Long Odds

" Hobi, you cant leave today, its you who need to decide not me", says hoshik's sister who was following him in his room while he was busy collecting his files and tucking them into his office bag, once he was done he turns to face her

"I am sorry noona but this meeting is really important and it's a really a big deal for our company and I cant leave kijoon and yujun hyung alone to deal with it"

He walks out of his room with his sister on his tail

"but hobi, its to see the person with whom you might have to spend the rest of your life with, how can you not meet him yourself"

Hoshik stops on his track making his sister bump into him, he turns to face her and holds onto her shoulder and sighs

"noona, you know me better than I know myself, I am sure that if you like him then I will like him as well"

"but hobi..."

But hoshik cuts her off "noona please, hmmm, ok?"

Jaehee sighs "fine, ok...but its really rude you know"

"I am pretty sure that he is aware of the fact that being a CEO of KYH industries is no joke and such things are bound to happen and if he cant understand such a small thing then he is not good for me, its as simple as that"

With that being said he descends down the steps of his mansion to leave for his office while his noona just stands on the stairs sighing

"what am I supposed to tell him"

Hoshik wasn't always like this, if you were to meet him 2 years ago you would be surprised to see a very happy and always smiling hoshik, spreading his charm to those who are around him, but seems like life had different plans for him, because that smile was swept away from his face on that day when Jaehee received a call from the hospital stating that their parents met with an accident and were not able to survive and that was the last day of hoshik being hobi for the world, from then on he is Jung Hoshik, a shrewd businessman who never takes anyones' shit. Their sweet sunshine was gone, he has disappeared behind the clouds.

"Kim Taeyang, I swear to god, if you won't wake up within next 5 seconds, I am going to throw this saxophone of yours out of the window", says a very frustrated Kim Seokjin, who is also our sleeping beauty's brother, who has been trying to wake his dongsaeng for the last fifteen minutes

"ahhh, hyung" a whining, still half sleeping Taeyang sits up on his bed, still hugging onto his pillow

"hyung, why cant you just go and talk to mina noona over the phone and plan your wedding instead of disturbing my beautiful sleep and put my saxy down"

He steps out of his bed and snatches his saxophone from his hyung's hands and gently places it onto its stand as if he was handling a baby, well it was his baby

Seokjin scoffs at his antics

"why do you even have that, when you don't even know how to play it"

Taeyang looks back at his hyung with a very determined look

"I will learn one day, you just wait and watch hyung"

Suddenly, as if remembering something, Seokjin claps his hands and jumps towards taeyang only to hold him in a head lock

"ahh hyung"

"heard that you are going to meet your first ever candidate for the positon of your husband"

Taeyang just nods and tries to give him his best smile which didn't go unnoticed by jin

"hey, you don't wanna meet him, you are not happy with this, do you want me to talk to mom"

Asks jin with concerned laced in his voice and his headlock long forgotten and was replaced by a soothing hand on his young brother's shoulder

"no hyung, its ok"

Taeyang tries to reassure his hyung because he knows, no matter how much he might hate this arrangement, he doesn't really have a choice, yes his hyung would be on his side but he doesn't want to trouble his hyung with anything, he was the trouble child of the family while seokjin has always been the golden child and he wanted to keep it that way, and he can still remember his mother's word from last night when she apparently wanted to spend some "quality time" with her youngest son.

"how are you taeyang"

His mother asks him with concern nowhere in the vicinity of that sentence and taeyang was not affected by that because that's the only tone that his mother uses with him

"I am good mother"

He says with a nod as they approach and sit on the opposite sofa chair lined on the patio

"you know how I want you to get married before your hyung, right?"

Taeyang just gives a nod because he already knows where this conversation is headed

"it will be better for you that way as well"

Taeyang scoffs internally "more like better for the company who needs a very solid support at present to save it from bankruptcy and he knows that his mother approved of his hyung's relationship because mina noona was the only daughter of one of the business tycoons of Korea, he can't be bothered with the name coz business and politics were not his cup of tea.

Now he was definitely aware of where this conversations was headed and he knows that it involves another well known name from the business industry.

In between his thoughts he didn't listen to half of whatever his mother was talking about, not that he cared but it would have been nice if he heard the name of the person who could be his potential husband but the only sentence he has managed to hear was about being ready by 5 pm and with that his mother walked back into the house without sparing a single glance to him

"tae, you just have to tell me once and I will take care of everything else, you know that hyung can do that right?"

Taeyang just looks up at his hyung who was just a bit taller than him and smiles

"I know hyung, but really its better this way...who knows I might be meeting the love of my life"

He winks playfully at his hyung and jumps towards the bathroom while seokjin just stands there smiling at his brother's silliness but he was well aware of the fact that it was just a façade to hide his pain which he as an elder brother failed to erase.

He couldn't really comprehend what was their mother's problem with taeyang because he can never do anything for people to hate him, he was so pure and innocent that sometimes seokjin feels like keeping his younger brother inside a shell to protect him from this dubious world but he was never able to do anything, not when tae was sent to daegu at the age of 8 to be raised by their grandparents, not when his mother stopped visiting him as soon as she learned about his preferences, not when his mother didn't allow him to pursue his love for music and not now when he was brought back to this household just because some rich guy was looking for a suitor and suddenly their mother was not homophobic and deep down inside he wanted tae to escape this place and their mother for that matter and this meeting, this arrangement could be that door for him and Jin wishes that this Jung Hoshik could do what he as his elder brother couldn't do for him.

Jin sighs and leaves after giving a small glance towards the bathroom door from where loud rapping can be heard if you could call that rapping, Jin just smiles

Here hoshik reaches his office and takes the elevator to his cabin and as soon as he enters he sees his two best friends and his business partners Kijoon and Yujun, they turn to him with a confused face

"what" hoshik asks while setting his bag on the table

"I thought you had a meeting with your suitor today" Kijoon states with an eyebrow raised

"Or maybe he just refused your arrogant ass even without meeting you" Yujun smirks

Completely ignoring Yujun's comment, hoshik replies "noona will meet him"

"don't you think that's a bit rude actually" says Kijoon his mannerly-self kicking in

"rude is another name of Jung Hoshik, don't you know that Ki" Yujun says, his signature smirk not leaving his face

"cut the crap hyung, will you?" Hoshik glares at him

Yujun was about to retort when they hear a knock at the door

"hyung" comes a cheery voice from the other side of the door

"here is your fetus" yujun says to Kijoon for which Kijoon rolls his eyes and says a "come-in"

As soon as he completes his sentence walks in a tall guy dressed in a white loose t-shirt tucked into a blue skinny jeans, ripped at the knee and a bag hanging at his left shoulder and packed lunch in his right hand, with a huge smile showing off his bunny teeth, he happily jumps towards Kijoon and hugs him for which Kijoon smiles and caresses his hair and pats his back

"hyung, I missed you" he says while tightening his hug while Yujun scoffs and hoshik was already engrossed in his files

"how was your study tour kookie?" Kijoon asks, still running his hand through his hair

"it was not fun, and we didn't even get to see the museum because some people got injured while trekking" Jungkook rest his chin on Kijoon's chest while looking at him and pouting

"its ok, hyung will take you to see the museum" Kijoon chuckles and pokes his nose with his own

"really?" jungkook breaks the hug to look at Kijoon, to see if he was being serious while Kijoon nods and jungkook breaks into another one of his bunny smiles

Kijoon met jungkook when he was 10, at an orphanage, Kijoon visited with his father, at that very moment when his eyes met those doe, scared eyes, Kijoon left that orphanage with a 5 year old jungkook hanging on his left hand and his bunny smile making an appearance for the first time, his father didn't adopt him, instead they decided to sponsor him and provide him with a shelter and once Kijoon was of age and instead of taking over his family business, decided to start a business with his best friends and when he left his kim household, jungkook was the only person he had taken from there, holding onto his left hand but he was not scared, he was happy to go with his hyung and jungkook was the person who would comfort him when things didn't go right in the beginning, jungkook was his home, jungkook was his comfort and he know he has become more that just a hyung for him coz jungkook was not just his dongsaeng anymore.

"hyung, I made breakfast for you, I know you left without having any" says jungkook, now setting the breakfast on the small tea table in front of the sofa at one corner of the room, Kijoon just smiles

"yujun hyung, hobi hyung, I packed extra for both of you as well, come and eat" he flashes his bunny smile and yoongi shows his gummy smile to the cute guy, the day namjoon walked into their small office, this little bunny was by his side, eventhough it was the first time they met him but they know about him more than enough from the constant blabbering from namjoon, he was a fluffly ball of happiness during their days of hardship and he was their cute little dongsaeng and one of a few for whom yujun's caring side would be activated

"thank you jungkookie, its been three days since I last had your cooking, I'll eat a lot"

Jungkook smiles even wider, if that was possible but then he frowns when hoshik doesn't moves from his chair

Jungkook whines "aa hobi hyung...come and eat"

"I will eat later kookie" hobi says still engrossed in his file

Jungkook pouts and looks at Kijoon for which Kijoon was to him and side hugs him and kisses his temple

"hobi, it won't take much time, just have a little, it will get cold"

Hoshik looks up to see a pouting jungkook in Kijoon's arm who was giving him pleading look, hoshik sighs and stands up from his chair and jungkook's pout changes to his bunny smile again and Kijoon cant help but give off his dimple smile

"eat well and don't forget to finish it all, I'll head to college now" jungkook says cheerfully, kisses Kijoon on his cheek and happily jumps towards the door, waving at hobi and yujun

"you know that kid likes you, right?" yujun says with his mouth stuffed with food

Kijoon sighs "I know and I like him too, but I don't want to burden him"

"can you please elaborate" still busy with his food, yujun asks

"what if he is just grateful and not really likes me in that way" Kijoon asks as he takes a seat on the sofa chair and starts digging into his food

"you know, if he must feel grateful, it should be to your father and if that was the case, he would have never left that luxurious kim household to struggle with you" it was hoshik, who spoke this time

Kijoon just nods and sighs

"and you cant just keep him with you forever, not atleast like this, he will find someone soon, IF you don't act upon your feelings" yujun says with a serious tone this time " its just that he doesn't sees anyone like that, not just yet but it won't take long to change"

Kijoon shudders at the thought of seeing jungkook with someone else, him smiling his bunny smile while being in someone else's arms and suddenly his appetite was gone, he places his chopsticks down and goes back to his desk

"you don't want that ?" asks yujun while eyeing Kijoon's share of food and as soon as Kijoon shakes his head, the food was attacked by one and only min Yujun.
