Chapter 6: A Friend?

Cassandra’s P.O.V.

“A banquet?” I asked. Butler Feng has let out an announcement that a banquet is held in a grand hotel near the outskirts to the ocean. Probably to commemorate whatever partnership they concocted in that contract. We’re probably required to serve in the hotel or whatever we’re supposed to do.

“The young master requests the chefs to help out in the hotel kitchen and to add up staffs. Plus, 10 Maids to serve in the banquet which are chosen by young master himself needs to go to the north wing to pick up their uniforms. The rest, help out the staffs and continue your work.” I nodded as well as the other staffs around. I’m one of the unluckiest maids to go. The worst part, is some ambassadors and high-status people might recognize me. I used to be the party crasher back in my old days. I’m well known in banquets for my unladylike behavior.

I could only sigh and make my way to the north wing. Where they say I’m needed. Whatever uniform he’s talking about, it must be those low-key servant suits.

“Why do you look so unhappy?” I glanced beside me; I barely even noticed this girl talking to me. Whoever she is, I never noticed her before. Not like I did to anyone.

“Excuse me?” I questioned.

“You look so unhappy. My name’s Nana Wen by the way.” She stretched her hand out in a greeting gesture. I only gave out a sigh and shook her hand in mine. Her hand was kind of rough, due to the hard labor going on here I assume.

“I’m not. My name’s Cassandra Villanueva. Lets just go get the uniforms.” I mumbled in a monotone as I walked past her and made my way to the assigned area. I’m not here to make friends to anyone, even to the likes of her. Though I’m not too cruel.

“Let me come with you, you seem like you need some company.” I inwardly groaned in annoyance. No, I don’t need your annoying hospitality, thank you.

“Like it or not, I’ll be your friend!” I decided to ignore her and continued my way to my destination.

“Do you think we’ll have the chance to get close to Young master Samuel? What do you think about tonight’s banquet? Do you think they hosted the banquet to publicize Young master Samuel’s relationship with YingYang’s heiress Denise Javier?” I groaned once again. See, this is why I don’t like anyone around me, they’re annoying as hell! They’re like childish ingrates that needs to be taken care of and won’t shut up! It’s like high school all over again!

“Just. Shut. Up… Please?” I took a puff of breath and entered the ballroom there. We’ll be picking our sizes here. And our ridiculous uniforms. I’d rather not sit and chit chat about the ‘young master’ which is totally an asshat born from the depths of hell to torment me all my life!

Then again, his name seems to ring a bell. I think, at the same time it doesn’t… Am I not remembering something? Never mind, nothing will come out of it if I try to remember something that I can’t remember. I will only get a headache.

I shook the thought away and got my own set of clothes for tonight. It only seemed to be a short, long-sleeved black and white dress with black, knee-length socks. I must say, the Dencio household does have a petty sense of fashion.

I still remember the times when my mother used to design my clothes then have them sewn exclusively just for me. I wonder if I still have them, or were they taken away by the landlords?

“Oh! What a beautiful set! Young master Samuel is really kind enough to let us have such leisure.” Sigh, she has to be everywhere. Doesn’t she have other friends or other people to bragger other than me?

“Do you mind? I don’t like people getting too close for comfort.” I moved a few feet away, carrying the set of clothes on a paper bag I had, of course she started to scout near me. I don’t like it. Is she some stalker that Dencio guy assigned for me?

“Sorry, other maids don’t like me. And you’re new here so I want to grab this chance to get to know you, and possibly be friends!” I pity the other maids which she tried to befriend. Even I myself won’t be cooped up to this point.

“Whatever.” I muttered out and continued my way over to the south wing of the mansion, where my dormitory should be. I just hope this banquet passes faster; I haven’t even contacted Alyn yet so far, how has he been doing? I’ll go home as soon as I get my salary.

“Surely you have heard about Ms. Denise and Young master Samuel, right? Aren’t they a cute couple? A match made in heaven!” I blocked my ears as she continued to squeal in delight. Which I in turn, is not really delighted about the fact. Even I won’t be willing to have a relationship with that blondie bloodsucker. I’d rather die if ever, yet it’s not like I would actually care about that doofus’ relationship or whatever. I’m just questioning his tastes.

“I won’t congratulate those people who would rather suck up to another to gain unspoken compensations. If you haven’t noticed. She has a very bad temperament, especially her bitchy spoiled rotten behavior. But I got to admit, they do fit together with a cocky high held asshat? You’re right. A perfect match.” I laughed to myself, yet this Nana girl doesn’t seem to see the humor side of my statement. But I could care less of what she thinks.

“Who’s the perfect match again? Maid?” I glanced behind us, sure enough, Nana was surprised in a tensed state and slowly turned around as we both got a view of the bitchiest person I’ve ever met.

“Oh? Speak of the devil and here she comes.” Snickered and crossed my arms after putting down the paper bag I had with me. Her expression clearly tells how much she dislikes the thought of me being around. And I could say the same to her. It’s not like anyone would beg just to see a glimpse of her two-sided face.

“Is there anything I could serve you with? Your ‘majesty?’” I laughed to myself, her eyes began to squint with her eye brows knit together in sudden anger. It suits her very well. I got to admit so, it’s a shame that she can’t wear that expression all the time. It satisfies me.

“Seems to me, my future husband picked such a foul ill-bred scavenger to serve at such an elegant event? How sad, I could pick better maids with a satisfying behavior. I assume you’ll be the very least person that I would ever bother to pick for such an event. The likes of you would surely be better off to clean the toilets and bath the dogs.” I stood unfazed, all I can see is her, complimenting herself as if I’m a petty mirror. I feel so bad that I wasn’t, it would be very perfect for her complexion.

“Thank you for the compliment. although, I believe that you would be the best suiting candidate for your ‘ill-bred’ accusations. But don’t worry, its my job to bathe such elegant dogs like yourself.” I snickered, sure enough this blondie is pissed out of her wits. Nana seems to be terrified of the fact that I’m standing up against this loudmouth they call an heiress.

“You! —We’ll see who’s the barking dog tonight!” I smiled and waved at her as she storms off in a pissed off manner. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself, man have I never seen such lady with such a bad temperament! Wonder what Samuel even sees in her petty face? I’d start to think that he might be blind or something. Yet from what I’ve seen, he likes nothing about that blabber mouth of an heiress.

“Cassandra, you should apologize to her immediately! She is the HEIRESS of YingYang Corp. AND Young master Samuel’s betrothed! Who knew what would happen if ever you kept on pestering her?” I sighed in annoyance, I forgot about her presence. Yet what is she so worried about? It’s not like little miss blondie could murder us just for stating facts?
