Kath just came back from New York after attending the Lee Beauty Cosmetics collaboration with Maybeline Company. It was a very tough challenge for her to represent the country in an international event. She worked hard to achieved what she was today. After her break up with Jake she taught herself to be strong and to proved to him that he messed up with a wrong person. They never saw each other after that. Kath was elected as a CEO of Lee Beauty after one year of struggled.

" Hello Gwen I'm back. Meet me at the airport", she called her bestfriend. After her promotion Gwen never left her. She supported her journey of success that's why she cherished her as her loyal friend. " Okay. See you there", she said on the line.

She only had a single luggage and it was full of gifts for them. She waited Gwen on the airport lobby. Meanwhile ,she heard a loud voice just in front of her. " Kath ! ",she waved at her and she smiled waving her hand also. She walked in to help Kath with her luggage. " They were inside the taxi now. " So how's the event? ",Gwen asked her. Kath was quietly looking at the mirror. " Oh that it was so much fun!",she said. She looked tired and all she needed was to take a rest for the day but she had to go to the office.

" I'm so happy for you dear. Do you heard about Jake?",she opened up a topic of her ex. She seemed not interested to what her friend told her. " Why?", she asked her. " I heard he was promoted as a captain pilot and that bitch was with him on the picture", Gwen said. She doesn't care anymore if Jake has a girlfriend. Their relationship was over and she already forget all about him. She's a strong, independent woman today and that's all that matters.

They arrived at the office. Kath told Gwen to take care of her luggage. Many reporters were waiting for her appearance. They were outside to ask some questions about the expose' of the said event in New York . She was not in mood to accommodate all of them so she went inside. They all followed her but the security guard of the company stop them. " Mam, sir please come back another day!",he said. Kath heard a familiar voice from before. If she wasn't mistaken it was from the young boy of Boracay. She looked back to checked who it was. She was surprised to find out that he's really the guy. Her heart strated to palpitate abnormally as if there's a drummer inside it. The guy met her eyes and smiled back at her. She blushed and decided to turned back and walked straight to her office. She went on her desk and rested her back on the chair. He wasn't the guard before she went away. She was still smiling to know that her crush was working on their company. How ironic is that. She didn't realized she fall asleep .

" Hey bro I heard your ex Kath is now the CEO of Lee Beauty!", Rick told his brother Jake. They were on their balcony having a toast of wine. Rick was an architect who migrated in Barcelona to worked there. He just came back two days ago for a short vacation. Jake seemed serious when he heard his ex girlfriend name. He loved Kath so much and it was mistake that night but she didn't listened to him. Anyways it's from the past and he's happy to know that Kath was doing well. " Yes that's true. I'm happy for her", he said to his brother.

Karl was waiting for his dinner when Kath came. She was not aware of a young boy presence. She ordered beef steak and a vegetable salad. " Here is your order sir", the waitress set the food on Karl's table. He smiled to the waitress and quietly grabbed his food. At the left corner Kath was busy on her phone. Gwen texted her to come over to her place because they prepared a simple dinner for her. She's not in the mood to go somewhere and she's tired. She texted her that she couldn't come because she's not feeling well. At last her food came and it looked delicious. She was craving this food while she's in New York. She loves this restaurant because they serve good quality of delicacies to their customer. " Love it ",she said while her mouth was full of steak.While busy with her food she looked around every tables until someone met her eyes. They stared for each other for one minute trying to remember where she saw this guy. He smiled at her again and winked. She was surprised and she felt weird. She realized the guy brought his food with him and shared table with her. " What are you doing? Do I know you?",she asked him. He drew a sweet smile for her before he replied. " I'm Karl Granada and I'm a guard in your company ma'am",he formally introduced himself to her. He held his hands before her for a handshake. " I'm Kath Miller ",she said and accepted his hands. She felt uncomfortable with this guy. If he had known that Kath had a crush on him two years ago maybe he would laughed at her. He started to dig in his food and same with her. They finished their dinner without saying anything. Karl told her that he'll go ahead because his friend was waiting for him. She thought maybe it was his girlfriend. " Sure go ahead. Nice meeting you", Kath told him.

After her dinner she decided to walked for a while. She was full and she wanted to enjoy the cool air for the night. She felt empty again like always. The cold wind begun to brushed her hair from her face. She looked up the sky and it was very dark. She checked her phone and looked for the weather forecast. It was stated that a heavy rainfall would arrived any time tonight. While she's walking she hug herself because she's freezing. The raindrops started to fall on the ground. She walked faster looking for a shed to rest. She saw one and quickly run over the area. Her eyes roamed around and she saw mostly of the people outside had an umbrella with their partners. She remembered the time when Jake fetched her on their office with an umbrella while it was raining.

Three years ago

" Common let's go home. Careful you'll catch a cold babe!",Jake told her while he's waiting for her outside. He was holding a blue umbrella to protect her from the rain. " Oh thanks babe ! You're my lifesaver!", Kath told him with giggles and kissed him on his lips. Jake took her bag and they both hop inside his car. It was a perfect moment for them but he ruined everything.

" Miss wake up! ", someone was shaking her shoulders. She fall asleep on the road while waiting the rain to stop. Maybe she's too tired from the trip. " Oh sorry ...I ..I ...",Kath didn't finished talking because she fell on the ground. " Ma'am wake up! Ma'am help!", Karl called the taxi. She carried her inside and he brought her on his place.

He called Jane ,her friend to clean Kath. He went to the pharmacy to buy a medicine for fever. Her temperature was very high. He came back and Jane finished cleaning her. She was now resting on his bed. She suddenly felt the pain on her head while trying to gain consciousness. She rubbed her eyes to checked the place and she quickly rose up from the bed when she knew it's not her room. " Where am I ?", she asked Jane. She was holding a chicken soup for her to eat. " Don't worry you're here in our apartment",she told her. " Karl brought you here. You got a high fever so he went to the drugstore to buy a medicine",she added. Jane was Karl's roommate and they shared the same house but different room. She was the one who help him to work in Manila. He only treated her as a little sister nothing more. Her brother was Karl's bestfriend but he died in a motorcycle accident so he promise him to take care of her younger sister Jane.

" Where is he? So you're his girlfriend?", She asked her. Jane couldn't help to what she said. She just smiled at her but she didn't say anything. " Oh he's here. Karl she's awake. I'll leave you both to talk", she said and walked out from the room. Kath was sitting on the bed. She fix her dress to look descent. " Hi you're awake! You scared me . What if I'm not there? Eat your soup and take this pill", he said and put the med on the table near the soup.

She cleared her throat. " Sorry for the trouble. After this I'll go and pay you", she told him with sarcasm. Karl laughed at her. He sat beside her. " It's okay ma'am it's my pleasure to help you", he told her.

" Okay well thanks . Can I ask you a question?", She said . She knew that it was not a good idea to ask but she's curious.

" Is that girl ,your girlfriend?",she asked him. She thought it was embarrassing but she couldn't help it.
