Alysha got worried about what happened to Selina and thought that her daughter might be experiencing severe mental stress because of the accident, and because of the worst condition of her friend, Grace.

She decided to take Selina back to their town for a week before allowing her to return to her university, but Selina refused. She said that she cannot waste any more days and missed her classes. Even though it was against Alysha’s will, she gave in and let her daughter stayed there in the city, however, she made a condition.

“Then, please allow me to stay here with you until everything become better.” She said while looking at her daughter worriedly. She was afraid that what happened to her a few days ago will occur once again.

They were in the middle of their dinner at the apartment that Selina and Grace used to live, and it has been two days since Selina was discharged. Since then, Alysha stayed with her.

Alysha knew that she was worrying to much than necessary, but the possibility of losing someone anytime who was special and dear to you, and always thinking about it every day can be hard mentally. Plus, Selina developed a trauma which made her afraid to ride on any vehicle – be it bus or taxi. Those things cannot be taken lightly, especially that she was a university student and that those things can make her more stressed than usual.

Selina looked at her mother sincerely. She knew that she was just worried about her and that she only wanted her to be okay.

It was not like Selina did not want her to be there. She honestly thought that it would be best if her mother can stay there with her, but she can’t help but worry about her grandmother.

“…How about Grandma? Who will take care of her?

“It’s okay. There is someone taking care of her and I’ll visit her every weekend. Honestly, I wanted to bring her here too, but the doctor advised that it would be best for her to stay there.

Guilt and sadness quickly flashed on Selina’s face. “Grandma…would probably be sad without you there.

Weeks past and Selina had gotten better physically and seemed like back to her usual self, but there was only one thing that kept hunting her. She cannot move on from what happened at the hospital and that experience made it hard for her to visit Grace, who was confined in that place.

It had also come to the point where she also developed a nyctophobia and would dream about that same person every night – making her not wanting to sleep. That was why Selina always asked to stay in her mother’s bedroom every night. Knowing that she was not alone calmed her down and made her feel at ease even for a little bit.

“Selina! Selina!” Alysha loudly called her daughter and rushed from the living room up to Selina’s room, while holding a phone on her hand. She then barged in her room without knocking and saw her in front of her laptop, wearing an earphone.

Selina turned at the door and saw her mother flustered while wearing a wide smile on her face. She removed her earphone and walked towards her.

“What’s wrong?” She asked looking all confused.

Alysha held her daughter’s arm and embraced her tightly while tearing up. “It’s Grace. Grace has awakened.

It was Saturday morning when the news about Grace waking up reached Selina, and she hurriedly went to the hospital to see her friend with her mother. Selina was so happy that she was tearing up on their way to the hospital, and when they got there, they were informed that Grace was already been transferred to a private room.

According to Grace’s parents, Grace woke up yesterday morning but they did not tell Selina because Grace still needed to take a rest. However, they said that Grace desperately looked for her and asked to see her.

When Selina got to Grace’s room, she was welcomed by her family – Grace’s mother, father, and younger brother; and when she saw Grace, she instantly ran towards her. However, the moment she met her eyes, she was paralyzed and fear suddenly crept into her body.

Everyone in that room turned at Selina and noticed the sudden change in her expression; the excitement on her face changed into an expression of shock and confusion. Then Grace unexpectedly flashed a mischievous grin in her lips while looking at her intently as if she was trying to see what was deep inside her – her thoughts.

“What’s wrong, Selina?

Selina could not respond for a moment and just stared at her friend’s eyes. Were her eyes…like this before? She thought to herself.

“Selina.” Alysha suddenly called then tapped her shoulder, bringing her back to her senses. “Are you that surprise and happy to see your friend again?

Everyone in that room started laughing, not because they found her funny but because they were touched by Selina’s care for Grace that she was almost speechless.

Selina looked at everyone in confusion. Everyone is acting normally…like there was nothing unusual. Maybe… she thought to herself and stared back at her friend. Maybe it was just my imagination.

She was finally able to pull a faint smile and continued walking towards her friend with a little caution. She kept her eyes at her like she was waiting for something to happen, and Grace did the same.

She stopped beside Grace’s bed – she was sitting perfectly fine as if her life was not in danger for almost a month. Like…she had almost recovered despite the severe damages that she took during the accident and the short time that had passed.

“It’s nice to see you again.” Grace said wearing the same mischievous smile.

Selina stared at the bruises on her face and the plaster on her neck before staring back to Grace’s face. “You…look perfectly fine.

Grace faintly laughed. “What are you talking about? I have these bruises all over my body.” She said, referring to her face and legs.

“No, I mean…you act and move fine. Like it doesn’t hurt you at all.

The smile on Grace’s face suddenly disappeared and her expression became cold as she stared at her deeper than before. “What are you trying to say, Selina?

Selina could not respond for a moment. She did not even know why she was saying those things to her friend who just woke up from a comatose. Am I acting like this because of that dream that I am having since the accident? That dream felt so real that I wanted to believe it was true.

Selina managed to gently chuckle. “Nothing. I did not mean anything when I said that. I am grateful and happy that you have awakened. I thought…I would not see you again. I was so worried, you know.

Grace then smiled at what she said like she was touched. Yeah. I should stop thinking about it. She’s Grace – she’s my bestfriend.

“We could understand you, Selina.” Grace’s father, who was standing at the end of his daughter’s hospital bed, butted in. “Even the doctors were surprised at her fast recovery and said it’s like a miracle. Because of that, they said that Grace might be able to go home in a few weeks if this continues.

“I-I see.

Selina was happy to hear about that news, but she did not know why she had this anxiety and fear growing inside her.
