hastily from the drawer and dials nine-one-one. Regal keeps staring at the window for the call to get in and immediately it does, her breathe drops.

This is 911, what is your emergency?

“Um, I’m Regal.” And I live at Palm Spring, I’m hearing screams from my neighbor who lives beside me. I need you to come right now.

Okay, please stay with us. The person behind the phone says.

Give us the exact address, ma’am.

I’m hearing the screams from number thirteen, Palm Springs.

“We are on our way, please stay put to wherever you are.

Yeah, Regal says as she faces the house again.

She doesn’t hear the screams anymore, but she sees someone pull a car in front of the house, and she exits the room, in order to get a clearer view.

As fast as she can she exits her house and runs from her porch where she heads over to her neighbor’s house--the door already widely opened and she hears another squeal, Regal stares at the baseball bat in her hands and takes a deep breathe, ready to burst forth into the place.

There is a car sitting in front of the house and the doors are widely opened. Regal doesn’t think again before she hurries into the house with the baseball bat, she can’t see anything yet as the sitting room is gloomy. The moment she hears muffled cries, she dashes into the alleyway that leads to a large kitchen where she first sees a woman whose has blood on her hands, a man who is on his knees.

“And lastly, Hector Wiles pointing a gun towards the man.
