When Love Hurts

Prologue

Khrystyna Clemons and Tanya Wilkins have been rivals since middle school, vying for the cute boy in class. Now that they are in high school, they are once again competing for the same boy, Marshall Watkins. But in all the drama, they don’t see the real damage being done by Jerry Chandler, who decides to strike back after being bullied by Khrystyna and Tanya and the other classmates throughout the years. 

Chapter 1

Khrystyna Clemons couldn't believe that Tanya Wilkins was going it again with her boyfriend, Marshal Watkins. Just like her 13th birthday party when Tanya showed up with Jeremiah Taylor.

“Marshall, can I have a word with you?” Khrystyna said as she walked up to him and Tanya Wilkins.

“Sure, Khrystyna. What do you want?”

“What are you doing with her?” Khrystyna demanded from Marshall, giving Tanya a dagger-like look.

“Tanya needed some help with her math and I was helping her with it.”

“I’ll bet she needed the help!” Khrystyna said, as she continued giving Tanya glaring looks.

“I really needed the help, Khrystyna,” Tanya said, giving her pitiful look. “I am failing math, and you know how my parents get when I receive a bad grade?!” Tanya pleaded with her.

“I don’t care to listen to your so-called schemes just to get my boyfriend.”

“Khrystyna, I’m not trying to land your boyfriend.”

“Oh, save it for the birds, you ruthless bitch!”

“Marshall, when you come to your senses, you can give me a call. Or, you can play these sick games with her. If you do decide to play her sick games with her, we’re through.”

Khrystyna walks away alone and goes to her biology class. “I can't believe it is happening again.” Khrystyna sobs silently.

Tanya, feeling victorious over her triumphant win with Khrystyna, pretends to be hurt by Khrystyna’s outburst. She sidles up to Marshall and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Tanya couldn't believe how easy it was to steal Marshall from Khrystyna, just like when she managed to get Jeremiah to go with her to Khyrstyna's 13th birthday party back in 8th grade.

Meanwhile, Jerry Chandler was watching the dramatics between Khrystyna, Tanya and Marshall…it was the perfect distraction to keep the students at Bayview High School from discovering what he was really up.

Chapter 2

Jerry continued his plans to ruin Prom Night at the end of the year. It would be perfect to get back at his classmates for all the bullying he suffered at their hands. The one night they would all be looking forward to was going to be squashed! Jerry couldn’t wait to bring down his terror on everyone!

Meanwhile, Khrystyna felt alone without Marshall. Why did he have to help Tanya. She didn’t need his help. She was only using him. Why couldn’t he see that? Why does all the pretty, popular girls get to take a guy away from the unpopular girls? Khyrstyna's thoughts are interrupted by Tyler, one of the geeky kids at school who has a crush on her.

“Khrystyna, why do you look so down?”

“Oh hi Tyler,” Khrystyna replies, looking away from him. “It’s nothing you would understand.”

“Why don’t you try me?”

“You’ve never been in love with anyone, so you couldn’t possibly give me advice on this.” Khrystyna said, unaware of Tyler’s attraction to her.

“Who let you down this time? Marshall?” Tyler replied, even though he was deeply hurt by Khrystyna's remark.

“Just leave me alone. I don’t want to talk about this with you, you geek!”

“Why are you treating me like this, Khrystyna? We’ve been friends since kindergarten.”

“You’re nothing but a geek and I don’t want to be seen at this school with you. You’ll ruin my reputation. Now go!”

“Fine, if that’s the way you want it! I won’t tarnish your image with my geekiness! This friendship is over! Why don’t you go back to all your popular friends!”

With that, Tyler stormed off. Khrystyna felt so bad treating Tyler that way, but it couldn’t be helped. She just couldn’t be seen with him. What would the other students say if she hung out with him? They would call her weird and a wimp. She just couldn’t have that, no matter how long they’ve been friends.

Tanya couldn't win Marshall this time. . .not after the way she landed Jeremiah when she brought him to her 13th birthday party. Khrystyna would make sure Marshall was hers before Tanya got her hands on him.
