8. Hurt

                     Stacey's p.o.v

I entered the house and found it quite, it really wasn't the first time but it made me feel uneasy, it reminded me of that time Lewis was very upset.

"I'm home, anyone!" I called loudly as I walked into the kitchen and put my bag on the table.

It took a lot of convincing to have Becky leave my compound, she wanted to come in and help me choose an outfit for my date but I couldn't let her, I knew that we would soon argue immediately she saw Lewis.

I opened the fridge and got a bottle of water, I was about to close it when Lewis walked in, he stood quietly looking at me he wore my flared dress, his hands were placed on behind his back like he was hiding something.

I bite my lower lip to hold in my laughter.

"Lewis, how are you?" I asked but he couldn't answer.

"By the way, you look cute," I said then chuckled softly.

He winced then forced a smile on his face.

"Lewis, what is it?" I asked seriously.

He slowly moved his hand and pointed at his wrist which was bleeding.

"My God!, Come here let me take a look," I said loudly while putting back the bottle and closing the fridge.

He moved closer and stood in front of me, I quickly got his hand and rushed to the sink, I turned on the tap and put his hand under the tap.

"Lizzy!, Lizzy!" I called on top of my voice but there was no response.

I quickly turned off the tap then took off my shirt without thinking and wrapped it around his wrist.

"You will be fine," I said as he looked at me calmly.

"Stac...y," he whispered.

I was about to touch his cheek when Lizzy walked into the kitchen with a bag of groceries.

"Boss," she called.

"Get me a bandage Quickly, Lewis is hurt," I said loudly.

She quickly nodded then rushed out of the room.

"It will be okay," I whispered as I looked him in the eyes...

He didn't look as if he was in much pain, but still not wasn't taking any chances.

"Here boss," she said when she entered with a first aid kit.

"Open it and get me an antibiotic cream and a sterile bandage," I instructed.

She quickly opened it and handed me exactly what I had told her.

I removed the bloody shirt and quickly Applied antibiotic cream to reduce the risk of infection and covered it with a sterile bandage.

"How can you leave him all alone?" I asked when I finished.

"I won't lie boss, he was eating dirt and chewing sticks, he also had a bottle on his other hand, when I tried to stop him he wanted to stone me with a big stone, so I left him and went to buy groceries." She answered.

I took in a deep breath to calm myself, I felt like firing her, sadly she was the only person I knew of who was hardworking and very respectful to me.

"Lizzy never leave Lewis in the house alone ever again, even if it's to buy groceries until I get back from work okay, am I clear?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm sorry boss, I only thought of making you supper that's why I went to the market," she answered.

"It's fine, I think you too need rest, when will you be going to visit your family?" I asked.

"Any day I become free," she answered with a wide smile.

"That sounds good, can you get me some painkillers upstairs in my bedroom drawer," I said.

"Okay," she answered then quickly left.

"Lewis don't eat dirt or chew sticks, mostly don't play with a bottle okay," I whispered then looked at his bandaged wrist.

"Does it hurt?" I asked.

He touched my hand sadly and nodded.

"Don't worry, you will be fine," I said.

Lizzy walked in and handed me a bottle of pain Killers.

I took one capsule from the bottle and handed it to him.

"Here take this pain killer," I said.

He hesitated then got it and put it in his mouth.

"Boss here," Lizzy whispered.

I looked at the glass of water in her hand then smiled and took it.

"Here Lewis," I said then helped him drink.

My mind was too fixed on him that I didn't even notice how Lizzy got a glass of water.

"Easy," I whispered and rubbed his chest when he coughed slightly.

I gave Lizzy back the glass of water when he was done and went upstairs.

My head was badly aching, I didn't care that I was shirtless even when Lizzy walked in, all I cared about was his well being, maybe Becky was right. I did have feelings for him.

I threw myself on the bed and closed my eyes.

"Stacey," Lewis called.

I instantly opened my eyes and sat upright, he was standing at the bedroom door.

I looked at the watch on the wall with a frown.

"10 pm," I whispered then looked at him.

He was breathing heavily and his eyes were filled with tears, I quickly stood up.

"Lewis, does it pain that much?" I asked as I moved closer to him and touched his hand.

"Is your hand badly hurting?" I asked again in concern.

He shook his head in refusal.

"Then what's wrong?" I asked.

"My mother and father," he answered normally shocking me.

"You can..., you just...," I trailed off not knowing what to say.

"Head," he whispered with tears on his cheeks then faced the ground.

l quickly held his other hand and squeezed it firmly.

"Lewis look at me," I said sadly as he did.

"I'm sure whatever you had gone through really did hurt you a lot, but it's all in past, you now have me," I said sadly then hugged him while he cried.

I was very upset with whoever had hurt him, I knew there was a possibility that it wasn't anyone, but I just couldn't grasp that belief.

"I'm sorry," I whispered with tears then pulled back and walked to the bed with him.

"You need to sleep please," I said sadly then wiped off my tears.

He slowly got on and lay down, I too did the same and faced him.

"We will get through this together, I promise," I whispered as he closed his eyes.

I didn't want him to suffer anymore, the best I could do was being there whenever he was hurting, I was more than ready to hold his hand without knowing anything about him.

I held his hand in mine and closed my eyes too, to get some rest.

"I will stand by your side," I murmured softly.
