Chapter 7

Spending nearly an entire month within the forest together, the duo had gotten closer after they closed that episode of Servio’s outburst. As usual, the silver-headed youth took advantage of Solia’s leniency towards him as he gradually got her more accustomed to their intimacy, successfully brainwashing her that it was normal for people to interact like that.

Moreover, amidst their journey, Solia successfully sealed the tracking function of the marks found covering her jade-like torso, and she successfully masked her crimson irises with a lighter shade of red, a few degrees paler than their previous color.

When the pair arrived in town, they immediately gathered the attention of the townsmen in a mere instant. With their enchanting appearance and notable bearing, one can easily imagine just how many heads turned their way just to catch a glimpse of the beautiful duo walking side by side whose presence was not lesser than the other’s.

Noticing the predatory gazes of the men around them directed at Solia, Servio smoothly wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him as he sent a menacing glare to the beasts eyeing his treasure.

Meanwhile, Solia simply continued looking around with sparkling eyes without noticing anything amiss with Servio’s actions as she had been convinced by the youth that this was the normal level of intimacy between mortals.

“Hey Master, do you wanna know how the beast kin usually greet their folks?” The silver-headed youth randomly brought up the topic as they stopped by a stall to buy themselves a snack.

“Hm? Sure” Turning her attention to the youth, away from the snacks, Solia stood still as Servio suddenly leaned forward and lightly nuzzled his nose against hers, successfully arousing a series of shrieks from young girls belonging to the beast kin around them.

Feeling no discomfort from his actions, Solia simply chuckled at the cute gesture and patted the Servio’s head in response before she directed her attention back to their snacks.

“Master~ don’t you think the way they greet each other is quite cute? Why don’t we greet each other like this for our hellos, goodbyes, good mornings, and good nights?

Servio took advantage of the fact that the girl had shown no signs of displeasure from the earlier gesture and casually offered as he wrapped his arms around her waist before taking a bite of the snack she held in her hand over her shoulder.

Sensing nothing wrong with his suggestion, Solia easily nodded in response before finishing the snack the youth had taken a bite on. Then, feeling victorious of having successfully marked the beauty his own in public, Servio directed a smirk at those whose gazes towards Solia had been passionate at the start as their eyes slowly dimmed with gritted teeth.

Oh Master…ignorance really is your best trait…

What Solia hadn’t known was that the nuzzling of noses between two beings generally signifies an intimate relationship between the two and a way of showing adoration amongst the beast kin.

Yes, once again, the beautiful prodigy had been easily fooled by this sly puppy by her side.

After their tour to gain a general understanding of the town, the pair stopped by an inn by the end of the day to reserve themselves a room with two separate beds and a washroom before they sat by one of the tables found in the lobby to have their dinner. Beside the duo’s table were rowdy mercenaries who merrily drank as they gossiped to one another in a voice audible to the whole tavern.

“Hey hey, did you hear the latest news released by the Count?” One of the burly men amongst the lot nudged the figure of another man settled beside him.

“Do you mean the one about the ‘Sorceress’ Death’?” Hearing those keywords, Servio’s ears perked up as he directed a questioning look towards the beautiful girl seated before him who was blissfully enjoying her meal with a pair of brightly gleaming eyes.

“Yeah-! That one! I heard that she died from using a forbidden spell as she single-handedly battled against that kingdom who allied with the demons for the war against the empire!” The mercenaries continued chattering on without a care in the world in their drunken state.

“What was that spell again? Oh right, it was the ‘Black Hole’ one! Just who did she think she was to have actually used that? We were lucky enough that her spell hadn’t gotten out of hand and swallowed up the whole damn world!” One of the men slammed down his wooden mug filled of beer as terrifying look emerged from his rigid face.

Stupefied at the new information he happened upon during the first meal they ever had in this town, Servio’s mouth dumbfoundedly slightly hung open as he continued staring at the girl who continued eating happily without a pause, as if the conversation next to them had absolutely nothing to do with her.

After she had finished her meal, Solia finally noticed the look the youth had been giving and signalled for them to head back to their rooms in which Servio all-too-happily complied with to get an explanation from her.

“Remember that time when you were wondering how I ended up in the desert?” Solia reminded him as they settled themselves on the edge of her bed.

“Yeah, is it related to what they were talking about?” As he questioned back, Solia nodded in response before explaining.

“What they were saying were partially true. I did use the spell but I was able to control it due to my affinity with magic. Moreover, I chose that exact spell to cover my dying ruse. I just didn’t expect a teleportation trap to be set by one of the deceased magicians to be right in front of the crater I ended up making, so when I stepped forward, I was sent into that desert I had no idea of.

Solia sighed once again at the memory of her blunder. In contrast to that, Servio was secretly sending his thanks to the deceased magician.

GOOD JOB DEAD MAGICIAN! I’LL MAKE SURE TO SEND MY THANKS TO YOUR SPIRIT SOMEHOW WHEN I EVER VISIT OUR RACE’S DOMAIN!

Mentally giving a thumbs-up to the magician’s trap, Servio immediately switched topics before his thoughts seeped out.

“Oh right Master, according to our deal, I’d only be staying with you till I find a place to settle at for my own peaceful family that I’ll be making right?

Receiving a small nod in agreement from the beauty beside him, he brusquely leaned towards her with a grin, successfully closing the distance between them.

“Then…if I ever find the lady I’d want to spend the rest of my life with, will you support me?

“Of course” Solia unhesitatingly answered within a split second, not ever considering otherwise as she had already started seeing the silver-headed youth as one of her own.

With all the knowledge about the outside world that the youth had patiently taught her, this was the one of the least that she could do for him…was what Solia had thought when Servio brought up the question.

Hearing the girl’s response, a sly glint flashed through the youth’s hazel eyes before returning to their usual state in a split second.

“Thank you Master! I’ll always keep your words in mind so you better not break your promise, alright?” Servio’s grin grew wider before he suddenly stood up.

“I want to check some stuff out in town by the way so you should rest ahead of me for tonight, Master. You must be pretty tired after all, especially with how long our journey took to reach this place” Walking over to his bag that was originally only filled with magic devices, he pulled out a delicate nightgown reaching one’s calves before bringing it over to Solia whose eyes innocently followed him around.

“I bought this earlier in town in one of the stores we stopped by. Master you should go take your bath now and change into this so you can have a good night’s rest!” Without even waiting for Solia’s response, Servio lifted her off the bed and took her into his arms before walking over to the washroom’s door frame and dropping her off there.

“I’ll be heading out now so I can return earlier, good night Master!” The silver-headed youth promptly leaned his head down towards the girl’s delicate features to nuzzle his nose against hers before walking out of the room.

When Solia was left standing by the washroom alone, she lightly rubbed her nose with one of her delicate fingers before a small smile appeared on her face.

Meanwhile, Servio who stood by a dark corner a distance away from the inn suddenly disappeared from sight.
