5. My house, my rules

                  Stacey's p.o.v

I woke up feeling exhausted, I was suppose to go to work but I felt that

I needed to rest, I went downstairs and found Lizzy preparing breakfast. I sat down and listened to her while smiling falsely as she told a story that didn't make any sense at all.

"Boss I'm serious," she said while she stirred the pot.

"Yeah right," I answered.

"It's the truth," she said.

"Lizzy I don't think that happened," I answered.

"I'm serious, when I ran out of the house I had my cell phone in my pocket so I called miss Becky and told her everything. She was furious that I had left you behind, she demanded I go back and help you, so I slowly went back inside the house, I thought that...well..maybe he was doing something bad to you," she said as I glared at her. For some reason, I hated her words and thoughts.

"I know boss, I am sorry, but please listen to this, I went in the kitchen and found it empty, then I heard noises in your bedroom, so I got a folk and quickly went upstairs," she said as I chuckled.

"A folk, really?" I asked mockingly.

"Miss I couldn't think straight, I lifted the first thing my eyes could see and that was a folk," she answered.

"Okay, then what happened next?" I asked.

"When I opened the door to your bedroom I couldn't believe what I saw," she whispered.

"What!" I asked loudly.

"You were laying unconscious on the floor with your head resting on a pillow, a clothe was tide around your arms to stop the few cuts from bleeding, it was shocking boss, Lewis was kneeling beside you brushing your head gently with his hand, it's like he became sane just at that moment," she said.

I kept quiet for a few minutes then laughed Softly.

"Why are you laughing?" She asked curiously.

"You know, I have been suspecting this for some days now, Lewis is different from other mad people, I will call doctor Jacob and ask him to do some tests on him," I answered.

Lewis walked in with his shirt turned inside out, he was yawning so cutely and that made me somehow conscious of him, when he saw the pot on the stove he pointed at it.

"Food," he said then giggled happily.

"Yes, Lizzy is preparing breakfast for us," I answered with a smile.

"Stacey," he whispered.

"Morning to you too," I answered.

The doorbell rang. Lizzy quickly excused herself and went to open it.

"Is that food I smell?" Becky asked when she walked in.

"Yes," I answered surprised that she was acting calm.

Lewis looked at her for a second then walked out of the room.

"Why is he still here?" She asked.

"Becky please stop it," I answered seriously.

"Fine, I'm just hungry," she said happily.

"Lizzy will soon serve you breakfast," I answered then stood up.

"What's wrong Stacey?, I thought we were going to eat together like how best friends always do," she said.

I was about to answer when I heard Lizzy's scream from outside.

I rushed there with Becky following behind, I found Lizzy looking at Lewis in shock who was eating dirt from the small flower garden which was near the doorstep.

"Lewis stop," I said loudly. He looked at me then stood up and removed his shirt.

"Lizzy go and serve Becky breakfast now, I will remain here with Lewis," I said seriously.

She nodded then walked back into the house with Becky.

"Lewis look at me, please," I said softly but he couldn't turn, he slowly began to tear his shirt into pieces.

"Lewis please," I whispered as he looked at me.

"Look at these bruises you gave me, they still hurt and I never want to go through that again, so whatever you

do don't hurt yourself or us please," I said loudly.

He slowly dropped his shirt and spit out the dirt from his mouth.

"Now, let's go back inside the house, Lizzy will give you something nice to eat," I said then extended my hand.

He moved closer and took it, we walked into the house and went to the dining room.

"Sit here, let me call Lizzy to bring you food," I said then walked to the kitchen were I found Lizzy and Becky whispering something to each other.

"Are you okay boss?" Lizzy asked loudly.

"Yes, I'm okay," I answered.

"Stacey, I know that you are a very kind person, that's why you are helping him. But can't you just take him somewhere else or talk to the cops. maybe they have found his relatives or something, he's been here for days," Becky said as I looked at her coldly.

"Becky this is my house and I know that you're saying this for my own well-being, but I can handle my house with the people in it," I answered seriously.

"Well am sorry if I sounded like I was degrading you or saying something bad," she apologized sarcastically.

Lewis walked into the room slowly and looked at me.

"Lewis come sit down here," I said softly.

He looked at the chairs then at me.

"Sit," I said again.

He moved and sat down, I quickly stood up and went to the fridge. I opened it and got an apple.

"Wash your hands," I said.

"No," he answered angrily shocking me.

"Okay it's fine, I will feed you," I said as Becky gasped loudly.

I walked to the tap and turned it on then washed the apple.

"Lizzy give me a knife and plate," I ordered then turned off the tap and walked to the table then sat down.

Lizzy quickly brought the plate and knife then gave me, I cut the apple into pieces and put it on the plate.

"You can't be serious," Becky said loudly.

"Here," I whispered when I picked up a piece.

He looked at my hand then opened his mouth and ate the piece.

"Have some more," I said while he opened his mouth again.

"You like it right?" I asked Softly. He looked at me then nodded.

"I picked it from the market with you in mind," I said.

Becky left the room angrily as Lizzy followed.

I hated the way they made him feel, what he needed was our care and understanding not hate, if they weren't going to treat him kindly, then they didn't deserve to be in my house.

It was my house so I made the rules if the rules were too much to handle. They were more than welcome to leave and never return.
