Chapter 3

Leon

I was very stressed, and the only person who could stand me was my secretary.
I think she even deserves a bonus for putting up with me so long.
— What happened now, Senhor Vitorino?
she asks me, with a calm I envy.
“Trouble, Vanessa, as usual!
I say, wanting to reassure her. She was the only woman who didn't try to bed me or vice versa. I think she was immune to me. My cock never lifted for her in greeting. I think I'm getting really old.
“So today you got the call from Miss Munhoz,” she says, and I groan silently.
This woman really became a pest.
— What she said?

— So you can call her — Vanessa shrugs, as if she thinks it's normal.

'I'll be back later!
' — but I wouldn't give a shit about that crazy woman. She really kept her promise to make my life hell. Now the madwoman said she thought I had gotten her pregnant.
— Well, you have a meeting with the chocolate suppliers in a little while via Skype — I hear Vanessa talking, and I'm thinking about how to get rid of Laura.

“Damn, I forgot about that,” I say, already stressed by this.

- But I do not!

I smile.

“OK, what else do we have today?
I ask, wishing I were back in my bed.
— I've already arranged everything with the buffet to make the fraternization dinner for the end of the year.

— Serious?
I look at her in astonishment.
— Seriously, everything is organized for the next week, the Christmas baskets and also the chocolate ones are being organized — she goes on talking about what I had for today and also what was good.
I was still in shock at her for having resolved faster than my old secretary would take weeks to do.
"My God, woman, if you weren't my secretary I'd marry you!
"
“No thanks,” she jokes, and I laugh.
I know Vanessa is dating a doctor.
"Wow, you broke my heart!
" I joke, winking.
— Oh I know!
- She laughs, and continues: - I'm not your type, and even if I was very happy with my boyfriend.
“Wow, there's no way to compete like that,” I joke again.

Vanessa was the only woman I liked who didn't want to spread her legs for me to fuck.

"Vanessa, how long have you been working for me?
"
— Hmm… — she looks thoughtful and then opens a smile: — It's been a year and a half, why?

'Not at all!
' Just curiosity. So, are you bringing someone from your family?
"I'm seeing if I can convince my sister to come!
"
— Serious?
I would very much like to meet you.
“Let's see if she comes, she's a bit of a recluse.

"Well, let me know, I'll have a basket made for her too.
"
— Oh, don't worry, no, Duda eats my chocolates — he laughs.
— Well, I'll go to my table, and you make the call soon, before your suppliers and directors get pissed at you — she goes back to playing, and leaves me alone.
I open my Skype, and it doesn't take long for the directors to appear, and we start talking about my chocolate company.
Thank God I have great sales.
Some hours later…
I stretch out in the chair.
It was all sore. I hadn't eaten anything, and it wasn't long before Vanessa came in with my lunch. My mouth waters.
"Vanessa, I need to marry you!
" — I play again when I see that she had ordered white rice with chicken stroganoff and potato sticks and an orange juice.
“I already told you I don't want to marry you,” she counters, ironically, and leaves the food.
I return to the table and attack; God, that was so good.
It doesn't take long and I'm done with the food and juice.
I get up and go to the bathroom, where I have a toiletry bag with my personal things.
I go back to my desk and continue working until the end of the day.
I am interrupted again when Vanessa comes in to let me know she was leaving.
'I'm coming too!
' - I warn, and then we say goodbye. I stay in the office a little longer. When I leave, instead of going after a “skirt tail”, I go home.
The company I am president of was founded by my father, now retired.
He always said that chocolate is more than an aphrodisiac, it's love, and when you love someone you give them chocolates. That's how he met my mother, giving her chocolates as a gift.
I get home soon and, as usual, Olivia has already prepared dinner.
I go up to my room and take a long shower. As I'm getting out of the shower, my cell phone rings. I notice it's my mother and answer.
"Hi mom, good night!
" — the greeting.
— Unnatural child!
she complains, and I laugh.
"Mom, for God's sake, I saw you over the weekend!
" I reply, still laughing.
"Son, I miss you!
" she says, in a complaining tone.
— I love you too!
I answer, trying to figure out why she was calling me.
— My son, you must find yourself a beautiful wife!
—here she came again with that story.
"Mother, you know I'm never getting married!
" I remember her, and I think I'll never love anyone either.
— My son, listen to what I'm going to tell you!
It won't take long and you will soon meet a good person and you will surely fall in love.
"Mother, I wasn't made for love!
" I confess, feeling for the first time a loneliness.
— Nonsense, my son!
Everyone was made to love, and you will love someone too someday.” She speaks with such conviction, I almost believe her.
