03.The Worst First Impression Ever

Just like I promised Becky, I went to dinner with her. We had a lovely night. She was telling about her future plans in New York. Back in college, Becky had majored a diploma in Interior Designing. She said she had applied for a job here in New York. I couldn't explain how happy I was to hear that, my best friend was moving to the same city where I live. I mean that's the dream, right? I was more excited for her that I almost forgot to tell her what had happened in the park today.

Later that night, I told her what happened today and she really was surprised to hear that.

"So do you think I should go?" I asked looking confused.

"Of course, You should!" She exclaimed.

"But.." I started.

"June. You need this job more than anything right now!" She stated the obvious.

"You are right!" I said and smiled.

"Alright... I gotta take off now but let me know how did your interview go!" She said and enclosed me with a hug.

"Will do.." I replied instantly.

The next morning was intense, I knew my interview was at 9.30 am but I was kinda running late. Honestly, I am not really good at being punctual actually. It's like a disease since I was a child. I was always late to school when I was a kid, I guess that awful habit got stuck with me. Anyway, I knew my boss wouldn't be happy with me being late, I knew he hated tardiness. And me running late for the interview will not exactly make a good first impression. I got ready as fast as I could. I wore a white blouse and a pencil skirt, I straightened my hair and left it loose. I tried my best to look as professional as possible. I grabbed my files, keys and my purse and rushed out of my apartment.

I grabbed a Cinnamon latte on the way to the office. I didn't exactly knew the address so I was driving with the help of GPS. Take a right the recorded voice instructed me. I did the same.

As I took a right, I found a gigantic gate with a huge signboard with big R & H as Logo followed by the name Rick & Hunt publishing. As I drove through that huge gate, I was stopped by the security. He asked me a few questions regarding my visit there, after answering his questions he let me pass through. I parked my car and I rushed my way into the building. As I was walking down the entrance, I was watching that majestic building awestruck. That place was busy as a beehive. Everyone was roaming around doing something. I approached the receptionist for help. She said the ground floor for visitors and for people who wanted to make appointments. She said I had to go to the main office for my interview.

Great, where is that now? I wondered.

She asked my name, she quickly typed something on her computer. After a few seconds, she said my name was on the list and I can proceed to 87th floor.

Whoa.. What?

I felt like an alien from out of space in that place, but I tried to find my way in. I reached the elevator and found a bunch of people were already waiting. My interview was at 9.30 and I still had only fifteen minutes to spare. I looked around for an empty elevator and I did find one. I rushed towards that elevator, sipping my latte. I ran frantically towards the elevator with a five-inch heel on. And then...

Bam! I think I hit someone. I felt like I crashed on a granite wall or something. My vision was a bit hazy and to top it all. My coffee was split all over me. Oh my god! my shirt and Oh my god! The interview, I was starting to have a panic attack.

Shit, shit, shit. I am doomed.

I was about to curse that stupid moron who wasn't watching where he was going. Suddenly I saw a group of people in black suits rushing towards him. Why were they acting strange? I wondered. Those guys were shooting daggers at me. One among that black suit guys started was asking me something. But I was too focused glaring at the guy who made me spill my coffee. I couldn't see his face cause those back suit guys were hiding my view. Although I could see his eyes. They were in the colour of the deep blue ocean, there was something about him that made me think I had met him somewhere before. It was again kind of a Deja Vu, yeah I am having a lot of those nowadays. His eyes were burning with anger, I guess I split some coffee on him too. His eyes never left me. He was eyeing me as if a hawk was eyeing its prey. Suddenly there was a huge crowd in front of the elevator, there were whispers everywhere and everyone was looking at me as if I had committed a murder.

Who was that guy? It's not like he is the CEO of this building! Why were people making such a big fuss about this? I thought for a minute but then the realization hit me on my face like a hard rock. Oh, no... Maybe he was the famous Derrick Hunt.

Crap! Now I am doomed for real.

"What's wrong with you miss? Why were you walking towards the private elevator?" One of the guys in the black suit asked me.

Ah..private elevator, that explains why it wasn't crowded.

"Uh...I didn't knew it was a private elevator!" I mumbled slowly.

Why was I mumbling? It was an honest mistake. Maybe I was scared of those blue eyes that were burning with cold fire. His eyes were shooting lasers at me.

"If that's the case, you must apologize to our master!" He said looking serious.

Master? What the hell?

"Are you guys servants or something?" I asked swiftly.

I noticed that guy clench his fist in anger.

"We are the bodyguards of Mr.Derrick Hunt! " Another black suit guy said proudly.

Seriously? He may be Derrick Hunt or whatever but he can't even talk to people normally like ordinary people. Why does his bodyguard do all the talking?

"Uh-huh, and why does Mr Derrick Hunt need a spokesperson?" I asked with an evil smirk on my face.

"He doesn't waste time talking to ordinary people like you!" That guy spoke coldly.

"Now apologize!" He commanded.

The hell I will! I agree I didn't know about the private elevator but he was also equally guilty with the coffee splash.

"I can't... He was the one who walked into me!" I said without hesitation.

"In-fact... He is the one, who should be apologizing!" I added.

"Excuse me miss?" That guy asked looking shocked.

"You are excused!" I replied with a sarcastic smirk.

"I do not apologize to anyone because I am never wrong!" Their so-called master is otherwise known as Mr Derrick Hunt finally spoke.

His words were cold as ice. At last Derrick Hunt, himself decided to join the conversation. Ha! How about that? I guess I'm not that ordinary I guess, I thought as a huge grin cheeped on my face. There was a few seconds of silence and an awful lot of tension. How could someone be so arrogant? It's impossible for someone to always right.

"Ah. Too bad!" I said trying to sound as cold as him and I turned away and started walking away swiftly.

"Did I say you could leave?" He yelled.

His voice echoed into the distance, I must admit that caused the chills to creep up my spine and I was kinda scared there for a second. The whole room was pin-drop silent. I slowly turned towards him. I didn't want him to think I was intimidated by his little stunt. I stood there bravely still only facing his eyes.

"You didn't... But that doesn't mean I can't!" I replied and walked out of the place.

The whole room stood shocked and the only sound people heard was my heels tapping on the ground as I walked towards the exit.

So that was my first encounter with the devil himself. He was the most arrogant person anyone can ever meet. I prayed to God for saving me from taking that stupid job of his company. I can barely stand him for five minutes and working for him is entirely a different thing. I didn't regret not attending the interview, I was happy that I dodged a bullet. He was the CEO of that company but he was acting as if he was the God. I wonder how people work under him. For the first time ever I hated someone so much. I mean I had never seen him or known him personally but I hated him a lot. I thought about what Lisa said and realized she wasn't exaggerating, after all, he was really like a Dragon. I still can't forget the way he looked at me. And what's with bodyguards? I mean common I split coffee on him accidentally, it's not like I threw acid on his face. Anyway, that coffee spoiled my shirt more than his. He owes me 200 dollars. I brought that shirt for his stupid interview. Heather would feel disappointed if I told what happened, maybe if her son was there. He wouldn't have let the situation get so out of control. I am sure her son was as sweet as her. He must be real sweetheart, I thought Uh..there is no point on dwelling on the past now. I should start looking for another job now. It's New York City, there are millions of other companies. I would look for a better job in a better company which has less obnoxious boss than Derrick Hunt. Oh god. Why can't I stop hating him! He was insufferable.

He was like hooked on my brain. I didn't hate him actually, I loathed him! Yeah, I rather stay unemployed rather than working for that devil.
