Chapter 7

Phonophobia/Sonophobia/Ligyrophobia: Fear of noise.

She screamed.

Her scream was probably the loudest and most unpleasant noise I'd ever heard in my life. It was so high pitched and loud, i was sure the whole asylum could hear it. As if that was not enough, she didn't stop till bright red lights started flashing.

I heard shuffling before I noticed the other patients wake up. They glued their faces to the Iron bars to get a better view. Just as expected, they started displaying psychopathic behaviors. Some started screaming and banging the bars like they too wanted to escape. I noticed one licking the wall and chucking repeatedly and another lying on the floor and grinning. To sum it up, they made noise.

"Shit" I heard Lux say "For once, just listen to me!"

I was so guilty, I couldn't utter a single word. He started running to the opposite direction and I trailed after him like a lost puppy. We ran past stage four and made it to stage three on time. They too were wide awake and were making psychopathic noises.

Lux took a halt in front of me and started running back. I followed him and just like he said, no questions asked. He ran till we found a wall and hid behind it. It wasn't until then I saw that Red and her associates were marching forward.

Red stopped and placed her phone on her hear. She kept it there for seconds before yelling a 'no' and flinging phone to the wall. I heard it break as her fingers gripped her hair tight. I didn't know what the person told her but it made her mad. Really mad

"Secure the exits! 1452 is gone! I don't want her out of this asylum!" She yelled and the men left almost immediately, gripping their guns tight and taking positions at different corners.

"If she leaves, you all die!" She yelled once again, her teeth gritted in frustration. For as long as I remember red was always the boss and every one was beneath her, in as much as they worked in the asylum. They obeyed her commands without questions.

"She's coming" Lux whispered as Red started making her way towards stage five. We started moving again. Lux leaded me towards a staircase that I didn't notice was behind us. We didn't have to bother about being silent, the asylum was noisy enough to yell and get away with it.

The stairs led to another floor with a sign on the entrance that said 'stage three'. I thought a floor was for a stage only. I had to admit, stage three had a lot of patients.

The only problem was that two men were there with guns were at the entrance. That didn't look like a problem for Lux, he raised his hand and just like earlier, he started releasing golden dust. I was less surprised, it seemed everything was possible with Lux.

"Are they dead?" I asked as the men fell limply to the ground.

"Amnesia" he said and we continued our journey.

Minutes later, we got out of stage three successfully. We had a lot to deal with on the way. Truly, Red wasn't kidding when she said secure the exits. With all my years in the asylum, I never knew we had this much security. Normally, they were about five on a floor. At least, that was the amount I saw when I first got here. They were about twenty or more in stage two. The reason being that there was a door that led to the exit in stage two. When I got here, they didn't let me go through the entrance at the front. Probably because some people came here to greet their loved ones and they didn't want me to be seen by their visitors. I had go go through a door that led straight to group two. Therefore, we didn't have to bother with stage one's security.

"There's an exit that would take us outside from here" I told Lux as the last men fell to the ground "We don't need to go through stage one"

"We have to" was all he said and just like he said, no questions asked. I didn't question his decision. We went down the stairs to stage one. They were as harmless as a fly but that didn't stop them from being crazy. We heard their noise from stage two. They were the noisiest, not lower than I'd expected.

"Can you break the wall?" He asked as we got to the entrance to group one.

"Of course not. I'm not a freaking wizard like you"

"God" he sighed "I should've taken you a long time ago. This would be a lot of work"

"Why are we in stage one? We could've used the exit in stage two"

"Ignis is here"

"What's an Ignis?"

"It's a who. He came here with me and he's right behind this wall" He explained.

"You know" I flinched when I heard a voice coming from behind the wall. "I've been waiting for you guys all night and now you're gonna argue?"

"Who's that?" I asked.

"Ignis" Lux said in a bored tone. "Melt the wall"

"Caeli" Ignis said "Your voice is the most beautiful t_"

"Shut up and melt the wall Ignis" Lux said, cutting him off. He folded his arms and sighed like this was going to be the

"First, it is very rude to interrupt people but I'll let it slip away. Wouldn't want to start a scene in front of a beautiful woman" he paused "Wait, why can't you melt it?"

"It's dark here" Lux said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"You can melt it" I told Lux "Like you did up there. It's not that dark"

"Darling" Ignis said "Lux here doesn't function without light"

"Why?"

"Because as the g_"

"That's a topic for another day" Lux cut him off "We don't have time Ignis, melt the damn wall"

"Okay okay" he said "No need to bite"

As soon as those words left his mouth, the wall became warm. I knew he was going to do the same thing Lux did earlier so I moved back till I felt my back hit the other wall. Couldn't afford to get burnt.

Soon enough, I felt heat begin to radiate off the wall. It felt like I was under the afternoon sun. It really didn't take a genius to know he was already melting it from the other side.

Seconds later, the wall became bright red. It didn't take time for his hand to shoot out of the wall. His whole arm was as red as the colour of hot liquid larva. He continued this process till he made a hole large enough for his entire body to go through.

His head was the first thing I saw before his entire body. His blond hair was messy and a bit dirty. He had bright blue eyes, they looked like the colour of the ocean. His skin was smooth and white with no facial hair, unlike Lux. He was dressed in pink with a pink band around his wrist just like every other group one patient. I had to admit, he looked like a kid.

As soon as his eyes met mine, he plastered a smirk on his face. "Well, take a look at this"

"How old are you?" I blurted out "Sorry for asking"

"Nah, it's okay. I'm seventeen"

Knew it!

"Are we really talking about this now?" Lux asked "We still have a whole journey ahead of us"

"I have to admit" he started, completely ignoring Lux. "You look a lot like Queen Lyanna."

"I don't know who that is"

"Doesn't change the fact you took her beauty." he paused "Damn, you're hot"

"And you're cute"

"I'm not cute, I'm hot" he whined.

"That's enough!" Lux said and started making his way up the stairs. We followed him without questions, finding our way back to group two. We had to run without stepping on the unconscious bodies sprawled across the ground.

"Is he always this bossy?"

"You have no idea"

We went through the exit in stage two and moments later, we were out of the building.

The fresh air hit me like a pile of bricks. The air was cold and dry. I could smell the scent of fresh trees and water. For the first time in eight years, I could feel the fresh air against my skin, I could feel the sand beneath my feet, I could see the dark sky above me. It made me feel like I'd never felt this good in my life.

"You miss this, don't you?" Ignis asked.

"Yeah"

"I'm sorry to spoil this moment but we have to leave now" Lux said and before I knew it, I fell into complete darkness.
