Selina and Alysha went home after they visited Grace at the hospital and was having dinner together. Alysha looked happy ever since they came back, but Selina was still confused.

“Grace is such a strong kid. I am happy that she is recovering quickly. I thought we would not be able to see her again.” Alysha said while flashing a gentle and sincere smile. Selina did not respond and just smiled back when suddenly, the telephone in the living room rang.

“I’ll pick it up.” Alysha said then stood up to go to the living room. Selina, on the other hand, continued eating – still bothered about Grace.

The living room was just at the room across their dining room so Selina could still hear everything from there.

“Hello.” Alysha greeted as soon as she picked up the phone.

“Mrs. Turner, this is Emalyn. I am sorry for calling you this late.” The lady, who was on the other side of the line, said. Her voice sounded like she was troubled about something.

“Ah no, it’s okay, Emalyn. What is it? You sound so nervous. Did something happen?” Alysha asked when all of a sudden, she heard a rattling sound and faint thud like something fell on the floor from the other line. “…What is that?

“…About that Mrs. Turner, your mother-in-law started acting strange since this morning. She started screaming and trembling like she was afraid of something and she keeps on saying that someone was already here and that she has to hide.

"What?" A worried expression quickly flashed on her face. Her mother-in-law never behaved like that before when she was with her. “Why? What happened?

“I do not know exactly what happened. She was just staring at her window as usual when out of nowhere, she started being aggressive. I had injected her some tranquilizer because she was struggling to the point of hurting herself. I thought after she had calmed down, she would become okay, but she was at it again. I have already given her enough dosage and I cannot give her anymore for today.

“Oh my god.” Alysha exclaimed in disbelief and worry. “So it was her who was causing that rattling sound?

“…Yes, Mrs. Turner. I called because I wanted to know if she had behaved like this before and what were the things that you’d done to calm her down. This was my first time seeing her like this and I already did what I can, but it was still not enough.

Alysha covered her mouth with her trembling hands. “No. She never behaved like that.” She bit her lip anxiously while thinking of what was the right thing to do. “I’ll call her doctor about this and I’ll ask her to visit mom. But for the meantime, please take care of her and do not let herself get hurt.

“I understand, Mrs. Turner. I’ll wait for her doctor. Thank you.

Alysha could not do anything but to sit helplessly on the couch after she had called the doctor of Elen, and informed her about what happened. She clasped her hands together, hoping and praying that everything will be okay for Elen. Then, it was at that moment when Selina showed up in the room.

“Mom, what’s wrong?” Selina asked while looking worriedly at her mom who was so anxious and restless. She heard her sounded worried about something and came to check on her.

Alysha looked at her with tears forming on the sides of her eyes. “Oh, nothing. It was just…your grandma.

“Grandma? What happened?” Selina hurriedly sat beside her on the couch.

“According to Emalyn, her nurse, your grandma started acting strange and aggressive since this morning. I even heard how she was struggling so much from the phone.” Alysha said then held Selina’s hand tightly. “I am worried. You and Emalyn are the only relatives I have in this world. I do not want to lose any of you.

Alysha was raised in an orphanage and she did not know who her parents were. She was twenty-five when she met Selina’s father and got married to him. However, Selina’s father was murdered two years after he married Alysha and Selina was only ten years old at that time.

It was also at that time when her grandma started showing signs of Alzheimer’s disease and been in the worst condition. But Alysha took care and loved both of them more than anything in this world.

Selina’s family from her father’s side, on the other hand, did not have any other relatives according to her grandma – it was just the three of them after her father passed away. As to her biological mother, her grandma told her that she died while giving birth to her, but they did not also have any connection to her family.

Selina used to feel sad about her family and was envious of her other classmates and friends who had a complete, big, and happy family. However, as she grew older, she started to appreciate everything that she had and loved them with all her heart.

She thought that even if she did not have a family like the other children, her grandma, father, and stepmother never made her feel like she was alone and loved her so much; for her, that was enough to be thankful for.

“I want to visit your grandma tomorrow. I do not know how long I might be away, but I’ll be sure to come back here for you.” Alysha said with a faint smile on her face, trying not to make Selina sad and worried about what was happening.

Selina smiled sincerely and squeezed her mother’s hand. “It’s okay, Mom. I’ll be fine here. You can take care of grandma until she becomes better. She needs you most at this time.

“Thank you.” Alysha replied and embraced her.

“Besides, Grace will be here soon, so you don’t have to worry about me or anything.” Selina reassured her while gently patting her back.
