06: His Little...

"We'll just have one scoop of vanilla ice cream, please." Alyona ordered to the guy behind the ice cream bar. As we wait for him to give us our order, I was thinking if this is the right time to talk.

"So, Demyan's birthday is in a month." I begin the talk. Alyona turn to me as I'm starting the talk. "Are you planning to throw him a birthday party?" I ask nervously. I don't know if a one year old baby should be thrown a birthday party. He won't even remember it, right?

"He's one year old. What do you think he will do in the party?" She ask me back. I got tongue tied when she throw the question at me. I mean, she kinda intimidate me for some reason. I open my mouth to talk but nothing come out. Thank God the guy saved me from that scary moment.

"Here you go." Alyona take the cup of ice cream and pay for it. I was about to stop her when she stopped me first.

"This is my ice cream. Look at your son. You don't even realise that he's asleep." She pointed at Demyan who is soundly asleep on my shoulder. He's so quiet and peaceful when he is sleeping. There's no pulling and demanding little guy, that's why I didn't noticed him falling asleep. I was too catch up in the moment of how am I going to convince her to come and have a talk with me. I prefer to do the talk in private, preferably in my house.

"I'm so sorry."

"For what?" That's a good question. I don't even know what I am sorry for. There's so many things for me to be sorry for, but that couldn't be said specifically one, because there's many more than just one.

I wrapped my free hand to her waist and pull her to walk. The entire world knows that I'm not a loyal man to his wife. Sergei make sure that the news not only just hit the island of Italy, but worldwide. He won't be satisfied until his daughter get what she deserved and she deserves the world by her feet.

As we walked out of the ice cream parlor, some eyes watched us curiously. That some people probably still remember what they read. But we both didn't pay much attention to them.

"I'll drive you back. Where do you stay?" I ask her as we keep walking towards my car. Abbe is stand by the car, waiting for us and he opened the door for us before we get closer to the car. I let her get in the car first and then I followed after her. Abbe closed the door after we got in, then he get in the car behind the wheel, glance to us silently asking where we are going.

"Rome." I'm taken aback when she said that. Abbe start the car even though I haven't decided where we are going. We definitely are not going to Rome by a car.

"You came here with Sergei and Artur." I stated. I reposition Demyan's body so he lay on his back on my lap and my body as a surface.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" I turned to look at her with a confusion look, but I'm far from being confused.

"Do you want me to drive you back to Rome? It will took us more than eight hours to get there. I'm not leaving you in the store waiting for Sergei." I said it first. I know that was what she's gonna say. There is no way in hell that I'll be leaving her alone waiting for his father to return from the business dinner. It will at least take her two hours to wait for him. I know how a business dinner usually go.

"Come to the house. Demyan can have a nice rest there. I don't want his little bonds hurting and cracking when he wakes up." I suggested, but little did she knows that was the plan all along. There's no other way for me to convince her to come to our house if I don't use Demyan as the bait.

"Can you stop saying 'his little' in everything. He's a baby, not an abnormal kid." She scold me.

"I-i-i," She stopped me, seeing me didn't know what to do. I am lost at words. When it comes to baby, especially my baby, I don't know what to do. To me, Demyan is the fragile and precious thing in my life. So that makes me guarded up about him and everything about him.

"Come to the house, please. Have some time to relax. I know you've been working non-stop and on top of that, you have to take care of Demyan. You need some time alone, I'll take care of him. You always love the beach at night, the sound of the wave calm you." I keep digging and digging to find a reason for her to agree to come by the house. Once we get there, I know I can make her stay without his father and brother shadowing us. She loves the house, that's the only reason why I built the house. My present for her on our marriage.

"Tell Viene to make a room for Demyan." I smiled happily upon hearing her respond.

"Okay." I fisted out my phone from my pants pocket and call the house phone still with a smile on my smile. Even Viene can tell how my voice sounded different. I didn't tell her the detail, all I told her is to get a room ready by the master bedroom. Viene is a house taker in our house ever since it built. So, she knew everything the world didn't see.

All the way to our house, I couldn't contain the joy I feel. But I don't want to intoxicating her by being this happy me. She's not impressed with me and I know there is so many things that I should have done for her to be the best man possible and show her that it was never a mistake for marrying me. But for now, I want to bring the old Alyona back, the Alyona I know from the bottom of my heart.

"No birthdays for him until he knows people and learn to talk properly." Alyona said. Being a mother makes her more stern than before, it makes me somehow scared of her.

"He knew me." I defended my son. He did knew me before I even introduce myself to him.

"You are his father." She annoyedly said.

"But he never know me. I bet he never see my picture as well or you, telling him about me being his father, Zhizn moya." I said in disappointment. I really want my son to know that he is loved by his parents, especially his father. I don't want to become unknown to him.

"Don't you think you've talked enough?!" She raised her voice, looked at me like she's done with me. Did she really hate me that much? I shut my mouth for the rest of the ride to the house.
