Chapter 21

Microphobia: Fear of small things.

Lux looked just as bored as Axel did and I was frozen in a spot wondering why Ignis, a god, had turned to a huge black bird.

He flew across the room, moving from corners to corners and mostly around Axel who was not concerned about his state. He had his arms folded as Ignis moved round his head and frequently hit his shoulders.

"You move close to the girl and I'll make you worse than you imagine" Lady magic said, glaring at the black vulture, sorry, I mean Ignis.

Ignis flew towards Lux and after a cold glare from him, found his way towards my bed.

He obeyed Lady Magic and stayed at the foot of my bed, starring straight at me with his pitch black eyes.

I could literally feel him yelling in his mind but unable to let it out as words.

"You guys are just gonna stand there and watch her turn him into a bird?"

"Does it upset you?" She asked, awkwardly tilting her head to the side.

"Yes, it really does and I'd like for you to make him normal again"

"Anything for you my queen" She smiled and with a wave of her wrist, Ignis slowly turned back into human.

The hair on his skin got replaced with tanned slight brown skin, his beak replaced with mouth, his formerly pitch black eyes were back to blue and his hair blond.

He was stil crouched down like a bird and when he figured out he was human again, lost balance and fell with a loud thud.

Classic Ignis.

"Ow!"

"Moving on" Axel started and plopped down on the bed beside me "Do you remember anything?"

"First, who's she?" I asked, pointing at Lady Magic.

She didn't look surprised, taken aback or insulted with the harshness in my voice. She gave me so much respect as the queen, one I had never gotten from anyone.

I had no idea courtesy was a big deal, seeing she even starred at me like I was the president.

I guess it came from the fact I had never classified myself so important or because the boys made me feel normal and sometimes immature if Ignis was involved.

"It's a pleasure to see you again your majesty. Has Angel treated you well?"

"Um" I paused and thought about it. Was it getting a little weird or it was just me? "Yeah?"

"Greetings to you from Vide, tribe of the seers"

Then it made more sense.

Vide was one of the tribes of Anel, second in power to be precise. They possessed so much power, an hybrid with just little blood of Vide running through his veins was a lot more powerful than normal hybrids.

They had strict entry rules. Besides, I, the queen, gods, hybrids and they themselves, no one was allowed without permission.

Else a step into their lands was enough trouble to take one's life. Only the smartest could stay in there for twenty four hours before taking his last breath.

The strict policy of vide was to keep their seer safe.

She was the strongest of them all. So strong, she was only gifted once in years and if not trained well enough, could lose her life and leave the tribe without a leader.

I had met her just once, during my escape from the asylum. She came in the form of a little girl and gave me a mark engraved into arm. The mark of the seer.

It was a form of protection and through it, she could feel when I was in trouble or pain.

I, however, learned to erase it after months of training.

Not that I didn't appreciate her care, I just felt it was quite uncomfortable she felt what I was feeling. I mean, what if I was doing something secretive.

Besides, I had learn to take care of myself enough.

"I'm Natalia Mckyle, the seer"

Oh.

I sunk back into my bed in realisation.

She was the little girl from the asylum, the most powerful witch in Anel and probably the world.

That explained why she had so much power to turn a god into a bird.

"You're the one who marked me?"

"Yes, your highness"

"It's Caeli" I corrected "And thanks for the mark stuff"

"I live to serve you, it's my job"

Wow, she gave me so much respect and honor, I had never felt so worshipped in my life.

It made me feel like the queen I truly was and damn, it was the best feeling in the world.

"Do they also live to serve me?" I asked, referring to the boys.

I heard Axel sigh beside me and Ignis, who was still sitting on the floor, roll his eyes.

"Yes, all of them"

"Then they're not doing their jobs properly. Besides Axel but he doesn't refer to me as your highness_"

"Caeli" Axel cut me off "Do you remember what happened to you?"

Axel's decision to change the topic brought an atmosphere of seriousness into the room.

They were all curious to know what happened to me. Including Lux who was still leaning against the door with his face void of emotions.

His hair looked messier than before as a result of him running his fingers through it repeatedly. He was so quiet, I had not heard a word from him since I regained consciousness.

He wasn't the type to talk too much besides his usual arguments with Ignis which was usually Ignis's doings.

Moving on, I could remember everything clearly. How I felt, what I heard and how I passed out in the elevator.

It was an experience I couldn't forget, probably one of the most uncomfortable and painful situations ever.

"Yeah" I paused "I remember everything"

"What do you think caused it? Did you panic?"

"I don't know, maybe"

"Have you ever felt that way before?" Lady Magi_ I mean, Natalie piped in.

"No, just heard a voice in my head, calling my name as if warning me or something. I guess it's a warning against Xelexia or something. I do remember I used the hear the voice when I was younger but it stopped once I got into the asylum. Then, it was just voices but this time, it came with pain"

"Your mother was trying to communicate with you" Natalie said "It's like a connection between a mother and her child but stronger"

I wasn't surprised my mother had been in my head since when I was a little girl and had been responsible for the voices I heard while I was younger.

The smooth calm voice belonged to her and she was trying to warn me against the dangers that could've happened.

"So she panicked. I didn't"

"Most precisely"

"We could've taken them down, I could've taken them down_"

"You're not prepared enough" Lux cut me off, finally saying something for the first time "You could've taken them down but then she'll send more and even if you did take all her army down, she'll find her way to you in seconds and you'll have to fight her"

"So what if I did fight her?" I asked "I've been training for moths, you've been training me and I'm strong enough to take her down"

"You're not" He said sharply "Yeah, you can grow plants and tall trees, manipulate the wind, heal the sick and shit but you're not strong enough. She'll end up killing you"

"No, she wouldn't. You just don't believe me"

"Believe comes with hope. There's no hope you can do this and if you think we'll be there to stand by your side during the war, you're wrong Caeli, wrong."

Tearing my gaze away from Lux, I starred at Axel for confirmation. I waited to hear a word from him, a point against Lux.

Like he always did, having a solution to literally every problem but all he did was to look away.

He didn't believe I could do it.

I brought my gaze to Ignis, waiting for one sarcastic reply to Lux but once he saw I was starring, he also looked away.

He didn't believe either.

"I wouldn't be there, Axel wouldn't, Ignis wouldn't neither would McKyle. It's just you against her and with your low level of experience, you're just going to get yourself killed and leave Anel to face it's doom. We all have done so much to get to this stage. We've been watching you ever since you were young, we knew when you quit church, quit school, went through those damn exorcisms, get arrested for a crime you didn't commit, get into the asylum, we've watched you for years, waiting patiently for the time and I'm not gonna let you ruin that. You've only been through a year of training and you suddenly think you're strong enough. Try to fight me and I'll take you down in a minute and you suddenly think you're good enough to end Xelexia? You wouldn't make it to her room_"

"That's enough" Natalie said, raising her hand to cut him off. "Tomorrow morning, six sharp. Lux against the queen."
